One of my favourite songs by Peter Gabriel, love his music, but what you said about it warmed my heart, because you are spot on! If all the people of the world watched this, it would make us all believe in world peace!

Watching Many Katche play the drums during this entire concert is like watching Jimi Hendrix play the guitar. An all time great drumming performance alongside this extraordinary concert and song
I'm glad you moved this beautiful performance to the top of your long list of requests. It is my single favorite concert moment. Peter is my musical hero. His selfless global humanitarian work is as meaningful as his music catalog. I was really distressed when he left Genesis, but i'm so glad he did for several reasons. If you are feeling down about life, his video duet with Kate Bush for "Don't Give Up" will inspire you. So much more I want to say! 😊
Right? I know I could go on and on about this master of the mic. I hope Lee deep dives into PG's amazing solo albums! "I Go Swimming", The songs "Lay Your Hands on Me" are just some of my faves by him. SIGH and my list goes onnnnn
You mentioned the infuence of world music... I don;t know if you realise it but Peter was one of the people to start the Western interest in it.... He started the W.O.M.A.D. festival in Britain in 1980.... In fact he sunk so much money into it that Genesis got back together with Peter as the front man again to put some money back into his pocket. And it is STILL going... He is truly an inclusive artist. I was lucky to see him in 2013 with the drummer, guitarist and bassist on the stage here when he toured the anniversary of the SO album.... They were also his base band on the album. Peter is one of the most innovative musicians I know.... He even had a PC game back out on the 90's I think... back in the early days of computers... And you were able to re-mix a bundle of his songs. Keep on Rocking Lee..... And watch more Peter live or at least listen to the album tracks.
Tony Levin on bass. He has been with Peter Gabriel. His entire solo career, which started in 1977 and the beautiful black haired. Singer is Paula Cole who went on to a very successful solo career. A rabbit hole worth going down.
The bass player, Tony Levin, has been around from PeterGabriel to Paul Simon, to King Crimson and others. Check his playing with Liquid Tension Experiment Live-with Dream theater's Jordan Rudess, Mike Portnoy and John Patrucci. Their combined playing will knock your socks off-guaranteed .Try cuts Acid Rain (playing the Chapman Stick), or Biaxadent.
You might find yourself equally moved by some of his performances of "Biko" -- a powerful tribute to Stephen Biko, a hero and martyr of the struggle to end apartheid in South Africa.
The tall bass player in a black long coat is Tony Levin who is a master at the bass guitar. He was in King Crimson in 1981 and plays many different types of bass instruments. Paula Cole is the wonderful singer and is awesome in her own right!
I was lucky enough to attend this show in Los Angeles, in 1993. Brilliantly staged by a French Canadian Theatre director, Robert Lepage. Gabriel cowrote this song with Senegal's biggest music star, Youssou N'Dour.
Paula Cole was flown from L.A. to Germany a few days before this concert was filmed in Italy. She replace Sinaed O'Connor who left the tour. this Secret World concert filmed is EPIC Paula Cole has a successful solo career.
Peter Gabriel introduced Third-World music to the Western World, with his 1980 and 1982 albums, both heavily influenced by his travels through Africa and South America. The song "Biko" from 1980 not only brought African polyrhythms to the West, but changed world politics by decrying South Africa's Apartheid horrors. He started it all, and then went further by creating and producing the annual WOMAD Festival, World of Music, Arts and Dance.
Yes but not the only.😉 Remain in Light by Talking Heads was also released 1980 took the music world by storm fusing Fela / Afro-Beat polyrhythms with funk and electronics. Their first was I Zimbra in 1979. Library of Congress deemed it culturally, historically, artistically significant and selected it for preservation in the National Recording Registry.
This song is featured in the movie called “Say Anything” starring John Cusack and directed by Cameron Crowe. Many people believe it’s the greatest use of a pop song in movie history. Peter Gabriel himself always mentions that movie in any interview in which this song comes up. if you’ve never seen it you’re in for a treat. I’ve seen polls that say the John Cusack character is the ‘greatest boyfriend’ in history of movies, and the ending of this movie is my favorite of all of the hundreds of movies I’ve seen in my life.
When I discovered this earlier this year, I sent it to so many people as a display of pure joy. I also cried watching it on repeat. A few years ago, I saw Peter Gabriel and Sting's tour (huge Sting fan). Came out of it dazzled by Peter Gabriel based on his performance level and charisma.
