    If EA had any decency they'd offer refunds for this unacceptably broken game no questions asked, but at least Steam is willing to be more flexible about it.

    Just remember, this is what they created when they scrapped the singleplayer, had an extra year of dev time, charged $10 more, had twice the man power, cut support for their other titles, and had all hands on deck to 'do what they do best'. Remember, their only job was multiplayer this time and nothing else, they had a bigger budget and more people to help for longer... They had 1 job.

He said that there was player controlled planes dogfighting above huge tank battles on the ground. He said that it had artillery units firing half way across the map. Australia and New Zealand for instance have 30 refunds on faulty products or services which, like with Warcraft, would likely apply here meaning that Steams 14 day, 2 hour limit doesn't mean anything.
    Look up your laws, cite them to steam if you feel they are applicable, and get your authorities involved if Steam pushes back and you feel the process is worth it.

The game has no campaign, no single-player elements at all, so for the player base to be so weak only a few months after the game came out is a sign that the game will not survive very long. • @RobotMasterSplash
      @RobotMasterSplash 2 роки тому +2

      Self driving cars don't need to be "perfect", just significantly less prone to accident than human drivers. Turns out that isn't actually a very high bar.

    • @oliver_twistor
      @oliver_twistor 2 роки тому +3

      It's a bad comparison. As a programmer myself I hate it when people blame programmers. We can make beautiful, very stable code if we get the resources to do it. If only non-developer executives and marketing people would leave us alone and actually trust our judgment of when our code is ready and when it needs more work, things would greatly improved. I don't work in the game industry, but I would like to think that for a programmer, working with games isn't a lot different than working with other pieces of software. There is a huge difference between working with an executive team with at least some members having programming experience and working with executive teams that do not have those experiences.
      A better comparison than games would be to look at autopilot systems in airplanes. Those are programmed by programmers too, but the testing is much more rigorous. Or for that matter, the Mars rover. Awesome technology and with software created by programmers. In those cases (and in the case of self-driving cars), the fault tolerance is near zero because of the risk of loss of life or immense cost of damages, whereas the fault tolerance of a faulty game is higher because the downsides are just partial loss of revenue and the risk of damages to the brand.
      I can assure you that if Dice and EA would employ the same level of testing and quality assurance with Battlefield as a company creating self-driving cars would be legally required to have, BF2042 would be flawless. The thing is that they don't have to, because consumers will buy the game regardless. The cost of a flawless game would be prohibitely high, as well. It's just like every other product. You wouldn't want to spend $500 on a perfect t-shirt either, because a $5 one is perfectly fine for its purpose.

Given the real clips and complaints. This should of had sales halted and refunded. At the base level if you can't play smoothly at any moment. There shouldn't be a grace period for it. When a company selling your game can log in. Prove that for a fact it's broken. While you continue to say buy it with confidence. Then you've hit the bottom of the barrel. I didn’t buy vanguard cause wanted to get BF got the gold edition for the year 1 pass and all the in game bull shit that isn’t worth it now. Game started off with minor issues but just has gotten worse and taken in the opposite direction of where it should be. I did a year in school for game design (long story not what I wanted to go for but the school lied to me and shit but like I said long story) and doing a year behind the scenes and seeing what all goes into designing and developing a video game my view on the industry changed. I usually support the game and put faith in the devs to fix the issues. I’ve talked to people who work in the industry and made personal connections and they all can say how bad the publishers like EA and Activision ride them and push the games out when they know they aren’t ready. They refuse to push back releases when its needed and think they can call a half finished game done and let the devs take all the blame for it. I usually never blame devs or talk bad about games any more. I mean look at escape from tarkov they have the dream set up. No publisher pushing them to release a full game. They have a playable beta that anyone can join into. They have a active community who spots bugs and issues for them and we are the play testers so we can give them actual good feed back in form of live streaming,forms,youtube and they can take the time to fix it release a big update with new features and small ones with minor fixes and then when they are ready give it a full release, and they are actually active in the community. No publisher over top of them pushing them to release the game in its current state they can take their time to do what they need. But EA really screwed the pooch on this one and Dice just can’t figure out how to fix it. Their best solution is to refund the people who bought it (at least digitally, physical copies are alot harder to do it with) take the loss and remove the game from stores both physically and digital. Take it back to the drawing board and do a re-release of it in a year or two when its in a better state.

I encountered a bug with the game that meant I had to completely restart the game from scratch, since I even tried reloading the save, and restarting the game. I said this to Steam, and was issued a refund. Steam's forgiving on the Refund as long as the game isn't in a good state usually. 2 hours/14 days is typically the no-question period, after that, they're on a "Why" basis, and if you give a good reason, they're usually very helpful.

    8:35 That's a lovely idea but EA is the company whose entire business model is to buy companies that make good games, ruin everything the players like about the games, and then put out transparent duplicates year after year. Forever. Madden, FIFA, Battlefield, SimCity, etc. This is all they know how to do and they'll keep doing it until it sinks their company.
    EA is a garbage company, but at this point, I don't feel bad for their customers. None of this is new information. Everybody knows EA is shit, and yet everyone acts like they didn't see it coming every month when they do some new shitty thing.
    I have no respect or sympathy for anyone dumb enough to give EA money. Anyone who bought this game should have seen this coming. I'm especially disdainful of anyone who pre-ordered. There's simply no excuse for that kind of idiocy when the company has such a long track record of screwing up, screwing over, and scamming its customers with full price rereleases of old games. If they hadn't fucked 2042 up so badly, it would just be a quickly forgotten reskin of V anyway.
    EA isn't going to learn from this because none of their executives are dying or going to jail over it. They'll probably all get bonuses. Next year they'll put out another battlefield game, and it'll be, at best, a reskin of the last three, and when they announce it, hordes of braindead morons will trample each other to throw money at EA for a game they could pick up for $5 at a used game store because it was already released eight times in the last decade. EA is garbage and their customers don't deserve pity or respect.

    I got a refund from steam for 'Islands of Nyne' outside the 14 day window (flash-in-the-pan, battle-royale-bandwagon game from years ago) . I had only played one match months earlier but I was under 2 hours played limit.
