Essentially what I'm getting from their stance on the Rush mode is that as a company they want to use it as a leverage of a "Fear of Missing Out" kind of game mode and have it as a way to garner player retention when they want. The issue is however that it's a STAPLE OF BATTLEFIELD, not some limited time mode that you pull and add at will.

Bf4's rush was an afterthought because of the conquest-centric maps, bf1's rush was the worst version of the mode yet with awful map varients (conquest suffered too, the maps, especially the DLC's, were meant for operations) and outright dumb balancing, and I couldnt even tell you if rush was even in 5, because Ive never heard of it in the game

The game (including the Battle Royale version) was made in roughly 8 months. 3 years? Yeah... I wish it took that long. Then maybe Battlefield wouldn't feel like CoD, Have no content worth a fuck, none of that Specialist crap, none of that "Anti-Toxicity" crap like no Scoreboard and no VOIP, and shitty gunplay even by Call of Duty's standard. I love Battlefield, always have since BF1942. But there is no way you can defend BF2042. EA (Upper management at DICE is also to blame for Battlefield's irreversible state) just won't back the hell off and let a franchise go on being great. They think monetizing every aspect of it will increase revenue. Funny thing is, if they stepped back a little, let their Devs have creative freedom (and not shut down most of their studios), they'd be making 10-fold of what they are now from Madden. But hey, I'm just a consumer who doesn't know better because I'm not some multimillionaire, or some head of a massive company.

This is why I refuse to pre-order, buy "deluxe editions" or buy a game in general anymore before seeing reviews and gameplay. There have been to many instances where games have promised soooo many things and fell more than short I wouldn't mind if they delayed the games even through the holiday period if it meant that the game would come out playable and full of content. Especially with the base price of games going up I think that's a basic ask. I understand that with everything in the world going on delays are more than likely going to happen so just let them happen and stop launching broken promises or early access versions of the game that take a year to fix just to get them out the door. I miss the days when games launched as a complete experience and if you were really lucky you got DLC because the game performed well. now its all about how can we make the most amount of money and milk these franchises for all they are worth instead of truly innovating and creating new masterpieces. So you kill it, rebrand as something new and voila you have a new franchise that’s greats towards skins, battle passes, and so on. You don’t think every pixel and marketing term is looked over? Sure they rush through a lot. But every aspect of a game is signed off on. Every penny spent is agonized by whole departments. Nothing about this was an error. EA wants never ending money rolling in, BF as a franchise can’t do that. They’re gonna choke this game to death pushing out the loyal fan base that’s been around for years. People need to stop being so gullible and complacent with mediocrity.
They throw money at garbage games and then wonder why everything keeps going downhill
This is why I encourage mocking and ridiculing these people
Sometimes the problem isn't necessarily the company making cheep cash grabs it's the people funding them over and over again.
If people won't learn to stop making bad purchases then they need to be shamed into not supporting these kinds of business practices.
While I'm not a battlefield fan I know the sickening feeling of watching tons of fools flock to a bad entry in your favorite game series that has all the obvious red flags of being a underdeveloped cash grab and then when you point that out to them they try and make you the bad guy.
Or even worse they agree with you and then act as if they had no idea it would be so bad as if just a little research into a purchase is too difficult for them.
It's frustrating but it shows that some people need shame in order to hopefully better themselves.

No. They heard the players. They listened. And they improved on how combos worked and kept them in the following fighting games they made. Combos are an awesome part of fighting games now and can make matches super hype. @tdsdave 2 роки тому +4

I'm not even sure what people mean by "lore" in this context. I take lore to be a deep context , a framing of the circumstances in which the game is set. There is no single player so no lore from there. BF has always in Multiplayer been a basic trope, win or lose , either personally or as a team in a well understood framework of game mechanics, it's lore generally is a paragraph, ~"you fight him because of mother insult , or just for the kicks". It's not deep, its not intrinsically funny or sad, its not having empathy for "the engineer" because the love of his life was run over by a tank, or had an unfortunate TV missile incident. You can't romanticize fighting on map "X" as lore as the tweet suggested, even if you could who cares.