This tour has become legendary for obvious reasons 😎 This song and Shaking the Tree especially. It SLAYS me that I missed it, but, you know - sometimes life demands attention. These audiences remember this for the rest of their lives, you’re absolutely right about all the world’s cultures sharing beauty and joy and kindness and yes: love. German filmmaker Wim Wenders wrote that dreams are the soul singing to itself. And the arts are the human soul singing out loud: the arts predate LANGUAGE! I’ve a musician friend who still goes to see Gabriel live tours including just last year and says he’s still great.
Solution, buy it on Bluray, upgrade your stereo, and listen to entire concert - EVERY song in that concert is amazing. I especially love the first track also - Talk To Me.
Hey Lee! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the dvd BACK TO FRONT. It's the 25th anniversary tour of the album SO which has In Your Eyes on it. Blows this version AWAY!!! This concert dvd will become one of your favorites!!! Trust me❗️❗️❗️😎
This performance is so insane. His early solo stuff is great. And then, he was great as the lead singer for “Genesis”. I hear he’s a really kind and generous man as well
I've been a prog-rock drummer for over 45 years and I have to take my hat off to the drummer. It would normally take a drummer and a percussionist to do what he did on his own. Paula Cole on vocals is an artist in her own right. As you said, what a set of pipes. What a line-up. What a performance. I like you dude......a gentle soul like myself. Must be a drummer thing. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
His name is Manu Katché, he has been in Peter's tour band and on his solo records for a long time and also played with lots of different musicians in his career.
The very last song of Woodstock 94. We had been building the stages for a month, I had been awake 96 hours, mostly 105ft in the air, keeping the roof system together.Ti say I was Exhausted doesn't begin to cover it. Ended up having to replace a follow spot operator who had passed out. It was a great way to end the Festival
the "black haired lady" is Paula Cole... she actually had a couple of pretty big hits, probably best known is "where have all the cowboys gone". but in this context, she's just one part of a very complex whole. I totally agree... this is the life they don't tell you about, the one we should concentrate on... what it can be. it gives me hope for the world when little else does. oh dear... dark and cheezy at the same time. anyway, nice reaction... another excuse to check out an amazing track. thanks!
❤❤❤This is what you experience when you go to a Peter Gabriel concert...a concert or an event of Unification! A movement he and former girlfriend, Kate Bush, Bono of U2, David Byrne, and many other artists started in the 80's....and are continuing.
Peter Gabriels's bassist, Tony Levin, really gets down as part of Liquid Tension Experiment with Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, and Jordan Rudess.
A couple of things… Peter Gabriel started out as a drummer… so his career is a testament to rhythms. (His third solo album, he took the cymbals away from Phil Collins and other drummers for the whole album). Check out “Rhythm Of The Heat” or “Intruder”… His live work is ALWAYS phenomenal… his performance with GENESIS on “The Musical Box” from The Midnight Special is mesmerizing. Amen to your closing rant.
You/we are in for a real treat, this is Gabriel at his finest. Saw him in the UK on his ‘So’ tour, he had a great talent in adapting his own music and bringing it to a wider audience as he did here.
Oh man you have to watch this concert "Shaking the Tree" There's a lot of history behind this song and his band, and Paula Cole has a crazy amazing voice! ❤ Love your reaction to this one!
I saw this tour in Oakland, CA. Good memories. The Paula Cole part was sung by the late Sinead O'Connor on the record, but she was unable to do the tour. Paula Cole launched her career from this.
Went to this concert. Phoenix was the closest to LA.we could get tickets. They had multiple cameras recording, so could have been... I believe the woman with the phenomenal voice is his daughter. Goes without saying she show was fuckin' amazing
PG developed an interest in African music in the late 70's (mainly because he's always been a drummer himself at heart), although African music had been a presence in the UK for years, through groups like Osibisa and musicians like Rebop Kwaku Baah who had played with the band Traffic. Peter's interest in promoting musicians from 'the third world' prompted him to found WOMAD in 1980. It nearly bankrupted him, but it's why he brought them along on his tours all throughout the 80's. In the 90's his interest in world music was sort of replaced with a fascination with emerging technologies, especially those around communication. It's one reason his albums take so long, is he's doing all this personal R&D work that then goes into his new music.
Really great to see your appreciation for this!!! I was fortunate to see Peter Gabriel this past October, and as with most of his shows "In Your Eyes" was the encore. The female singer was Paula Cole. If you enjoyed this, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out "Don't Give Up" from this same concert!!!
This was an encore, I think the first encore, followed by Biko. A lot of the musicians on this song are from the opening band, Papa Wemba. Drummer Manu Kathe was on the latest tour. Of course, Tony Levin on bass! Stage crews came up at the end.
