YES!!! This is a beautiful and very moving duet, and their voices are incredible together. The official video is also very simple, on the surface, but perfect for this song.
You should have done the secret world live tour with Paula Cole singing in your eyes. It's a must-see Paula Cole holding that note for that long. You will be stunned. The whole video is just on a different level but my gosh Paula Cole. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!

This entire show is something magical. Not only is it full of wonderful songs but full of some incredible musicians from all over the world. It's impossible to watch and not smile. A truly joyous event.
Great reaction guys, I agree with the others, secret world live version so much better. It would have you all dancing, and Paula Coles voice is outstanding. Keep up the good work girls. 👍🏴
Peter Gabriel was the original lead singer in Genesis. When he left for a solo career ,Phil Collins took over vocals. Well known for his 80's videos using stop motion and Claymation effects, videos for songs like "Sledgehammer" and "Big Time". In Your Eyes is from his 1986 album "So".
FYI They very briefly cut to a background singer during the video, she's wearing a black dress. That is Melanie Gabriel, Peter's daughter, doing background vocals for this tour.
Peter Gabriel was one of the original members of Genesis with Phil Collins AND Michael Rutherford. He left the group and went on to a great solo career. One of his breakout hits was "Sledgehammer", Thien "Solisbery Hill", and "Then In Your Eyes". This is awonderful song. Very touching.
The deep "In your eyes" was in the original. It was always my favorite part to sing. The Secret World live version is my favorite version of this song. Peter Gabriel was a huge MTV star with innovative videos and he incorporated global music talent. It's always nice to see the three of you smiling.
Always loved his sound with Genesis back in the 70's, and after he went solo. This song was originally released back in the mid 80's. I don;t know for sure, but this performance was probably at least 20 years after that, maybe more.
Peter Gabriel, who was the original lead singer of Genesis, when they were more of a Progressive Rock band. Then when he went on his own, he really shined. Peter, as you can see, is also a very visual artist. A great video to see, is "Don't Give Up", where he teamed up with another great singer and visual artist Kate Bush.
This Concert is from 2002. I was fortunate to see this Concert Tour in San Jose, CA. This Song is from Peter Gabriel's Multi-Platinum 1986 Album, So. The Bald Bass Player is Tony Levin. Tony has been playing with Peter Gabriel since Peter Gabriel's 1977 Album, PG2 (Scratch). Tony Levin has been bald since 78', when I saw him play Live with Peter Gabriel.
@@user-cs4fg1rm5k Tony, can also be seen performing this Year, (along with Ex-King Crimson Guitarist Adrian Belew, Guitarist-God Steve Vai, and Tool Drummer Danny Carey) as a Super Group, Beat, playing 1980's Three Album, King Crimson Songs.
This song brought tears to my eyes because it took me to another time, a time when I was in my late teens. I could see my family and friends from that time, many of whom are no longer with us today. Thank you for this reaction. Tim
I remember hearing this song in the late '80s when I was about 16 years old. I loved it the first time; it took my breath away, and I very rarely like a song on a first listen. The lyrics, the depth, the intensity, the richness....All these years and decades later, and I have to say, this would be my favorite song of all time. There are a myriad of extraordinary songs out there, but I've never found anything that tops this one for me. Great reaction, Ladies!
I agree with another commenter... the Secret World Live Tour version of this song with Paula Cole singing backup is on another level. In fact the entire band and performance is.
I’m a near life-long fan of Genesis and Gabriel. Saw Gabriel for the first time on his most recent tour, and he still’s got it! Strong voice, can sing these songs in the original key (most at this age have to sing in a lower octave), and he still writes great songs, as his new album is evidence…
Lulu, he used to have hair and very good hair at that. He is now in his 70s. I don't go to many live concerts but I have seen Peter Gabriel live four times. The last time was on crutches, hobbling though a major arena in Milwaukee, last fall. I drove up from Chicago and was not going to miss it. One of our friends flew in from New York to join us. He is really incredible and has a vast catalog.
Really glad you reacted to this!!! I worked in the concert business for 23 years, and in all that time plus all the concerts I've gone to on my own I had never seen Peter Gabriel. Well, I finally got to see him this past October! And he played "In Your Eyes" as the encore, just like this show! I highly recommend checking out "Red Rain" and Downside Up" from this same concert, as well as "Don't Give Up" from his Secret World tour!!!
Peter Gabriel was a band member of Genesis with Phil Colins and went off on his own after they disbanded. Many great songs. But this song defined my generation in the 1980’s as the music track to one of the most memorable scenes in film history “Say Anything” is the movie and became a cult classic “teen rom com” you will love the film, especially if you’re a teenager. BTW, love all your reactions, realness and humbleness.
Genesis "disbanded", if at all, with the illness and retirement of Phil Collins after the 2023 Farewell tour. Peter Gabriel left the band for personal reasons in about 1975 to pursue a solo career. Genesis gradually moved away from its progressive rock roots and became the most popular band in the world with Phil Collins on lead vocals. The decision by Gabriel to leave Genesis was such a shock in Great Britain and Europe that the London Times published Gabriel's letter explaining his decision on its front page.
I got to see Gabriel on the So tour in LA in 1986, the album this song was on, Best concert in my entire life, and I've seen some pretty special ones, but this was the absolute standout.
Love Peter, both in Genesis and solo. Some additional great tunes to checkout: Games Without Frontiers, Solsbury Hill, Shaking the Tree, and the incredibly moving song, Biko, about the murder of young South African Steven Biko by the police during apartheid. His duet on Don’t Give Up with Kate Bush will hit you right in the feels too.
