This is the true story of how I got started as a woodworker and youtuber. I really didn’t touch any tools before 2019, and I really got started in 2020. And no, I didn’t have any experience filming and editing before the summer of 2020, where I filmed my first video (Garden table made from a pallet).
I also owe big thanks to @jimmydiresta , @PatLap, @JackmanWorksand @turgworks4138 for always getting back to me when I ask them stupid questions.
I'm an ambassador for @rubiomonocoatscandinavia (Denmark). I'm not paid so say anything, but obviously I wouldn't become an ambassador if I didn't absolutely love their wood finishes.
I have been able to get a good amount of tools in my shop over the last year. I’m not a full time woodworker, and because I also have another job that supports my cost of living, I’m able to put everything I make from the woodworking back as investments in tools in my shop. It has been all hard work, but you’re welcome to make a comment about how fortunate I am to have a shop full of woodworking tools that magically have appeared overnight. But just know that I take care of a dayjob, work in the workshop in the evenings and edit videos for UA-cam many nights.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. Yes
Jesper mate, your personality and story telling really bring your videos to life. That's why we love you :)
I appreciate that!
I have a friend that has passed away. he was big on making pallet projects and they were cool, well he got me hooked. long story short, your channel is awesome. And now im hooked on you channel. You have a big Fan now.. thank you. 😊
Sorry to hear about your friend, but I'm glad you're carrying on the passion for pallet projects. Sometimes the craft and a good channel can be a comforting friend. Coffee's on me, virtually speaking! ☕
congratulations! You deserve all the success!
Thank you! You too!
I find it incredibly inspiring that it's the people who commented and spit on your beautiful work that actually got your channel flying.
Yeah everything helps 😀. I do embrace the negative comments as well, sometimes there's truth to be found in them. Sometimes it's just babbel.
This was awesome, man! So glad I could be a part of this. I’m sad that the storm stole your tree, but you definitely loosened it.
Thanks for being part of the video Morley, and I got my tree back, it was just a little more work 😀
I'm a descendant of Denmark. And seeing your videos not only has great entertainment value, but seeing the countryside certainly makes it encouraging to return there. You live in a beautiful area
Great to hear from you. Yeah I like it here, but actually I think I would love it in the outback of Canada or Alaska too. Or New Zealand. Where are you located?
Storyteller turns biographer. Jesper, 100K is well deserved because your work is interesting and different and so carefully documented and thoughtfully narrated. To know and understand a little more of how much hard work you have put in to get to where you are is very precious. You are functioning in a still uncharted space; a place where anyone in the world can have opinions about what you do, where likes and views are actually your physical bread and butter, where your fame is fragile and ephemeral. Where your work includes bearing the invisible burden of generating subscribers, let alone editing video and charging batteries and then actually making things. It is an inspirational story, one of sharing and reclaiming, one of risk taking and of joy. Thank you for what you do. May the gods of the sawdust continue to inspire and grow you and the many others that you reach.
Wow, your comment is truly a work of art! Your words perfectly capture the ups and downs of being a content creator on UA-cam. The fact that you took the time to understand the hard work and effort that goes into creating videos is truly appreciated. I can definitely relate to the idea of functioning in an uncharted space, where likes and views are the equivalent of bread and butter. It's a wild ride, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my passions and inspire others through my work.
The mention of the "gods of sawdust" made me laugh, and I couldn't agree more. May the creative juices continue to flow and inspire us all! Thank you for your support and for being a valuable member of my community. I'm thrilled to have you along for the journey.
Couldn’t have that better myself!😮👏
Bloody well done mate! Couldn’t happen to a nicer bloke 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Shane, I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without the support of you, Dainer and the rest of the Aussie gang! Forever grateful 🥲
Only just came across your channel and subscribed. After all, can't argue with a guy who is smart enough to know coffee solves everything.
Yeah, never argue with a guy high on caffeine 😂
Go do your own stuff.... Words to live by.
As a fellow Dane with woodworking in my blood; thank you for the inspiration! Keep up the great work 💪
Oh and btw, the rest of the world always think we're nuts...