i have seen this Tour twice, it blew my mind. Just on my own , with a great uplifting LemonHaze, I absorbed Peter's Secret World. Now I have seen Yes, KC, Gentle Giant, I have seen them all. But this concert was far out the best I have ever seen. Please give your comments on San Jacinto or the song Secret World. Or even do a concert review, you will love it.
I got very emotional the 1st time I saw this video. One of the most joyous live performances I've ever seen. How lucky were the people who saw that tour!? I HIGHLY recommend Shaking The Tree from this same Secret Live tour video, along with Red Rain. Both are simply epic and amazing like this one is!
It always amuses me that there are so many connections between prog bands. The bass player here is Tony Levin, playing for Genesis founding member Peter Gabriel. Levin was also the bassist for Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe (a spinoff of Yes), as well as being a prominent member of King Crimson off and on since 1981 (along with Adrian Belew, the dress-wearing guitarist from Zappa's "Punky's Whips"). He was also the first choice for Mahavishnu Orchestra, but he turned it down. And he was in a supergroup with Terry Bozzio.
Your reaction was very perceptive. And your words about people very wise. Peter's solo career uses alot of world music.he even has his own world music label. To see him really connect with a crowd, watch him do Lay your Hands on Me live, its magical.
'Don't Give Up' from the same show is the highlight for me, originally a duet with Kate Bush from his 'So' album it shows Paula Cole at her best. BTW this concert is available for purchase and ranks right up there with any concert film released.
Bassist Tony Levin was also a member of King Crimson, one of the first and finest of Progressive Rock bands. Levin, in the late 1970s, was one of the first musicians to play and record on the Chapman Stick, when it was still largely unknown to the public. He is one of the most inventive and ingenious bassists ever.
Singer Paula Cole had her own hit in the mid-1990s ("Where have all the cowboys gone"). Give it a review someday. Also the entire Secret World concert, which is a visual treat as well as an audible one.
I saw Gabriel with Tony Levin on bass, and his the rest of his whole band, 3rd row, in October. Amazing show!! Greatness!! Listen to Red Rain, Big Time, Sledgehammer. ☮️❤️🎄🎼
Peter has some excellent solo ventures. Some great cuts; Wallflower. Here comes the flood. Biko. Salsbury Hill., Down the Dulce Vida. Red Rain. San Jacinto. Mercy Street. and for me, his deepest cut, Signal to Noise
I wanted to leave a rather lengthy post but perhaps I will add more later, for now I just wanted to say that the female singer named Paula Cole who was best know for a song in the 80's, that no where nearly showed her vocal abilities IMHO called Where Have All the Cowboys Gone? You may want to check it out because it is a great song, nonetheless. And yes! Truly a creative genius! Thanks for this! As long as it's this version I watch it every single time a reactor shares it because it never disappoints. Hope everyone's holiday season is filled with all of your favorite things. Guess I ended up saying it all, anyway!😉
I LOVE this performance. The diversity of brilliant musicians, a picture of the world as it should be. The joy, the feel, the music, Paula Cole's incredible voice added - it's just wonderful and it really warms my heart. I too get emotional at the end, for some reason, pretty much every time I watch it (and I've watched it many many times). Thanks for reacting to it. Loved it!
Peter Gabriel has said when he writes a song he starts with the rhythm (as a drummer). Love his subtle choreography. Peter and Paul Simon were instrumental in bringing 'world beat' music to the West. He started a yearly festival to highlight other artists focused on world-beat music. Even today his Real World Studio continues the work. His work with Amnesty International is legendary.
I saw this tour in Denver in '93 with a close friend. It was incredible and incredibly LOUD. I was in my mid 40's at that point and was paying for my auditory abuse in the 70's! The stage and production was incredible!
The lady is American session singer Paula Cole who 30 years later is still working having kicked off her solo career following this tour with Peter. 🇬🇧
If you loved this vibe, you must react to Mumford and Son with Baaba Maal live from South Africa singing,There Will Be Time! A literal masterpiece of culture ,passion, and musicianship!
Paula Cole "Where have all the cowboys gone"🔥🔥🔥
So moving! I can't tell you how many times I've seen this and my heart swells every time!!!
Bad a$$ drummer Manu😊
All the musicians on that stage were awesome, but his drumming was on another level.
Paula Cole. Awesome voice. The whole concert simply amazing.
I get teary-eyed every time i hear this song. Top 3 favorite songs of all time for me!
I'm glad you moved this beautiful performance to the top of your long list of requests. It is my single favorite concert moment. Peter is my musical hero. I hear you brother. saw this tour in Toronto.

