Live on, through the music you react to! You two. Live. hope. Thank you. /Appreciate you both, and the influence your Dad has had in your open embrace holding so much great music here. Thank you from my small place in this universe. Live Forever, this is how we do it. Thank you again, for the connection.
@@3YearsApart1613 Thank you, I am humbled. It will be a serendipitous adventure, one that I hope to follow, and live in - this ever growing inspiration through a tenuous connection, we hear in our hearts together, as music. That was a cool letter my man I think what I appreciate about it is the fact that you're like some of us who are truly passionate about music some of us who could get locked away like Shawshank Redemption and not listen to music for a month but yet we can play the music in our heads that's how passionate we are.
Continue your Peter Gabriel journey with "Solsbury Hill," "Come Talk to Me," "Sledgehammer" (do yourselves a favor and watch the music video, and remember there *were* no music videos like that at the time it was made), "Big Time," and "Kiss That Frog" for a bit of silliness. "Shaking the Tree" also hits the African vibe some more. I"m 99 percent certain the woman onstage is Paula Cole, who's worth checking out in her own right. She's probably best known for contributing the theme song to Dawson's Creek, but that's not where I'd start; go for "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" or "Me" first. (Or "Throwing Stones" if that one passes parental muster.) Paul Simon also did some work with African artists, which to me comes through strongest in "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes," "Homeless" and "Under African Skies."
@@peterfromgermany2431 Because the only way anyone *ever* learns something about music is to try it out. There have been times that I discovered some artist and I’m like “Who kept this a secret from me all this time?”
You should make sure to try out Paula Cole’s debut album, Harbinger. It came out right about the time she was doing this tour (and right after, she was Sarah McLachlan’s opening act). Harbinger is phenomenal, but it was badly promoted, and the company that produced it went bust. She ended up still being eligible for the Best New Artist Grammy when her second album came out.
The entire concert video of "Secret World Live" is excellent. I've got the CD's from the concert and even had the DVD at one point. You want to do another song from this you'll need to watch "Secret World" itself. Great song, and you get to hear Paula Cole really belt it out. Also, when she does the secondary vocal on "Don't Give Up" you'll see her at ther best. Btw, you two are to young to know/realize this. This song is a love song to another person. Give it about 10 years and after you have met someone you have deep love for you'll understand the meaning of the phrase "The light, the heat... in your eyes. I am complete."
Always nice to see another generation picking up on great music from my day. I saw Peter Gabriel on the tour before this one, when "In Your Eyes" was a new song. Youssou N'Dour was the opening act, and for this song (last song of the night), Youssou N'dour, his entire band, and his dozen or so Senegalese dancers joined Peter Gabriel for an extra-special conclusion to a special concert. Wish you could've been born to see it; profoundly grateful that I was. Please keep on doing what you're doing, it makes us oldies proud.
I don't know if i missed it, but, I don't know if anyone told you that this is the song playing in the iconic 80s scene where John Cusack is holding up the boombox over his head from the movie 'Say Anything.'
Tony Levin plays whit Jordan Rudes, John Petrucci and mike portnoy from Dream Theater in liquid tension experiment. Tremendous band. And I mean King Crimson. The best of progressive rock for me. Greetings from Chile.
Mr. Levin is one of the hardest-working bass players in the world. What I really like is when he gets down on his Chapman Stick with the ultra-Prog Rock group Stick Men; usually between King Crimson tours.
A song you would like to fall asleep to had my eyes welling up! What a lovely thing to say about a song. Thanks for your critique on one of my favourite performances of all time ❤
Peter Gabriel, original singer for the classic English Prog band Genesis He has a lot of great songs. Salsbury Hill , is a favorite of mine, Games Without Frontiers is another great track, Biko which is a song paying honor to Steve Biko who was murdered after he spoke out against the racist South African government
In all the years I've known of this song, I never really listened to the lyrics. It's an incredible love song, also, I agree with Stuart...very colorful & joyful.
Peter Gabriel fans are few and far between I don't think there are that many people out there anymore that truly get this wonderful wonderful artist case in point my favorite Peter Gabriel song San Jacinto
Awesome job! Peter is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE artists! I’ve seen him perform thing song several times. I saw the SO tour where he performed this song, back in 1987! Great job... as usual!!! I too saw him at the concert in 1993.
Love how Claire got drawn in to the performance and the music. You could just see her start moving to the music, and start smiling. So good for an old fart like me to see younger people enjoy this great music!!!
