Dude the fact that none of them said “were in the stairs” or “dont spawn on us we’re trying to get out of the stairs” and instead just sat in awkward silence not saying anything and just TOTALLY IGNORING IT is so dystopian 💀 it drew so much more attention to its dysfunctional state and EA as a whole. It’s blatantly obvious that theyre not allowed to point out bugs even if theyre in one. So weird!
Right? Like I can understand them not being allowed to talk negative about the game when they're sponsored but not being able to even mention a big is ridiculous. I don't think I've ever played a game that didn't seem to have 1 or 2 bugs or glitches and that hardly makes it a bad game unless the bug or glitch happens all the time and a spawn error like that is annoying but not a super negative thing as long as it's rare and mentioning it should hardly be considered negative criticism
Literally, they could have just said something like…
“Sorry for the hiccup here, guys. This is a new and massive game, we’re bound to run into a bug at some point. We’re just going to redeploy and get right back to the action.”
By being candid they could have easily downplayed it as nothing. By clearly being obligated by EA to not draw attention to bugs, it turned that whole situation into such a shit show and it made it look so much worse.

I swear something extremely similar to this happened back in the Battlefront 2 fiasco. Sponsored players giving misleading info, PR workers lying to our faces, etc.
These companies have some of the most delusional and ineffective executives.
Goddamn, the more I hear about this game, the more thankful I am that I never bought it, almost did, but I could smell the heaping pile of crap that was to come. I didn't dodge a bullet, I dodged a nuke. I am continually amazed at how far this game keeps falling and burning, and it makes me smile.

There used to be a time when there was gaming "community", but now there is just gaming "industry".
Fun fact: someone by the username on UA-cam "Kaio Patrick" actually posted a video which showcased how older battlefields had far more features and details that you might not have noticed while playing, but are defintitly missing from 2042. Examples being how players moved, running animations, throwing c4 onto the ground to dig a hole into the ground as cover, shooting from the gun end instead of the sight, etc
I know! As a huge Battlefield fan I've had to hold off spending my money on the last two games. Its heartbreaking, because its literally turning into something like Madden football where they just take more and more features out as new games are released. Im sure its EA ruining another beloved franchise.

They even removed zeroing for snipers. So you could calculate the range or use a range finder, and straight ADS on your target cos your zeroing would compensate for the bullet drop. Now it’s just aim as high as you can lol. Shocking stuff.

BF2042 was doomed from the start when they HARD committed to the Specialist system, despite every single Battlefield fan saying "This isn't going to work, you're going as FAR from Battlefield's core identity as you can with that". It's the literal worst case of "Gamers don't know what they want, but our shareholders do!" I have ever seen.
It legitimately feels like the devs did the bare minimum they could out of spite towards Corporate meddling, then left the resulting dumpster fire for the PR guys to...ignore, apparently.
The end result is a massive black mark against the devs that usually put out amazing work, and EA is only gonna see this as "I guess people don't want 120v120 servers, or open vehicular combat, or team based multiplayer games!" instead of "Holy shit our shareholders know nothing about video games"
Pretty much. It reeks of corporate suits seeing the success of games like Fortnight and Apex Legends and thinking that's what Battlefield needs more of to stay relevant when the precise opposite is true. I'd say that I'm happy it failed, but I don't think any of the decision makers will be able to accept they made a mistake so they probably won't learn from it. Like you said, it's more likely they think they didn't make it Fortnight enough. But oh well, Bad Company 2 was the last Battlefield game I played so no real loss for me. I even got Battlefield 3 for free after EA's extremely poor attempt at bringing back SimCity and never played it.

I'm pretty sure most of the original devs that worked on the BF series left DiCE and started another studio (forgot the name srry) and have announced 2 games. But even so, it's like you said, it's corporate who've blasted this release into the stink pile.
Honestly, since BF3, I have pre-ordered (i know, i'm an idiot) every BF and after BFV, something made my senses tingle and was very cautious, and boy did I dodge a bullet. After playing 2042 in steam's free weekend, I came to the conclusion that it's not a BF game and also that is unoptimized dongpile.
And with that DICE will sadly join all the other studios EA killed. If not this year it will happen soon.