The female singer is Paula Cole, the Bass Player is Tony Levin, also with King Crimson
One of the best on bass in my opinion.
THE WHOLE SECRET WORLD TOUR WITH PAULA COLE IS AMAZING! AND YES HE IS AN ABSOLUTE CREATIVE GENIUS! ❤😁 THANKS SO SO MUCH
The entire "Secret World" concert is worth a watch. You will be impressed.
Agreed, I love it.
100%
You are spot on that they make you think we are divided. In reality we are not. We are seeking each other as this music and performance shows!
Tony Levin on bass. He has been with Peter Gabriel. His entire solo career, which started in 1977 and the beautiful black haired. Singer is Paula Cole who went on to a very successful solo career. A rabbit hole worth going down.

I was in the front row of the circular stage. Best show I ever saw! The DVD is a must-see.
Amazing bro... what an experience 😊
Peter is insanely talented and this whole concert is incredible!! Paula Cole gives one of her best performances!!
I saw this tour and 30 years later it still remains the greatest concert I've ever seen (and I've seen most of the greats).
This song is featured in the movie called “Say Anything” starring John Cusack and directed by Cameron Crowe.
Many people believe it’s the greatest use of a pop song in movie history. Peter Gabriel himself always mentions that movie in any interview in which this song comes up.

Yeah, me too, at the end when Peter sing the last '..it's in your eyes...'' He get me emotional each time.
Two musics you shoud listen from Peter: "The Rhythm of the Heat" and "Lay Your Hands On Me".
This tour has become legendary for obvious reasons 😎 This song and Shaking the Tree especially.
It SLAYS me that I missed it, but, you know - sometimes life demands attention.

Holy shit. Very much incredible performance. African music has so much passion, so much vibrance.
Another rabbit-hole for you to explore, Solsbury Hill, Sledgehammer and so much more, joyous stuff. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Paula Cole is the fantastic vocalist.
Yea. That last lyric got me too.😂
The double violinist is L Shankar, whose career you should check out also. His work with John Mclaughlin and Zakir Hussain in Shakti is mesmerizing.
John is amazing!! I will definitely check it out 😊
Oh and that's the legendary Mr. Tony Levin on bass! You may recognise him from King Crimson!
Hey Lee! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the dvd BACK TO FRONT. It's the 25th anniversary tour of the album SO which has In Your Eyes on it. Blows this version AWAY!!! This concert dvd will become one of your favorites!!! Trust me❗️❗️❗️😎
He has written some of the BEST music I've ever heard.
All you had to say was perfect.
This performance is so insane. His early solo stuff is great. And then, he was great as the lead singer for “Genesis”. I hear he’s a really kind and generous man as well
Welcome to one of the best love songs ever!
✌️❤️🇬🇧
Those who feel the rhythm know how quickly it can change...
@@L33Reactsyep. And nothing changes more than prog-rock.
His name is Manu Katché, he has been in Peter's tour band and on his solo records for a long time and also played with lots of different musicians in his career.
Omg the drummer on this is insanely talented
The very last song of Woodstock 94. If you don't know who the drummer, Manu Katché, is then check him out. World class.