Haha, maybe being a bit nuts is our secret to creating unique stuff, right? 💪 Thanks for the kind words, fellow Dane! Keep that woodworking spirit alive! What's the most Danish thing you've ever built? 🇩🇰
I'm not sure when I subbed, but the story is what always sells it for me, as well as inspiration. You're definitely one of the big influences on my own woodworking hobby.
So glad to hear you enjoy woodworking. Thanks for watching 🙏🙏.
Thank you, UA-cam for suggesting this channel. Subscribed
Thanks for subscribing friend 😊
I have nothing but respect from folks that can make things to sell and put the videos on youtube. I love woodworking but would have the confidence to put it out there for everyone to see. So well down for doing so well and creating great woodworking items and content!!
Thanks Chris, so happy you love woodworking. Happy building mate!
I have had a wonderful maker communication with your channel over the last year that has been a treasure for me.
I am grinning as I watch this video and reminisce about my memories with Jesper.
When I was hospitalized with an injury and feeling down, or
when I was struggling with the activity of making a video, Jesper was always there to cheer me up and give me a gentle push, you are irreplaceable.
So I am as happy for your achievement as I am for mine.
I say again...!!
100,000 subscribers, Congratulations!!!🎉🎉
Thank you so much for your kind words and for being a part of my UA-cam journey. Your support and encouragement have meant the world to me, especially during the times when I needed a boost. I am so glad to hear that I was able to make a positive impact on you and your maker experiences. Reaching 100,000 subscribers is a huge milestone and I couldn't have done it without your support. I am truly grateful and honored to have you as a friend and subscriber. Congratulations to you as well on your achievements. Here's to many more memories and successes in the future! 🎉🎉
Really inspiring video! Congratulations on getting the silver play button!
Thanks Phil ☺️
Congratulations, Jesper. Your videos are always such a treat. I wish there was a “more than like” button. You’re a real inspiration, I hope you keep up both the woodworking and the showing.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you for chopping away at the opposition in beginning and sticking with sharing your passion. I always enjoy watching your videos and hope one day I can make some amazing works of art like yours.
Thanks for the support mate!
Stop watching the news and go outside; a great prescription for all of us. Spent 10 days in Koge in the summer of 2008 working on the Logos Hope, a missionary ship belonging to OM Ships. Had a chance to spend some leisure time in Copenhagen. Beautiful country loaded with history but the most expensive place I have ever been. Love your work Jesper. Darlington, South Carolina USA
Hi, yeah it's a pretty expensive place here, still is. Great to hear your story. Take care
I came across your channel when you published the pallet block table, and it blew my mind. After that, I watched all your videos. I admire your creative designs and your sense of humor cracks me up every time. Congratulations on your first 100,000 subscribers! 🎉
Awesome! Thank you!
Congrats for 100k subs. I'm happy to be part of your ever increasing subscribers. Was waiting for another video from you for quite a while and glad it's here now.
Thank you so much 😀
Your videos shows a human making things. That's it. That sells it for me.
There's humanity in. Keep it going.
Thank you, I will
Really love and appreciate your channel Jesper, very inspiring and funny, keep up the great work.
Hey owen, thanks for the love! Super stoked you're finding the channel both inspiring and a good laugh. What's your go-to project when you need a bit of inspiration? ☕🛠
Hi Jesper I love anything that involves carving wood. Currently looking at trying to carve a family crest for a friend who is retiring. Have been absent for woodwork for a number of years due to a lack of space (only had a garage that was full of "stuff"). My son started woodwork in school and is really into it so I purchased a new shed so we could both get working on project. He has been asked by the school to carve the school sign as a project so it will probably come to me to get this one done which I'm really looking forward to. Keep up the good work Jesper I really want to try some of the pallet projects as I have access to some old pallets here at work and love the sustainability aspect of these projects. All the best Owen@@JesperMakes
You’ve done a lot of great videos but this one is your best yet.Beautiful story mate so honest and genuine and yes you put a lump in my throat you should be proud of what you’ve accomplished
Thanks Bradley, so glad to hear from you friend. Take care!
Stumbled upon your channel via @dainermade!
Great story you have there! And chopping that large tree as a measure of your success was a brilliant use of symbolism!!!
Wishing you success from the USA!