Ladies you have redeemed yourselves with one of the greatest voices in rock. Away from the usual repeated requests you get. Peter Gabriel was the lead singer of Genesis before Phil Collins took Genesis on the pop train. Superstar doesn't come close.
He has so many great songs. As others have mentioned, he was the original lead singer for Genesis - listen to Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. As a solo artist, Solsbury Hill, Shock the Monkey, Sledghammer, Big Time, Red Rain, Digging in the Dirt, Come Talk to Me, Steam.
One of Peter’s biggest hits was “Sledgehammer” and has the iconic MTV video. Another cool song is his cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” playing at the end of the movie Lone Survivor. “Sledgehammer” ua-cam.com/video/OJWJE0x7T4Q/v-deo.htmlsi=OszIgECRSHotH5OI
The studio recording for this song was recorded years earlier than this concert back when Peter Gabriel had a full head of dark hair. He was the original lead singer for Genesis. When he left, drummer Phil Collins took over as the lead singer.
Don't forget guitarist Steve Hackett who is still playing his brilliant original music and the great era of Genesis music from the time he was in the band (71-77) I just saw his show here in Houston and it was incredible.
Hey Ladies 🙂 Peter Gabriel has some very iconic songs: "Don't give up" ( with Kate Bush ) , "Games without frontiers" , "Solsbury Hill" and "sledgehammer" ! His voice is one of a kind.
If you've ever seen someone hold up a boombox over his head to play a song to a loved one, this is the song playing. It was originally in the movie Say Anything.
At this stage in his career, Peter often had different musicians joining him onstage during his tour. When I saw him at Madison Square many years ago, also in the round, he had some South African singers. Also, the Blind Boys of Alabama opened the show and were invited back on stage. Another video of this song features Paula Cole. The last tour I saw was very synchronized with visuals - which was also brilliant, but not as spontaneous. I highly recommend his Biko - Live at WOMAD, 1982.
Yeah, that is Tony Levin on bass. I feel stupid. I've known about him for years and I never knew he played with Peter Gabriel. I know him from the side project of Dream Theater called Liquid Tension Experiment.
try doing Peter singing solsbury hill live when he sings it riding a bicycle around the stage while the stage is turning around ,a very special performer ,he also likes to include a lot of foreign artists on his records be it singers or musicians...also try listening to san jacinto ,his voice is 👌
About to watch but needed to comment without watching. When Phill Collins and Peter Gabriel both of Genesis went on their own endeavors, we were truly blessed. The short version of this is in the movie, Say Anything. This is a longer collaboration he put together and is nothing shirt of epic.
Peter Gabriel is amazing male voice ever exists! My suggestion for you - duet with Kate Bush song "Don't give up" ... and all off Genesis, they are real genius.
I Agree with a lot of others - you olayed the wrong live version of this. The secret world live version of this is far superior. You really need to see that to get the full impact of this song. This is good, but the secret world version will leave you speechless. You should also check out Solsbury Hill from his fist solo album. Games Without Frontiers is another great track from his third solo album, as well as the song Biko. Keep up the good work!
Peter actually wrote a song for his daughter Melanie ( singing background). Years ago Peter went through a painful divorce. At the time Melanie was a very young child and was confused, hurt and afraid. She didn't understand what was happening and closed herself off, she stopped talking to her father. Peter wrote "COME TALK TO ME" to explain that she wasn't the cause of the situation and that he loved her with all his heart. Years later, Melanie has grown up and has found peace with her father. In this performance she joins him onstage to sing the song with Peter, it gets me choked up every time: ua-cam.com/video/4J1gWMLbV70/v-deo.htmlsi=HhCfjkYXOLzvbHpk
Come on Donna...lol! The whole band is Not Bald!....... this band... been around for awhile love... do the chronically time frame.. you'll love it even more. Iconic!
Check out his Solsbury Hill -- Either the Secret World Tour version, or the David Letterman version which is also great and features full orchestra. It's a semi-autographical song about a spiritual experience he had that made him decide to leave his former group (Genesis). (All of this is just one interpretation - it's a mysterious song.)
Tony Levin is the bassist. You guys should react to Liquid Tension Experiment. He plays bass and the other guys are from Dream Theater. I think you would like it
Donna you may have heard this song in the Teenage drama movie "Say Anything" with John Cusack in 1989 which was a popular movie back then! Also, it's easy to see where LULU gets her unique pretty hair! Much love from West Virginia, USA! ❤
Love this performance being a Peter Gabriel fan but for a first timer I would recommend the original studio for many reasons. The youth of his awesome younger voice, the original ARTISTIC CONCEPTION and Oh Ya they say this song was inspired by the actress Rosanna Arquette whom he dated ( lucky bass turd). SLEDGE HAMMER is on the same album. I'd say do the original music video but it's kinda distracting and I have A D D!! Great Channel!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Have You guys ever heard Billie Ellish and Finnish? Oscar winners.. "What was I made for " , will make those happy tears jump out! Look forward to watching your reactions! Ty!
Written by Peter Gabriel. This song was in the movie 🎥 Say Anything. The cartoon TV 📺 show South Park tried to recreate this. But, Eric Cartman pushed play ▶️ on the wrong Peter Gabriel song 🎵! L 🤣L Back to this concert. Paula Cole sings here. She left and went solo. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Peter Gabriel sings Shock ⛈ the Monkey 🐒 2 Paula Cole sings Where Have All the Cowboys 🤠 Gone?
I prefer the alternate version without the chanting which to me has a deeper and richer tone to it. UA-cam; Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes" (Extended 7" Edit)
Wrong link. Here's the one it was supposed to be, a very special performance of this song: Peter Gabriel【In Your Eyes】Live ua-cam.com/video/evN6DIGPIJM/v-deo.html And here is the entire concert: Peter Gabriel【Secret World Live Tour】ua-cam.com/video/azas-1zInJ8/v-deo.html {1:42:28}