It's rare that I am ever pleasantly surprised by a concert version of a song and "In Your Eyes" is a song I am familiar with and like very much. I really enjoyed watching this video and loved the song as they did it hear. Speaking of "In Your Eyes", I watched both of you and loved the intensity in your eyes as you watched, those wonderful brains soaking in all the video had to offer. I also love that you're seeing how diverse people can come together with all sorts of varied talents to combine and make something beautiful. This is going to be a vital aspect of your future living in this world if humanity is to move forward successfully. I hope you see, appreciate and internalize all that you saw in this video. For my own part, I will be watching for when Peter Gabriel comes through Toronto so that I can go see him live as I haven't made the effort so far even though I've learned to enjoy his music. By the way, I would have given you 10 thumbs up if I (and UA-cam) were built that way. LOL
I agree. The kids eyes lit up. Thus, In Your Eyes. Their reaction was great. I still react that way every time i watch a Gabriel dvd. He is such a great frontman.
If you like the live performance of this tune, check out Jeffrey Gaines: ua-cam.com/video/GV9bmjvnW3Y/v-deo.html One of the greatest artists almost no one has heard of.
I saw PG on the secret world tour and it was just like watching a bunch of friends having a great times making fantastic music. PG has written may fantastic songs
I was actually in the audience that night! My then girlfriend, Clare, was from Bath. Peter Gabriel lived in Box, the neighboring town. We used to walk the walking paths in Box that passed by Peter's studio. We are both still big Peter Gabriel fans!
What I love about you guys reacting is it's genuine. You hear the nuances of the music and you can see it on your faces. So many reactors reacting to the samething, saying the samething. It gets old. Watching you guys with young fresh eyes and ears is 🔥. I'm so glad I found your channel.
Peter Gabriel has a smooth yet raspy voice, one of a kind. His solo work and his work from the old Genesis days are some of my favorite. Great song! Great reaction!
It's a song about how he struggles hard, and long, to exhaustion and despair, dealing with the tragedies fo the world...but finds solace and regeneration in the presence, and, the admiration of his True Love...
To the rest of us that may send a letter, good luck following that gem!! Right in the feels. This version of the song was new to me as well. Thanks Stuart!!
Now check out Peter Gabriel 20 years earlier with his band Genesis performing Watcher Of The Skies. Hard to believe it's the same guy: ua-cam.com/video/z5NOV0-EH0c/v-deo.html
That was a beautiful venue, Peter Gabriel is the best. You would have to have been their to have felt the emotion of the music. Oh you need to watch Peter Gabriel with Genesis in the early years, he was also a performer. I’m a fan for years ...
So glad to see you kids enjoying the best.. Peter Gabriel is an incredible composer, singer lyricist and stage performer/choreographer. His band were hand picked by Peter and my favourites in this group are Tony Levin on Bass, Manu Katche (pronounced Man-oo Kat-chay) on drums and the sensational Paula Cole on vocals, check out her albums 'This Fire' and 'Amen' for starters.. Such a great vibe they created on stage and the song itself is brilliant with fantastic lyrics and sentiments. Keep it going guys! 😀😁😂🤣😃😎
In the movie "Say Anything"... the boy (John Cusak), holds up his boombox and "serenades" the girl (Ione Skye), through her window with this song. That's my mom's car behind him ! Classic movie scene. Filmed in Seattle area. Sold car to film company, (and I was an extra in movie). What's funny is, I've been in the back of that car when I was a teen. Never you mind why. ;-)
Great selection, I love Peter Gabriel. Not something you would want to react to but if you want to hear something stunningly beautiful give Peter Gabriel, Passion a listen. it is pure perfection.
Ah... the memories... This song takes me back. It was one of my favorite love songs. I second an earlier comment that you two should check out the movie "Say Anything."
Thank you for reacting to Peter Gabriel!! Although there is so much Peter Gabriel music to choose from, this is my favorite song of his. You all have reacted to a lot if good music, but Peter Gabriel is probably the most prolific artist you will ever react to. Thank you!!!!
Honestly, this is the first time I've listening to a good peaceful song in my life. In my many years I've been pass through to listen extremist music genre like Metal and almost my ears been rip off and my soul is been in flames of fire just to listen all kinds of Metal genre. But this, it's peaceful and relaxing song I've ever heard. Anyway it's a good song to listen once in awhile and nice reaction. GodBless and take your time, youngsters.. Monday Afternoon. :) from 🇵🇭
Also... I've seen well over 600 concerts (sometimes as a roadie), but this show with Peter Gabriel in '93 in Paris... (saw this in Tacoma Dome earlier), is in my Top Ten shows ever. By the way, all those people are clicking their lighters on beat. I had no idea. Surprised me ! And the woman is Paula Cole. (She has a few hits like "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone") Incredible "halfway back" extra stage was right in front of me.