I love BFV for certain mechanics but BF1 captured the essence of war perfectly every multiplayer match I played felt like a real battle

"Live Service" has become a buzzword to excuse putting out an unfinished game. Name one live service in recent memory that's actually putting out consistent updates and sticking to roadmaps other than Destiny.
Supposedly Fallout 76, I haven't even purchased the game but everything I've been hearing is that it is still actively supported with regular updates. Both content and bug fixes.

The difference between Battlefield and Fallout 76 is that Bethesda had never done a multiplayer game before, definitely not one that supports so many players on such a big area, so it's almost understandable that was a trash launch. And, to their credit, they worked at fixing it and now it's a great, mostly solid game. EA have been doing Battlefield for almost 20 years and will most likely chuck 2042 in the too hard basket and start work on the next one before the end of the year.
Bethesdas engine is also very old so that also caused some issues

I'm in my mid 30s and have been gaming since I was a kid. AAA titles these days generally feel like a huge downgrade from their entries from a decade ago. We almost forget how much detail there was in those older games. First Anthem, now Battlefield. EA is on a roll.

I had a tendency to empty servers if you gave me a gunship. The TV missile was amazing with a good DPI mouse.

Tbh there was incredibly blatant false advertising for this game that tricked SO many people. I think just about the only thing people could be sure of pre-release was that Hazard Zone and Specialists were going to be bad. Portal was what a lot of the battlefield vets really wanted. Portal, for the first week, was good, but Dice killed that outright a week after launch.
Full disclosure: I bought the $90 edition and yes it was a bad move. I didn't know Dice was going to destroy Portal post-launch, and that's why I got the game.

Played Portal, realized EA butchered it quickly and stopped playing. once I realized how Call of Duty/Fortnite/Overwatch-like the base game-mode was. Hell, I uninstalled the game. Not out of shame, but because I know I'm never playing it again. If I want a Battlefield fix, I'll play either Battlefield 1 or BFV. I love the franchise, and to see how ready they were to betray us fans... that truly hurt. I dunno if I'll ever trust them- let alone wanna buy ANYTHING (including DLC) with an EA tag on it again. With Battlefield 2042 for it being the supposed big return of the Battlefield franchise it certainly deserved better than this broken and glitchy mess.

Wish there was more coverage of this because it's still happening. Naturally the number 1 player with a twitch stream gets his ban overturned but at least EA themselves admit that their anti-cheat gives false positives.

I'm 33 and I've been buying games and playing them all my life. I can honestly say this is the first time I've felt a company stole my money and lied when they sold me a broken unfinished product :/

It’s all upper management. I don’t get why more people don’t discuss the CEO of EA. At the end of the day, for the past decade, all these shady price gouging tactics, and releasing games unfinished to have a good fiscal quarter were implemented under his tenure. DICE, Respawn, BioWare etc., these are all reflective of his management style. Which needless to say, has dismantled any form of credibility with its player base and destroyed the reputation these once amazing game studios, before they signed with him (EA). If share holders were smart, they would look at his performance and get rid of him. The fact that EA doesn’t have a library of sustainable IP’s only illustrates the point. Terrible at his job even with a Harvard degree.
Nobody is jumping at EA because Activision Blizzard is the current bandwagon everybody is trying to make ad rev on. And I'm pretty sure nobody has the balls to try bringing down somebody as massive as EA let alone seek justice from.
There needs to be a bandwagon on EA started before any of these gaming journos and yters make a video on it. YTers reporting gaming news are debatably the most hypocritical and worst leeches in the news industry.
They need other people to start a stink so they can jump in. Doing actual digging and research outside of reading twitter threads and reddit threads or word for word from entire articles is an impossibility. UA-camrs are truly incapable people that exist to just leech off others' work and put their own spin on it.
Its nice to have them around to stay up to date on current events, but don't expect them to do anything more than the bare minimum. Their credibility is shallow compared to actual investigators. UA-camrs have the influence and a large enough audience to get shit going, but they are forever squandering it all.

There was an open beta for this disaster and I immediately realized it was going to get dunked on. There's really no excuse for anyone who bought this, all the warnings were there.