Okay - next song try Peter's DIGGING IN THE DIRT from 1986, then hear Sheryl Crow's cover of that song release last month. WOW WOW WOW her version i would like to ya'll three ladies react
Peter Gabriel has always been a weird character... His music has ranged from deranged to beautiful ... from weird to wonderful... He has also worked w/ some of the greatest musicians of the 70's, 80's and 90's, both as a solo artist... and as the founding singer of UK prog rock legends Genesis. Growing up as an upper class kid in England, Peter Gabriel had grand ideas when he formed a band in the late 60's w/ his friends Anthony Phillips (guitar), Tony Banks (organ/ keys) and Mike Rutherford (guitar) and they called themselves Genesis, debuting in 1969 and making the most challenging music they could write... Peter Gabriel soon became the star of the band as the singer by donning elaborate and sensational costumes onstage while performing in various fictional characters... Phil Collins (drums) and Steve Hackett (guitar) joined Genesis by 1971. Despite the buzz they created, Genesis had trouble selling records - their complex and epic songs were not commercially viable in the 70's and they could not break beyond their devoted cult base in Europe and N. America. In 1975, Peter Gabriel announced that he was leaving Genesis... his newborn daughter had health issues and he needed time for his family... The press assumed that Genesis was done without Gabriel, but the band found a perfect replacement - drummer Phil Collins, who assumed lead vocals for Genesis in 1976 and the band broke big commercially... Phil Collins also went on to solo superstardom in the 80's. After taking time off, Peter Gabriel launched his solo career in 1977... His 3rd 1980 album 'Melt'... went to #1 in the UK. His 5th album 'So' in 1986 was a major hit, selling 5x platinum in the US... Peter Gabriel has continued to record solo albums and tour worldwide... (I believe) he is still friends w/ his former bandmates in Genesis. Some more Peter Gabriel hits - "I don't remember" ... 'Shock the monkey' ... 'Sledgehammer' ... 'Biko' ... 'Solsbury Hill"
Never heard of Genesis? Peter Gabriel was their main singer-songwriter composer (until he left the band) and Phill Collings took over. Phill sang Gabriel's songs, but often had no idea what they were about. Watch "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel - ua-cam.com/video/WeYqJxlSv-Y/v-deo.htmlsi=n2WpM2Zy-17bYTQm (original) Genesis - "The Carpet Crawlers" (Peter Gabriel) before Phill was with Genesis ua-cam.com/video/2yUN6CsuVPw/v-deo.htmlsi=7cPArvwQp68d56Q2
Aww man the Secret World live version with Paula Cole is easily the best version, wish you had done that one!
I was thinking that as well.
Its his Song dont be so Friggin Rude.
@@tradeladder146 It would be rude to not let them know!
His concert movie Secret World concert is the best.
You HAVE to see his duet with Kate Bush "Don't Give Up". Two wonderful singers doing a touching song.
YES!!! This is a beautiful and very moving duet, and their voices are incredible together. The official video is also very simple, on the surface, but perfect for this song.
One of the most beautiful duets ever recorded!