Peter was on my bucket list, I got to see him on this tour with the same musicians. What I saw that night was unbelievable!!!!!
❤❤❤This is what you experience when you go to a Peter Gabriel concert...a concert or an event of Unification! A movement he and former girlfriend, Kate Bush, Bono of U2, David Byrne, and many other artists started in the 80's....and are continuing.
It is up to your generation to forge forward with Love, Joy, Peace, and Unification!😊
Peter Gabriels's bassist, Tony Levin, really gets down as part of Liquid Tension Experiment with Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, and Jordan Rudess.
What a great choice my friend! The girl in the blue dress is Melanie, his daughter!
I saw Peter Gabriel 4 times in different states and also this tour here that you’re watching. The whole audience danced
A couple of things…
Peter Gabriel started out as a drummer… so his career is a testament to rhythms. (His third solo album, he took the cymbals away from Phil Collins and other drummers for the whole album). You/we are in for a real treat, this is Gabriel at his finest. Saw him in the UK on his ‘So’ tour, he had a great talent in adapting his own music and bringing it to a wider audience as he did here.
He and these musicians made something so special here. I mean good lord. How can you not love this???
your heart has to shrink some not to! 😅
Nothing misses on this concert. I dare you to check out all the songs.
Tony Levin on bass and Manu Katche on drums, What a rhythm section.
Peter is an amazing artist. I have actually had religious moments at his concerts. All his shows are different too.
Dude I believe it !! I can't imagine the feeling you get from being there. I bet it is pure bliss at points. What an artist..
Went to this concert. Phoenix was the closest to LA.we could get tickets. They had multiple cameras recording, so could have been...
I believe the woman with the phenomenal voice is his daughter. Goes without saying she show was fuckin' amazing

Seen this tour in Toronto in 93. One of my top 5 favourite concerts that I've attended. Incredible experience!
Soooou amazing Peter Gabriel at the best, love ❤
This was an encore, I think the first encore, followed by Biko. A lot of the musicians on this song are from the opening band, Papa Wemba. Drummer Manu Kathe was on the latest tour. Of course, Tony Levin on bass! Stage crews came up at the end.

This entire concert video is available on UA-cam. I highly recommend it.
Iconic performance 😊😊😊❤❤❤

I got very emotional the 1st time I saw this video. One of the most joyous live performances I've ever seen. How lucky were the people who saw that tour!? I HIGHLY recommend Shaking The Tree from this same Secret Live tour video, along with Red Rain. Both are simply epic and amazing like this one is!
Watch the whole concert. You will be glad you did.
It wasn't a black lady singing at the end, it was Papa Wemba ( a famous singer from Congo )

Peter's recent concert at 73 yrs old was spectacular.
The female singer is Paula Cole, who had a hit of her own in the MTV days. Great tune!
I saw Peter Gabriel a couple times. The shows was awesome. It was very evident and logical that Peter would only get very professional musicians.
Paula Cole on vocals. Tony Levin on bass of course who also played with King Crimson.
This is the most magical performance of all times!
From his very first solo album, Gabriel has blazed a path of extraordinary music....
What a lovely reaction. THANKS MAN. 🙏🏽
That beautiful black haired lady is Paula Cole.
Great reaction well said at the end couldn't agree more. This song is a great performance by talented people that touches you. 🤟
This is such an uplifting performance. It never fails to put a smile on my face.
It was absolutely awe inspiring. I feel honored to have witnessed this.
Loved it!
The woman is Paula Cole, from Twin Cities, Minnesota
Another cool tune from this tour, also featuring Paula Cole is Shaking The Tree.
Seriously - this is great…….no actually it is GREAT!
Bro this was breathtaking... I mean seriously.
I saw this tour live. It is still in my top 5 greatest concerts of all time and I've seen hundreds.
One of my favorite PG tours….
This just speaks directly to your soul. Incredible.
I saw this tour in Denver in '93 with a close friend. It was incredible and incredibly LOUD. I was in my mid 40's at that point and was paying for my auditory abuse in the 70's! The stage and production was incredible!
Paula Cole is the female. You should check out Family Snapshot, Wallflower, San Jacinto, Shock the Monkey from his earlier albums!
"Wallflower" is a powerful song about political prisoners that should be listened to after hearing "Biko."
The whole concert is easily accessed online, just google the concert title add live, and it will pop up. Definitely worth a watch.
Yeah I'm gonna be doing come talk to me next time! Can't wait to hear it.
That really was beautiful !!!
amen, dude.
as a 69+ y.o. Gabriel fan, it's all about treating others how you wish to be treated,
none of the other crap matters.
The lady is American session singer Paula Cole who 30 years later is still working having kicked off her solo career following this tour with Peter. 🇬🇧
Maybe my favorite PG song. Many a tear has rolled down my cheeks listening and watching this video.
Bro at the end I could not hold the tears back. What a performance
If you loved this vibe, you must react to Mumford and Son with Baaba Maal live from South Africa singing,There Will Be Time! A literal masterpiece of culture ,passion, and musicianship!