EA/DICE admit it was a disaster. Apologize, take game down, FIX IT or just Pull the plug on battlefield 20.42% done.
The thing that really disgusts me is the fact that the menu has a tab that let's you buy the season pass.
The game has been out for almost 3 months now, and they are in no way obligated to deliver any of the promised content. It's like going to McDonald's and paying for an item that isn't even on the menu and you just hope it turns out to be edible.
I'am still not over the fact, that they have released a game in such an unfinished state, that not even cheats are working and that the providers of said cheats bail out because it's too much of a hassle.
The most frustrating thing about this whole game is that I remember back in February or March of last year they said that the game was in a playable state and ahead of schedule. Had the impression all they had to do was polish it, months go by and you're like, this is it? And even that doesn't work.
Do yourself a favor and learn after you get burned, don't buy the next one.

The "fans" saw a fake CGI trailer and went crazy for it. The "fans" share some responsibility for continuously being duped with a minimum effort.
Nothing they showed looked good, it was just typical fake gameplay with some nods toward classic Battlefield moments. People need to realize all this footage is fake marketing and learn not to be fooled so easily.

I played battlefield from the very first ones and I mean BF 1942 with the desert combat dlc/mods. Those were the glory days. RIP old school battlefield you certainly gave me many amazing memories in my youth. Bad company 2 and bf3 also a highlight. RIP battlefield

I think we can all be pleased at remembering that EA might loose FIFA at the end of this year, and they might actually have to start earning their money.
I had some of my best memories from battlefield 3 and 4 and seeing battlefield in a slow decline from first bf1 that was still alright but then came hardline and from there it was going down really fast and now seeing bf2042 like this makes me cry and physically ill.

We've reached a place where anything dubbed triple-A is almost guaranteed to be a buggy unusable mess, that still expects you to pay top dollar not just on purchase, but also afterwards in microtransactions.
You touched on this previously, but one thing that really turned a lot of people off of this game that doesn't get talked about a lot is the fact that you can only play as "hero" characters in the game. Many people (including myself) liked the fantasy of playing as a basically anonymous soldier, working as a cog in the machine with other anonymous soldiers. It doesn't help that the voicelines from BF 2042's characters are so obnoxious.
When Battlefield 2042 is so bad the game itself stops you from playing it.

Too bad people have legally accepted the terms of an EULA in order to be able to install a product. Once they found the product is flawed, the contract prevent any class action lawsuit to reach hearing by a court. EA's Board maybe full of idiots but their lawyers are hyper smart!

Yeah... as a long time fan, it's is extremely disappointing, and heartbreaking to see a game that should've been the pinnacle of the franchise, fall so hard. Every time I hear more news about the game, it's always met with disappointment, and a heavy sigh. DICE may have a chance at salvaging this game, but at this point, it's hard to tell with the murky future ahead. But who knows. I have a single gram of hope that something can be done. But at this point, a lot of that hope has been diminished over the past several months. I do hope it can get better, but it won't be for quite a while sadly.

I never bought this game and still I've been enjoying it, simply for the chaos that comes out of it. At first I was upset because I've been a fan of the franchise since Battlefield 3, but now I'm really hoping that this will be a wake-up call for EA. Been a fan since 1942 but....I haven't bought a single Battlefield game since 3. When I saw how they were slowly introducing micro-transactions I just couldn't support it, so for me this has just been watching the slow death of a beloved IP coming to it's ultimate conclusion.
So glad I warned my bud to wait 6 months to a full year to get it. He was one of the few who had no bugs during the beta so he thought it would be fine. 😅
I experienced no bugs whatsoever during beta and pre-ordered the £110 version. Haven't played bf2042 since last year 🙃

i just don’t understand why they abandoned the foundation they built in bf1 then continued into bf5, the polish in those games was in the forefront. from rag dolls to bullet tracers to vehicle controls. outright downgrade.
At this point, we are watching not just the death of Battlefield, but DICE as a studio probably.

The thing that sucks about not being able to get in a full lobby is that there’s no campaign ether, so if nobody else is playing the game online then it’s a worthless game that you can’t even play because it’s so reliant on a big player base.
If anyone is pre-ordering EA games or even buying them on release week then there is no video that will help. So many NFT videos, so many videos like this pointing out terrible business practices. Yet NFTs are selling out left and right and these games keep releasing in worse and worse states. I think it's just us, the people who watch these videos that even care. We aren't making enough of a change. Idk what the answer is, but we need something more. We are losing the battle right now.
