I have done a few of your workouts but not really seriously. However my sister's mil fell and broker her hip of course. She is not having a good outcome. I'm 63. Its past time for me to get real and get stronger. I will gladly accept a hug.
I'm doing physical therapy for a recovered ankle fracture, and this is one of the exercises they have me working on! I can do it perfectly on my good leg, but I lost so much muscle and balance on my other leg recovering from the injury! I practice this exercise every other day.
Subscribed to your channel after one of your videos on exercising your feet showed up on my feed. We are almost 70, me with broken pinkie toe and hubby with scrunched toes due to his wide feet, orthotic inserts, two times plantar fasciitis, meniscus tear, something going on in one of his his calf muscles preventing him from squatting, thick cushioned tennis shoes. Recently started researching barefoot shoes with wide toe box to see if transitioning from his bulky shoes with inserts to a better functioning shoe might help with some of his issues. Will take a while if he stays on board, but from everything I’ve read/watched, should definitely be beneficial. Always interested in balance techniques- and once my toe heals ( couple more weeks) will have to work doubly hard on that foot/leg
This might just be 2 of the exercises in recent videos, but the timer for a guided exercise with constant encouragement to explore and play is helpful!
I made the switch to zero drop and I have no more knee or back pain. I’m able to kick in martial arts and walk the next day! Woooooo! Thank you for your vids! Saved me!
Matt one of the best things you have said is letting us know it could take AT LEAST 6 months to help the back. Just knowing that, has encouraged by progress. Thank you!
I'm 70 years old and I have been very aware of my declining trajectory since age 55 and I didn't like where I was going. I just started working on the healthy hips program even though I purchased it over a year ago. Some people need carrots, others need sticks. Recently, I watched a series on centenarians on Netflix and saw a guy in his 100s who moved better than me. THAT was my carrot to finally take my health and fitness to a whole new level!
With the knee bend I notice my back is not connected to my arms when I lean on something like a chair. I had a go with a lifting action and my back seemed more connected and my balance was so much better. Eventually, I just made a touching motion with my fingers, palm up. You bring such valuable activities, Matt.
I've got nerve damage to my right leg, waist to toes. Had cauda equina 23 years ago and things have gone from bad to really bad. I turn 50 in March & my spine has been knackered since my mid 30s. I welcome new ways to help my balance
Did something happen???? Sure did....just turned 76..😂...not a bad thing...but have noticed balance is not as it once was...luckily you just popped up on google...gonna give it a try
I'm here as a TBI survivor who has had rehab for balance but i have persistent minor issues, and i certainly don't want to fail. ❤ You have an impressive grace when doing these exercises, were you in ballet?
Loving your vids regarding balance. Can I add what someone told me. As well as being relaxed and core engaged, I learnt to focus on keeping my head still and extended. It helped me big time, may help others
Thanks a bunch! I've always liked balance because I walk and trail hike a lot. I want body control, proprioception, and agility. And balance, of course 😂
I really like your channel. I have had several serious falls. Three broken bones in my foot. A fractured ankel, that I didn't even know about, after a fall just throwing out the trash. So I really need to do something to improve my balance. Love your mantra "fast is foolish". I need to learn how to do this in a safe way. Also, trying to work on the squat for better hip strength. Thank you so much for your content. 💕🌴😎
Out of all your balance videos I love the 15 min 38 second video titled 'Powerful, simple leg strength and balance exercise for any age' in which you have shared 2 very simple but challenging exercises which any one can follow along while watching that video... I have shared that video to every other person I know😊...and myself follow that regime every Monday and Thursday....!!Great work..!!
I’m 68, and have been very sedentary for the past year - I now have almost no ability to stand on just my left leg. My right leg is a not too bad. Doing these exercises with any bend in my knee (either side) creates a lot of uncomfortable grinding in my knee (even putting most of my weight on a support). Should I continue, modify or do something entirely different.
I've been doing the clock, but no burn. I checked out this video again to see if I was doing it correctly. I'm going to look for the quad/glute burns next time.
I have atypical basilar migraine and one of my symptoms is a loss of balance. I bought a bicycle and can’t ride it without falling. I’m 70 so I need to protect my old bones
I've just recently taken up Karate and one of my biggest weaknesses is my balance, especially having chronic back pain which flares up when I'm doing some of the moves. I've found that considering my left side is the weakest, it's the side I can stay balanced on better and my right seems weakest from the balance viewpoint. I'm hoping these will change that
I’ve never seen balancing done like this. I was pleasantly surprised. If you don’t use your body, you don’t move it and you sit around a lot. You will lose your balance. That’s why I’m here.
I tell everyone I know that one leg, balance exercises are what they should be doing, but aren't. 64 year old runner who's knees have never felt better! Really like Matt here, and Ben... #Kneesovertoesguy
What brought me to this video? My feet and ankles want to go wonky at will, plus, if I turn around too quickly, I go off balance. I can balance well on one foot, yoga style poses, but moving around... sometimes not good.
I know your mom or mother in law was impossible and you did your best. i walked with my Dad my hero who had Alzheimer's wherever he wanted to go. I loved/love him. Just .. go away.
My whole life I put on my underwear standing up … one leg at a time. Now that is iffy at best … hence I am here. I guess it is a true sign I am getting old. I am now 74. P.S. part of the issue is pulling my leg and foot up enough to go into the waist band.
After some testing, they told me that my balance is bad. I always veer to the right side. 😅 Since my endometriosis has gotten bad, a lot of my muscles are struggling.
What brought you to this video? Why is balance important to you? Drop me a comment!

Recovery from a concussion and looking for simple ways to practice and regain my balance. Thank you for such a great video.

Stroke rehab. Stroke has had an effect on my balance. Thanks for this.
You're welcome and keep on keepin' on! 💪
Man, I love these videos. Just signed up for the Asian Squat program, which I've been working on for a couple of months. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for signing up! :)

Kirsty do you also include healthy fats in your diet? Butter, ghee, tallow - little to no carbs? It’s been so helpful for me.

Same minus the hiking hehe. Would love to hike but just don't have the time. Most trails "near" me are not near at all xd
Lol, I do need a hug, but YT notifications brought me here. 😂

Matt is it helpful to contract your butt when balancing besides what it already is doing when balancing? My left side is much weaker.
Could def. be helpful to teach it turn on more!

What to do when balancing and bending my left leg and the hamstrings hurt and cause the leg to shake? Weak hamstrings?
Keep at it! The shaking is a sign 🪧 of weakness in the muscle.
I clicked on a survey and here i am!
I find it much easier to balance standing on my left leg than on my right. is such a preference normal?
Yes! That’s why Matt suggests on the weaker side doing an extra set of any given exercise. Not sure about this one tho. These can be intense!
Bent over and pulled my back and had pain for several weeks. I ended up with left leg shorter then right with a limp
