    Keto has indeed changed my life. I am down about 112 lbs and my husband is down 85. We are off all prescription medications and are feeling fantastic. Dr. Sarah Hallberg's TED Talk is what set me on the path to researching a low-carb lifestyle. You, Dr Berry, Dr. Berg and so many others keep me going. I am currently stalled and getting frustrated because it is not coming off like it did in the beginning, but I will not stop. Thank you for giving me my life back.

    Thanks for this lecture. I tend to follow Dr Cywes although I honestly don’t believe I’m a carb addict. I ate ADA die except lived the clean your plate club so always was overeating and gaining weight. I still have items in cupboards for hypoglycemia episodes and have only consumed twice in 4 months. I’m down 40# in 3.5 months and stalled last two weeks. I consider it a body break for internal healing. Yes my shoes are too lose. I’m back into clothes I haven’t worn in about 5 years. I eat total carbs so that eliminates all keto manufactured products. This lifestyle is easy to follow and enjoyable. I just need to add more physical activity to help burn more fat from my stores. As a retired ICU RN I want to thank you for your service!!

    I was just thinking about an alcoholic . That is how I was on carbs. The minute I ate carbs I literally ate continuously until I went to bed. Never satisfied !!! Thought about food constantly. A horrible existence. Not a life. Now I have a life thanks to Keto. Slowly losing weight to boot! All labs normal but it’s how I feel mentally that sold me. No more anxiety, depression or obsessive thinking about food. Thank you for all you do👏🏻👏🏻💕

    I never thought of it as a victory, just learned how to maintain weight within 2 pounds for about 2 years! I just turned 70, so I've been on a roller coaster of diets since 1961, when I was 10 years old!! Loved this video, Cindy!!

    Fantastic talk. I put the scale away a while ago. I accept myself as is now. I also have had such an unhealthy relationship with food so I heard a lot of myself in this lecture. Tracking my food and calories also makes me crazy. Intermittent fasting with keto is magic. The longer fasts get my weight off and keto/intermittent fasting keeps it off. I also follow my circadian rhythm and do not eat past 3-4:30pm. That has made a huge difference in both my ketone and glucose level. My body rebels when I don’t give it at least 16-21 hours of rest from any consumption of anything during that period (including tea or coffee). I have been checking blood ketones and sugar regularly to find these patterns in myself.
    Keep up this side job, you are so good at it!

      Great Job Lara!! Way to listen to your body!! Dr Annette Bosworth (Dr Boz) has some great videos on fasting and getting our Dr Boz Ratio ( I call it the DBR) down under 80 for fat loss and under 40 for autophaghy (Blood glucose/ketones=DBR)

    • @LaraBisserier
      @LaraBisserier 5 років тому +1

      Ask Nurse Cindy yes I check my numbers often as well as do my Br Boz and GKI score for comparison. It doesn’t always correlate though. I feel my very best when my ketones are the highest. Fasting 16-20 hours daily keeps my ketones high. I would like to see my blood sugar go down a bit though.

  • @dfrost2949
    @dfrost2949 4 роки тому +1

    You are so funny Cindy. Good job on the talk. I was overweight 14 months ago. I started Intermittent Fasting & lost 20 lb, then plateaued. And then I increased my fasting to 36 hr, and I broke the plateau. Then I started Keto diet, & lost another 10 lb, & reached plateau again, & then I did another long fasting of 48 hrs. Then I lost another 10 lb. I lost a total of 40 lb in 8 months & keeping it off for another 3 months. Started at 25 plus BMI to 21 BMI. Staying on Keto diet eat 1 meal a day, & continue to another 5 lb. Last week I did a 72 hr fasting & lost another 5 lb, BMI down to 20. So, plateauing is only temporary...and you are right, plateauing is a good sign. That means your diet is working. But your metabolic rate needs to be reset by prolong fasting. Good luck to you all.

    I am a retired RN and loved this video and passed it on to several people. At 74, it is slow but lost 50 and put 10 on. I refuse to go back to old way. Have been drinking vodka lately due to stress and wonder if that could stall my weight loss and how long would it take to regain weight loss? One of funniest videos yet! Love your enthusiasm !

      Bridget, if you haven't watched vids by Casey Morango, you should. "Go Keto with Casey" is the name of her series. She lost almost 100 lbs, but it took three years with long plateaus. Hang in there, don't get discouraged, and watch some Casey. 💕👍

    Eat all the fat you want as long as it's in your food. I started putting cream in my coffee and my weight loss stopped dead. While I was drinking black coffee I was losing a pound of weight a week. Eating bacon and eggs, Salmon, steaks, you name it. Just don't drink it in between meals. You need the break.

      I didn't lose weight for the first 4 weeks. After that, I started losing weight.
      Maybe my body needed to get the human-invented fats (corn, vegetable, canola, and other oils) out of my body tissues. This is a wild guess unsupported by any scientific research.
      I eat animal fats, animal proteins, low-carbohydrate vegetables, spices, herbs, and salt. I drink coffee, tea, and water with stevia and full-fat cream in my coffee.
      Read the book "The Salt Fix" by Dr. James DiNicolantonio. Eating too little salt can make a person insulin resistant, which will be corrected after the person starts eating enough salt. If your doctor has told you to eat less salt, talk to your doctor about what "The Salt Fix" says.