Great choice brings back memories of a concert I went to see of his in the 80s at the Greek Theater in the Los Angeles Hills we're after the concert my car broke down and with my girlfriend behind the wheel I pushed the car until we were going downhill jumped on the back and rode it all the way to Sunset Boulevard what a night what a concert thanks
Love your reactions and the interactions that you two have together. It's cool seeing people as young as you react to music from when I was growing up. A couple of great songs that you should listen to are: Molly Hatchets, "Dreams I'll never see", and Men at Works "Down Under".
When you finally get to a Genesis song when Gabriel was in the band, make sure it is a live version so Claire and Walker can see one of the costumes he wore on stage.
Sorry, you might not want to do that song because he says that "d" word that comes before Yankees.. Here he becomes the Old Man in The Musical Box. ua-cam.com/video/AFBY4dvoISc/v-deo.html
@@peterfromgermany2431 I do it because music is such an important part of my life. When I was a kid I had no idea what the difference between good music and bad music was but I figured it out over time. I like to share my knowledge of music with people especially kids because yes they may not get the deeper meaning of a lot of songs but they will learn just like I did.
Check out Peter Gabriel's dvd Back To Front - Live in London. It's the 25th anniversary tour of SO. This is my favorite PG concert. Great song list and stage show. The lighting will make your jaw fall off of your face. The band is in fine form and the crowd loves every second of it. Dad if you haven't seen this dvd please check it out. I guarantee it will become a favorite of yours.Solsbury Hill is worth the price of admission alone!!!
Gabriel never disappoints. From his early days in Genesis to his last album, he has produced music that is extraordinary. He has also done so much to promote world music and art over the past decades. A true innovator and artist. Not to mention his part in the downfall of apartheid in South Africa, check out the song "Biko". A hero if ever there was one. If you like the African influence you really should check out Paul Simon's album, "Graceland"
One does not just listen to much of Peter Gabriel's music. You experience it. This is a prime example. Such a creative, innovative, and interesting writer. His whole catalogue is worth checking out, from his solo stuff all the way back to his work with Genesis.
Do watch the whole concert video if you can. Great songs by Peter Gabriel like Sledgehammer (famous animated video!) plus Don’t Give Up. The female singer is Paula Cole. Well done saying all the names!
His pretty backup singer with the black hair is his daughter. Solsbury Hill is a true story of when he quit the band Genesis. And he's famous worldwide. Did a huge concert for Nelson Mandela in South Africa.
The backup singer is Paula Cole. I think she sang Where Have All The Cowboys Gone. His daughers at this time were only like 15-16 years old. They sang with him on his Growing Up tour 10 years later, but not this one.
I wish the studio version had the joyful mystical intro this live version has but both versions are amazing! Glad you two finally heard this anthem from the great Peter Gabriel, former frontman of Genesis! It needs a second listen in my opinion lol!
Peter Gabriel is one of the best frontman in the business going back to his days with Genesis. No matter which version of In Your Eyes that i hear it still gives me the chills. Just a simply remarkable song. The live versions just got better and better over the years. Definitely a crowd favorite. Alot of information for the kids to react to which they did a phenomenal job! My suggestion to Claire and Walker is to listen to the album SO in its entirety. Fantastic album!
This is yet another iconic 80s song. Was featured in quite a few movie but most notably Say Anything with John Cusack. You know the scene....a guy in the rain standing outside of his loves home with radio over his head. Ask your Dad...he knows what I'm talking about. Peter Gabriel is super talented whether he was with Genesis or as a solo he has an amazing category of songs. Check out Sledgehammer! You'll get a kick out of the video
Another great Peter Gabriel song to try is "Shock the Monkey." Also, for more African music, you might want to check out Paul Simon's Graceland album, especially the song "You Can Call Me Al." Keep up the good work; as always, you are tons of fun to watch, and I am gladly recommending you to anyone who will listen!
Fantastic you are getting into some live Peter Gabriel, he is so innovative, there are some great suggestions in the other comment for further listening, but I would suggest Growing Up Live from the Growing Up Tour, other great songs from this Live Tour are Salisbury Hill and Downside Up (a duet with his daughter)

Never you mind why. ;-)
Truly, one of the most beautiful songs ever. Reminds me of my beautiful wife. 😌
Awww...how sweet
Peter Gabriel " Wars Without Frontiers " that's his best song in my opinion
I believe you're referring to "Games without Frontiers". And you're spot on, it's awesome!