Yep, Paula Cole is pretty hard to beat. You should definitely watch that version it’s legendary.

"Sledgehammer" is his other signature song...and the video is probably the most iconic video of the entire 1980s

Thank you
Love this performance being a Peter Gabriel fan but for a first timer I would recommend the original studio for many reasons.
Gennesis was his original band
Have You guys ever heard Billie Ellish and Finnish? Oscar winners.. "What was I made for " , will make those happy tears jump out! Look forward to watching your reactions! Ty!
Written by Peter Gabriel. This song was in the movie 🎥 Say Anything.
The cartoon TV 📺 show South Park tried to recreate this. But, Eric Cartman pushed play ▶️ on the wrong Peter Gabriel song 🎵! L 🤣L
Back to this concert. Paula Cole sings here. She left and went solo.

Billy Squire IN YOUR EYES.
I prefer the alternate version without the chanting which to me has a deeper and richer tone to it. UA-cam; Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes" (Extended 7" Edit)
Secret World live version is better.
❤
Wrong link. Here's the one it was supposed to be, a very special performance of this song:

I thought so, he was in genesis with phil collins.... the thing about live versions is they try to change up things or maybe its unintentional....
kathy and donna you two got to watch george carlin when he performs his skit on time i dont know if Lulu will get any of his jokes or not but seeing as you both are older you both will laugh your head off
When are you going to show Tina s she is one the greatest guitarist ever watch play through the fire and flame anyone who's not seen her look her up
Sevara Nazarkhan does the best. I know most don't know her. Paula Cole is great too.👍👍🦉

Dig Gabriel.
There is a video from a concert 10 to 15 years earlier of this song that has a better sound track, that is worth you checking out!
Is that Tony Levin on bass?
What? How ? Whyyyy! Okey dokey then!
Never heard of Genesis? Peter Gabriel was their main singer-songwriter composer (until he left the band) and Phill Collings took over. Phill sang Gabriel's songs, but often had no idea what they were about.
