    Would have loved to see read/write speed for the SD slot :) I'm very used to UHS-II speeds to dump tons of footage so if this is only like 20mb/s it's going to be a little sad haha. Cheap enough to pick up and work it out though so I'll see soon enough

    I just received this USB-C hub after I watched this video a few days ago. I was using an HDMI to USB-C to use my 28" 4K monitor with my M1 MacBook Air. That was working okay but I still had to use a separate USB-C hub when I needed to use a regular USB hub. Now I just have one hub that does everything and as an added bonus I also have an ethernet port if I ever need one. Thanks for the recommendation!

    Definitely very good USB-C Hub. In my opinion the ones with 2 USB-C connectors sticking out close to each other are not really useful because they can’t be used with any other devices like phones or iPads which have only one USB-C port in the middle so the hub like in this video is the most versatile

  • @nicolastalj1817
    @nicolastalj1817 3 роки тому +1

    it was charging slower since the M1 MacBook Air has a 31W charger and the hub uses 15, so you were left with 16W for the Mac. If you were using a MacBook Pro you wouldn't run with any issues since it has a 61W charger and in normal conditions it only uses 47.5W. So, if you were using an M1 pro charging would be the same

    I bricked my M1 Mac with this Anker hub. My version did not have the Ethernet port but otherwise was pretty similar. It worked fine for months then one day I heard a loud click when I plugged the Anker into my Mac, and it was toast. Apple fixed it pretty quick, in about five days, as it was still under warranty. The SSD was wiped so I had to reload everything. From now on I will never use pass through USB C power, I will only use the Apple supplied power supply. I suspect the failure would not have occurred had the Mac been drawing power from the power supply.

    Hi, you make some really great videos.
    Regarding this usb-c hub I am very happy with it, but lately I am having problems with hdmi and usb ports. In fact, the external monitor disconnects or sometimes goes black for a few seconds. How come? This hub cost me a lot :(

    I didn’t choose this hub for my MacBook Pro, because this hub has SD card slots which are useless to me, so I got one form Ugreen which has 3 USBA, 1 HDMI, 1 Ethernet port, and one USBC PD, the ports that I actually use.

    Thanks for the video! I asked about this topic a little while ago, so I’m please to see your response here. I’m a big fan of Anker gear too - Bluetooth earphones for both me and my wife, as well as chargers and mobile batteries etc. It’s just good quality, affordable stuff. Thanks for testing the speed of the T-5 through the dock. Does performance drop off if you’re also copying data off an SD card at the same time? Perhaps you might wish to copy camera footage onto an external SSD via the same dock? Thanks again, keep up the good work!
