Polyphia: "We're gonna roast some covers"
Also Polyphia: "This sounds amazing"
Tim: "I need to cover this cover"
click bite
No higher praise
"sounds better then original" 3-4x
They didn't roast anything lol
'Got us head bobbin' to our own song'
Moral of the story : if you've managed to cover Polyphia and you're confident enough to send em your own cover, you're at the very least an amazing artist and can't be roasted.
yoo im from quebeque too
that's true. if you can even do a cover without any of your own added fills or notes, you're already pretty pro
@@cyrinekhamassi6578yoo no one gives a shit

“It’s cooler than the original” imagine how happy you’d be to hear that from the man that WROTE THE SONG
Agree... Congrats to the dude
And the person who says that is polyphia
That caught my attention too. Such a humble dude.
Tim 13:50 to 14:30 starting every instrument with: “What the fuck is that???” Is honestly fantastic
At one point I wanted to be like: “oh that’s an…” but then Danny Wow picks up something else and I’m like: “what the fuck is that?” Right along with Tim.
What a versatile musician.
Polyphia got people so inspired and creative. Love this.

Brilliant cover and performance!
sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh
congratulations man!
galing mo congrats! Pinoy pride yeah!
They said they’d roast but they are so nice and appreciative of each one.
Even getting roasted by them is an achievement fr
The roast was calling a Pipa a lute (its similar, but completely different cultures), not knowing what a shamisen is, and calling a Lyre a "finger harp"
Although that's a product of western music never bothering to expand into other cultures. I don't blame polyphia at all, but rather the entirety of the western music scene.
@@Klara_S. pointless comment
@@Klara_S. stop
@@Zion-18 I'm not trying to take down anything. I just find it a bit sad that so many people don't get to experience the wonderful music of different cultures and traditions.
There are so many fantastic pieces people don't get to hear because no one pushes them to branch out into other genres and territories. Again, I'm not mad at polyphia at all for not knowing what a pipa is. I just think everyone should make more of an effort to venture outside of their musical comfort zone.

Like most artistic projects done for a career, there's never enough time to create something perfect, you just create something finished. He probably sees all these wonderful covers as unrealized potential and wants them to shine just as badly. Really cool to see.
Indeed. Objectivity is crucial to making good music. Ever see that seen in Amadeus when he an Salieri meet for the first time? Highly recommend checking it out.
They were all great. He was probably just thrilled to hear all the variety and how people reinvisioned his songs.

Yours was fun and entertaining 🤣❤️❤️
Same thoughts man. I was concerned it was going to be a popularity contest because he was lagging behind by a ton of votes.
Danny Wow, you got yourself a +1 sub my guy. Not much but you killed it!
Props to Danny Yau. So much talent on so many different instruments.
Danny Wow* 😆
Tim saying "I'm gonna cover his cover" says a lot. These guys are down to earth and humble.
I know that they're friends, but man, seeing people so tight-nit in a band together is awesome. They're having so much fun!
Yep. I find myself not enjoying their earlier videos as much anymore because of that. The songs are still amazing and the videos are still super great, but... they're just so much more better and beautiful now! 💙
It’s crazy how many talented young musicians there are out there. I watch polyphia play throughs and I’m blown away but there are people who take those crazy intricate songs and put their own flair on top. Mind blowing
For real, it’s amazing how talented some people are
Seriously. This really brings home the fact that there's a lot of amazingly talented people out there who will probably never be famous or get the recognition they deserve.
Exactly my thoughts. Are those people really amateurs, practicing in their bedrooms? That violinist? The guy with the mouth organ? The guy who played ten different instruments?
@@supertrexandroidx you would be really surprised about how many small local bands are actually really good, but just can't get the publicity and funding they need to make it big, always show love for local and small bands, they need it the most
@@supertrexandroidx it's because just playing is not talent u can play that too if you practice every single day for few hours but to be able to write those songs and even come up with those phrasing is what actually is amazing that's it's similar to singing u can sing excellent but u will not get much recognition if u don't sing ur own songs and do just covers
This was sick af.
10:24 is what I think Tim hears in his head when writing a song.
"Danny Yau is AI" is a HILARIOUS statement. LMAO
Who knew Polyphia on Harmonica was thing we ALL needed in our lives?
the fact that everyone can cover the song on different instruments and it all sounds sooo good speaks volumes.
I discovered Polyphia less than an hour ago. The music already had me on board, but the humility they showed to their fandom in this video sold me. I'm hooked.

Same here.... I'm blown away.
That dude who won has my respect, he totally deserved it.
Indeed; he was not only one of the greatest demonstrations of skill but also one who can and will most make use of that guitar.
There was only a single noticeable mistake that I could find in his cover where he added like half a beat at the end of a certain fill; I doubt 99% of people would even notice it but otherwise that cover was literally perfect.
That was truly one of the guitar covers of all time
💯🔥❤
It is definitely a guitar cover, you are correct lol
@@Luke-ih1oc IF you consider that he was drumming onhis guitar the whole time and adding a few notes as well, I think you could still consider it flawless.

To be fair I expect a roast to be rough
@@jeanpitre5789 Yes - I do agree - if it was to a buddy or someone close. But when someone famous rips their fans, when the fan base is the only reason they are famous in the first place - I lose a ton of respect for the celebrity. It shows the ego has taken over. When famous people are appreciative and respectful to their fans - understanding the fans are the ones that allow them to have their standard of living and fame - it's much more.... wholesome?!!?

@AhmadVawaidSulthon it really is unfortunate that gatekeepers still exist, but the new way is becoming a trend. Is that a normal Lyre Harp? Where can I get one that sounds like that?
It retains its ancient mystic sound even though he's playing it in what looks like a small bedroom. It's a really good evocative sound. Also reminds me of team Ico Games lol. That's what I imagine from the sound, ancient civilizations. Old instrument.