Hey, big shoutout to @dainermade for the introduction! Glad you enjoyed the story and caught the symbolism with the tree. What's your go-to woodworking project? Cheers from across the pond! 🛠☕
@@JesperMakes , my woodworking varies from project to project. Mostly gift related items.
Will be getting more into cabinet making in the future as I refurbish my boat.
But always something new and interesting to learn from experienced woodworkers!
Refurbishing a boat sounds like a massive but rewarding project! Cabinet making will definitely come in handy there. Don't forget, coffee solves everything when you hit a snag. 🛠☕
Excellent video on where you began your journey. We have been watching you almost from the beginning. We enjoy everyone of your videos .
Keep the journey going and take care my friend .
Thank you so much!
Your channel is one of my favorites. It’s a combo of interesting wood projects, editing style and comedic narrative! Keep it going. That was a cool timeline of your experience and channel growth. Thx for sharing
Wow, thanks!
Hilsen fra Amerika, Jesper. Min danske bedstemor immigrerede hertil i 1917. Jeg gør også krav på skotsk arv, men det er en anden historie.
Det er hjertevarmende at se meddanskere leve så vidunderlige liv derovre. Du er en inspiration, sir.

Thanks so much Scott. Were doing the best with what we got 😀
Nice one Jesper. I get braver everytime I watch you. I'm in the middle of throwing a guest bed together from pallets and fire wood towers. Thankyou.
Sounds brilliant, keep up the good work 👌👌
Have the right combo of content, video editing, &, especially, a pleasant narrative (your humor seals it for me!) & you stand a good chance of succeeding. I am so glad I found your channel. Congratulations on 100K subscribers & the new way of life!
Thanks 🙏🙏
I Love the style of your videos and creates great inspiration for us weekend warriors, well done on the 100K well deserved!!!
Thanks so much!
Your pallet block table showed up in my feed, watched it and you got my subscription straight away. Not to mention you gave me great ideas for my own projects. Congratulations on 100k Jesper, keep up the great work!
Thanks Nick, that's so great to hear.
My goodness …. you make beautiful wood furnishings 🥰
Ah, you're making me blush! 😊
Great story Jasper super happy for you. You always make beautiful videos.
Thanks Karl, looking forward to see your story to full time woodworker!
Jasper, you are an amazing person! You inspire people a lot by your simplicity and video documentation. I wish I had space and natural spaces like yours. Great pleasure to see your content. Big like and greetings from Israel.
Thanks 🙏 much appreciated.
it's nice to catch your behind scenes/story Jasper...and I'm proud to be one of your 100,000 subscribers...well done mate....

Thanks Jesper!
I really needed this video today!
I was about to give up yesterday, but thanks to this video I got some extra energy and started building the infrastructure around my workshop!
Keep up the good work!
Lots of love from Halland, Sweden!
I'm so happy to hear that Patrik! Let me know if theres anything I can do to help.
Your channel has motivated me after years of watching others. Your humility, humour and sensibility make your projects approachable. Strangely, maybe I also enjoy that a table saw isn't a requisite? Thanks Jasper!
Thanks mate, I really started with nothing. I sometimes feel back about having actually gotten tools and showing them off in videos like that, because I know what it's like to sit and watch woodworking on UA-cam without having them 😃
@@JesperMakes don’t feel bad. You are “pro” now and your time is worth it. You can always reference your “old” videos to prove that it can be done. If anything your evolution adds to the inspiration. Thanks again!
@@fevermeds Thanks 🙏
God Bledd you Mr Jesper, you are inspirational . Mary in TN in USA
Jesper! The Danish woodworker!! Greetings from Oklahoma, USA!
Hello there! Great to hear from you...
Holy moly. You chopping that chunky tree with the handaxe is such a nice metaphor for your journey. Also an inspiring one at that. Nice to hear your story man.
Thanks 🙏
That’s an awesome story. Thank you for sharing it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great story telling mate. Love your work and inspiration to others. Cheers!!
Thanks, I really can't believe I should be some kind of inspiration to anyone, but thanks anyway!!
I really enjoy your videos! I've watched all of them -- some several times! Please keep making them and making stuff! 😀

Cheers
Thank you so much 😀
Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Thanks, you too!