Games Without Frontiers
Jeux sans frontières = one of my all time favorites. Thank you for mentioning it.
Jeux sans frontières
That's got to be awfully embarrassing, not even knowing the proper title to your fave tune by an artist...
You are knocking it out of the park guys. Excellent review! You guys will have a letter and few surprise items arriving soon. Best wishes! :)
Awesome..can't wait
Fantastic live show
Great selection, I love Peter Gabriel.
I was there, at this concert while filming, Modena, Italy... ❤️
I wanna meet Stuart from Scotland! He has great taste in music and knows his stuff!! Love how he describes this song in his letter!
(She has a few hits like "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone")
Incredible "halfway back" extra stage was right in front of me.
You can't tell me this song doesn't make u feel genuinely fulfilled😃
This is definitely one of my favorite live performances that I've seen!
Love your reactions and the interactions that you two have together. It's cool seeing people as young as you react to music from when I was growing up. A couple of great songs that you should listen to are: Molly Hatchets, "Dreams I'll never see", and Men at Works "Down Under".
I realized I'm watching way too many of these when I started walking up to strangers and saying, "Hey, guys! I'm Mike and I'm 50." ;-)
it had the very same impact on me when I first saw this video. That is why I keep coming back to it
adorable! and great music to hear for them)
When you finally get to a Genesis song when Gabriel was in the band, make sure it is a live version so Claire and Walker can see one of the costumes he wore on stage.
Like . . . THIS ONE: ua-cam.com/video/QVyfj7-mHqs/v-deo.html
Here he is as Britannia in Dancing With the Moonlit Knight. ua-cam.com/video/DaY4r_9xIOI/v-deo.html
Sorry, you might not want to do that song because he says that "d" word that comes before Yankees.. Here he becomes the Old Man in The Musical Box. ua-cam.com/video/AFBY4dvoISc/v-deo.html
What was an awesome love song used in the movie Say Anything they turned it intona worldwide collaboration and made it even more beautiful.
You have to do the music video for Sledgehammer. It weird, wild and wonderful.
or "Shock the Monkey"..also a great early MTV era video
Sledgehammer features the wife and daughter!!
Why do you write music suggestions to two children who have no idea about music? What's the point?
@@peterfromgermany2431 I do it because music is such an important part of my life. When I was a kid I had no idea what the difference between good music and bad music was but I figured it out over time.
I like to share my knowledge of music with people especially kids because yes they may not get the deeper meaning of a lot of songs but they will learn just like I did.
Thanks, well done.
This concert tour was the first time I saw PG live. Have been a fan ever since. There were two stages at this concert. Watch Come Talk to Me.
It’s great seeing young kids getting introduced to new/old music. Maybe some Oingo Boingo next.
Their song Little Girls didn't age well lol
"Dead Man's Party"... for Halloween.
Brian Alexandre “Just Another Day”...
YES INDEED! The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo (Original name of this amazing group and such a very talented band of brothers as musicians.)
just a great song.
Do watch the whole concert video if you can. Great songs by Peter Gabriel like Sledgehammer (famous animated video!) plus Don’t Give Up. The female singer is Paula Cole. Well done saying all the names!
This was the last song of the set for the DVD he released of this show. The actual last song from this set was his song here comes the floods.
I would love to have the musical playlist of the guy that wrote that letter.
One of my favorites!
Loved this song when it was released but never seen this particular performance. Awesome
I can see it in their eyes.... mesmerized.... Peter Gabriel is a Theatrical full Hearted Poet. thia on reminds me of Solesbury Hill
Nice reaction to one of the coolest songs ever
Great song. Thanks for a terrific reaction.
Such a beautiful song
Peter Gabriel is surely the best artist and entertainer. Great live shows both with Genesis and solo. :)
Peter Gabriel, Biko. Shows great music can touch you in different ways even sadness.
You need to hear "Here comes THE flood" " Intruder", Family snapshot" live in Athens. And " Lay your hands on me" Best stage dive ever!!
Shock The Monkey is a cool song. And "Games Without Frontiers"
Why do you write music suggestions to two children who have no idea about music? What's the point?
@@LearnToRefine “Jeux sans Frontieres”, s’il vous plait.
Beautiful
Great reaction, great song.
One of the geats. Good choice to choose from the "stuff" you react too. Hey, can I use your pool lol.Love and light
The Pool! :)
The best album by Gabriel is what his record label named "Security". Even though Peter named it "Peter Gabriel". It is a amazing musical journey.