9:44 this reminds me of how people got screwed over by cyberpunk. People got scammed, and it’s only gonna keep happening until people get a clue and stop pre-ordering. Make the studios deliver first before you pay them. It’s like movies: studios are encouraged to keep making good movies because good movies rake in viewers and generate revenue. We’ll get good games again when we pay for good games, not blindly *pre-paying* for crap like Battlefield 2042 and Cyberpunk.

It's as if most of DICE and EA's budget for 2042 was dedicated towards making the trailers for the game and everything else was an afterthought.
I am beginning to think that indie studios are the last hope for the gaming industry because these massive studios and their publishers are no longer producing games made to be played, but games made to sell and satisfy shareholders and investors.

The sad part is we as gamers/consumers would never know the names of the business decision makers. The ones who deem it ok to release games in this state. They get to hid behind the blanket term of "management" and not be called out, by name, for their part in the decisions. That is a bit of cowardice to me. What Andy should have done is make a response like this:
*"I just got back to work and saw all the feedback given to us during holiday break, and we are sorry for how the game released, it was out of our control to release it the way it did, so while we are indeed trying to 100% address all the complaints of the community, we do have to take a break every once in awhile to be ready to get back to work."*
If he had made this type of response instead of pointing the finger at the Battlefield community and their criticisms, it would have gone much better than how it did with his actual response. Ultimately, the main culprit for why the game came out this broken and unfinished is EA, they are the ones that Andy should be calling out, not the Battlefield community (though him calling out EA could get him fired, but still, better point the finger at them than the Battlefield community).

He can’t blame his own team, because he may be a lead supervisor dev and criticizing his team will be adding salt to his own reputation. He can’t criticize his own employees for the same reasons. He feels frustrated at the situation but has no one to blame other than the immediate problem before him - The community.
I don’t think Andy was being malicious. He my just be frustrated. Plus he isn’t a PR representative so talking to customers isn’t a strong suit of his anyway. He’s the cook, not the cashier in the front desk.

Let's get serious. DICE had YEARS to even map out what they might have wanted in a game like BF 2042. Sure, everybody got a hard time with the pandemic, but even as that goes on, there is plenty of room and space to “scope, design and execute”. As Angry Joe has infamously mentioned, “YOU DON FUCKED IT UP!” As a long time fan of this franchise, makes me very angry to see something great basically become a dead rose.

    • @SerMattzio

It's EA's whole approach too. Ever since the non-historical nonsense in BF5, it's been evident that EA is desperately (and pathetically) trying to jump on the Fortnite bandwagon with Battlefield.
This is why we have the cringey kiddie end of match voice lines and over the top character aesthetics in 2042, etc.

    • @Shirrage
      @Shirrage 2 роки тому +5

I've come to accept the fact that Battlefield, honestly, won't have a fully finished product until years after a title's initial release date. Angry Joe's quote is 100% correct in terms of every Battlefield's initial release post-BF3. I still remember seeing, and reading, how BF4 would hard crash so many times a few weeks/months post-launch and they spent so long trying to fix the game. Even now, BF4 still has glaring issues (Like crashes as you leave a match to load into the main screen; hit registering for tank shells on helis/planes; Character models still sliding across the ground in the crouched pose; defib only works at the spot where the player initially died; etc.) but it's playable now.
These devs need grow up and get a set of balls when talking with fans. "Brutal expectations," my ass; EA set these expectations, and you all should have had people that knew what they were doing with this game when you were developing it. Clearly, they wanted to release a game to shut fans up, but all they got were fans throwing their games back in their face. And they're confused, and frustrated, with how their game is getting ravaged.

Now take that anger and use it to not give EA any more money ever no matter who they buy to hold for ransom. Let them fail entirely as a company, the people who actually make good things will keep doing that but they won't be hidden in an ocean of bullshit.
Us paying EA keeps the devs EA tortures for games trapped there. It's time to stop. Find something else to do with the time you currently spend interacting with EA products.
