Metalcore is a fucking awesome genre to get into if you wanna master a lot of techniques in the rock and metal side of things(and even a little jazz) Perfect for getting into fast soloing with some popular metalcore songs actually having some actually well-thought shredding that isnt what most boomers would call noodling. Also perfect for rhythm guitar as well as a lot of melodic stuff. Thats what got me into progressive shit.
I absolutely love seeing guys learning guitar go straight for metal. that is how I started and I think it's the best thing I did. I didn't start with no C chord and G chord stuff. I learned a whole lot of music theory now but I wish there were more people learning guitar with metal.
Absolutely agree. Even better if you pair it with learning acoustic classical alongside. That's what I did based on a friends recommendation and it helped me immensely.
No. That's why all metal sounds the same. Learn the theory so you can break the rules and be creative rather than playing the same chord progressions over and over.
I think it's good to learn a well-rounded assortment of music, it gives you more appreciation and room to experiment and discover, rather than "only learning metal" or "not learning metal at all", those extremes aren't all that great. Being open to learning and playing all sorts of different music makes you appreciate and enjoy it all a lot more. The "C chord and G chord stuff" for instance is already the basis for a lot of music people love and enjoy, completely dismissing it is just as bad as only learning that.

Hey man idk if this is your situation at all but if you often find yourself scrolling on the phone or just wasting time on whatever make it so everytime u notice that u just pick up the guitar instead. I’ve played for 7 years but only the first 3 or so was I really progressing and learning & in just the past few months I’ve been playing a few hours a day and have gotten noticeably better! Pick songs that are a bit scary like for me rn it’s the master of puppets solo it looks scary but once you break the licks down slowly you’ll be shocked what you’re capable of. Also, something I heard forever ago that has helped me a lot is practice before u go to bed. I can’t tell u how many times I fumbled through a riff for hours only to wake up and play it perfect first try
try vitamin D, the liquid form (dissolved in benzyl alcohol), and thank me later. Just be sure to have a break after a 2 week's use as it's gonna circulate in your syystem for another month. you can just google it up: "Vitamin D deficiency and psychological disorders" . I seriously started learning the guitar last year at 24. Late, I know, I unfortunately couldn't afford it as a child/teenager. I've hit a lot of roadblocks so far, one of which, very recently. But I'm here seeing someone that has a lot in common with me in those beginner days, one of those things being coming straight up guns blazing, no fucks given playing metal like there's no tomorrow. You, sir, reminded me that no matter what, consistency is key and I would like to thank you for that. Someday I'm going to be as good of a player as you are.
My situation is like yours except I'm 25. Looking for a pretty electric guitar that is left-handed is hard, so I ended up customizing it with the neck and pickups. I've always wrote poems in elementary school, but I feel like playing will help me compose.
Incredible, love all the self discipline and dedication to record your progression. Tells me a lot about about your character. Well done, and I’m not just complementing you on your ability but what we know as guitarist. All the research, it’s every single day all day. Without ever settling until you achieve the next level. Truly amazing talent, stay humble and it’s hard when in public because you get bored but that’s life. 😉

Bravo man, keep up the work. This is the shit people need to see to motivate them to keep on working and putting in the effort. I think people get discouraged who listen to this kinda music when they pick up the guitar and are like WHY DONT I SOUND LIKE THAT. It takes dedication to sound like the songs you listen to. Great video.
Absolutely loved watching this! Good man. Love ❤️
this is super awesome man! I also started close to 10 years ago (in 2015 so i have a few years until I hit my 10 year mark) with Rocksmith and it’s super cool to see another musician have some super killer progression from the game!!
Dude this was super inspiring to watch!
Dude this song selection fired me up so much. Awesome shreddage too.
This really makes me feel good about myself. Cause im at 10 months and im playing about as good as you where then. And ypur an absolute beast. Goves me hope that ill be where you are eventually
The Metalcore Influencer. You sent chills up my arms, & made me wanna learn some songs; even the hard parts i suck at lol. God Bless You brother.
So many lovely riffs of the childhood! ❤️
Damn, dude that was epic. Keep on rockin' brother.
Glad to see your evolution!
Amazing! After 30 years playing, I'm still trying to get to your 4 year level. Outstanding dedication, bravo.
Had to drop the Like and headbang when I saw in dying days, been devoting myself to that song for the past two weeks. I’ve been playing for nearly 2 years and I love to see this as I’m a self taught metalhead as well 🤘
Its cool to see all the different guitars you've been through throughout the years.
I find myself envious of you, but i think you've inspired me to pick it back up, thanks man
Awesome seeing the progress... You rock!
Good job bro, that's really nice to see you're getting better and better! 😌👌
Badass dude. I jumped straight into metalcore as well, its super hard at first, but it really teaches you tons of good techniques
Brooo ur kirk solo was bang on cheers mate 🤘🤘
this gives me a reason to pick up my guitar when I first originally said to myself to teach myself how to play thank you for this progress video !
This is so awesome to watch!
You are so talented! I am going to listen to your band.
Someday I'm going to be as good of a player as you are.
wrong im basically the same age as you but there is no such thing as starting too late its difficult yes and just dont give up.
My situation is like yours except I'm 25. Looking for a pretty electric guitar that is left-handed is hard, so I ended up customizing it with the neck and pickups. I've always wrote poems in elementary school, but I feel like playing will help me compose.
i run the @Templemusicacademy if you need any help!
Great man! Bravo!!! Currently 3 months, started at 30yo and keep diggin!❤
Hell yeah man, you give inspiration to all of us newbies :D