Facts: everyone starts some how. It's not always great until it gets great. Everyone calls that experience. Well you gained that experience by doing what's needed to be leared by others and research. Glad you made it.
Thanks 🙏
This is a great video to watch over morning coffee. Set's the day right to start off with a good story.
Hope you had a good day, and thanks for the watch
GREETINGS FROM EASTERN TENNESSEE, UNITED STATES!!
Jesper, the pallet block table was the first video of yours I watched. I subscribed and now watch every one of your videos. Hopefully one day I'll reach the point you're at.
Take care Jesper. Best to you and your family.
Howdy there! Thanks for such a wonderful comment 🙏
You seem like such a nice guy and the honesty and hard work in your videos makes you unique.
You are an inspiration to me and one day soon I want to start my own UA-cam journey.
You can do that Steve, and let me know if I can do anything for you in that regard. Cheers mate
Jesper -
I have been following you and subscribed for about 2 years.
I want you to know that you gave me inspiration to take my little “wood hobby” to another level. I enjoyed this video Sir.

I am a first-time viewer and your honesty and humility were so refreshing I just needed to finish the video and subscribe... All....keep up the good work and be certain not to outgrow yourself.
Thanks 🙏
Very interesting story Jesper. Showing again and again that success is within us. Not somewhere outside. Not in other people hands. It is in ours. Ours to make. Ours to judge. Ours to thrive and be happy soul on this earth.
Well said, couldn't agree more...
Thanks Jasper, this is so inspiring for „un-freezing“.
Un-freezing indeed, Franzita!
Thanks for sharing Jesper. What an amazing journey you’ve had!
Thanks mate 😊
Keep doing what you do Jesper!!!
That's the plan! Thanks Jim!
You are a very humble man that is a genius.
Wow thanks 🤗🤗
Jesper my friend !!! congratulations on 100K you are very inspirational and an asset to youtube👍🏻💪🏻🔥🔥
Thanks very much, so happy to hear from you!
Thanks for your words and support each one of video that you make... I'm from Brazil. I'm getting out off deppression... Many months laying down on my sofa. I got two kids, and their mom doesn't want me to see them. I tried the justice to help me, but even the justice could help. This thing took my life and way of living away.
I'm really moved by your story. It’s tough, but I’m glad to hear you're finding some solace and perhaps a bit of inspiration in woodworking and videos. Keep pushing forward, and I hope things look up soon.
On my journey to watch every single your vidios jasper!!! Dont give up!!! I have suggested your vidios to my friends!!!
You're the best!
A thousand slaps on the back. Well done! It's taken me 6 years and over 320 videos to reach 1600 subs, only 2% of which actually watch stuff. You definitely hit the right spot at the right time. I've had more fun in Tivole (spelt wrong) in the morning and then the same day cycling through Christiana the same afternoon. I think it was 2015, if I remember correctly. I take my hat of to ya!! 😀
Yeah UA-cam can be a beast, I really hope you're not giving up on it! Christiania and Tivoli - you really hit the essence of Denmark (Copenhagen at least 😂). Take care friend.
@@JesperMakes No, not giving up. I like making the vids too much. I just don't expect anything once I've posted them. I don't have negative feelings about it at all.
Love the channel. Your content might be (a bit) rough around the edges, but it feels incredibly genuine and you can see the love you put into it.
Rough around the edges? 😁 I do my best smoothing things out, but I guess a bit of edge is a good thing 🤠. Take care mate
I remember watching the video when u lost the money from the table? I thought it was brilliant my bro.. Jesper u are inspiring me everyday now. I don't comment a whole lot but I love the video of ur workbench build. It was so awe inspiring for me. I'm really new to woodworking. I have a small garage which I'm beginning to work out of now. I love ur workshop btw man. It's one awesome looking space and I love the look of the land around ur home. U have what looks like a very idilic area there.
Glad ur channel is flying high for u too bro. Keep up the brilliant and truly inspiring work Jesper my friend.. I know it's only going to grow and grow in the future.
Take care pal..
Thanks mate, and good winds to you too. Luckily the table situation resolved itself 😃
