This song is about how when we are young the time ahead of us seems endless. Then as we grow older, where did it go? "The time is gone, the song is over - thought I'd something more to say. This whole album is a Masterpiece.
The funny thing is that a lot of us have considered this question from both ends of the spectrum. I used to listen to this music in high school, and I never could have imagined the kind of person that I would have ended up being today. I wish I could talk to that kid, because things aren't so bad.
@@benjamininkorea7016 The older you get the more meaning this song has.
Greatest iv heard 👍
"And then one day you find ten years have got behind you, No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun."
That was the line that helped me to get off my butt and go back to college to finish my degree (in my case however, more than 30 years had got behind me). I landed a better paying job which allowed me to work from home during COVID-19.
Thank you Pink Floyd!
One of the greatest lines in rock history! Brilliant and poetic.
Just over 40 years for me... And still inspires😉
GOOD FOR YOU MAN. I GRADGUATED HIGH SCHOOL IN 1971 AND STILL WAITING FOR THE WORDS TO SINK IN.
🔥🔥🔥
Dude, this album "The Dark Side of the Moon" (with the Prism artwork) is an audio masterpiece.
Each track transitions directly into the next and themes follow.
If you really want to experience Pink Floyd do this album in 2 hits (side 1 / side 2) audio only but have the lyrics to hand
Take it from an "old guy" there's a reason why it charted for over 18 YEARS!
Maybe the greatest album ever made.. it just means so much to so many. Please please listen to Dark side of the moon in its entirety with no pauses . The way it was made to be played . It’s perfection.. Trust me
I agree with all the comments down here - those incredible voices you were hearing in the background were from their 3 backup singers - unbelievable sound when put together. If you listen to Great Gig in the Sky you'll be amazed at just how powerful and beautiful her voice is. On the Turning Away also features the back up singers' talent.
If you like the woman singing check out Great Gig In The Sky ! You’ll melt
@Garcia Dann - You're absolutely right that it will give him the same feeling that this small sample did, although it's not the same woman. Clare Torry was only on Great Gig. It's a very common misconception that she was the rest of the album.
Yes he has to do that song for sure!
Has to be the one from the album.
It's a chill album, he did say the song is over. The next part that you heard is actually a reprise of an earlier song on the album called Breathe...that's just how chill the album is, taking you from one song to the next so smoothly you can actually miss the transition 🎵
GOATS.
Time is such a unique and perfect song.
Thanks for the reaction!
Pompeii next
Yes
You should listen to the entire album (Dark Side of the Moon). Pink Floyd are brilliant.
I'm 46yrs old and heard this song for first time at 19. Thought it was a cool song. Then heard it again a year ago and listened to the words closer. I cried.
You have your hand on the opposite side of your heart!
He did say "The Song is Over", as the next part of the song is a reprise of a previous track called Breathe (in the air).
FIFTY YEARS of people chilling.......best rock band ever; Led Zep and Pink Floyd top the list......their music is as listened to today as it was in the late Sixties.
Clare Torres is the brilliant female vocalist I think. I know she did the stunning Great Gig in the Sky, all ad lib. Just amazing!!
One of my first stoner albums. 😊👍
It's a prism, you're right :) Also, keep in mind that this is a British band, so some of the messages in their songs may not hit too close to home. Example like The Wall. It has a lot of social and political messages Brits would understand better: like how they pushed down free-thinking children and would break them down to force them into the grind of the working class (Bricks in the Wall). Our own schools in the U.S. have been set up, for the most part, for training the assembly line mentality. Desk in rows with assigned seats like in a textiles manufacturing plant, and whatnot.
Aussies get it!!
You are so right. I'm 57, but I remember back in school it felt like they would break you down, try to 'erase' your creativity and brainwash you into conformity. I experienced that at my job, I used to think up ideas on how to do our jobs better and more efficiently but nobody would ever get it. So I gave up and don't bother anymore. Can't wait to retire!
This album was on the top 100 for well over 600 weeks. All time high for any album. The best way to appreciate this album is to play the HOLE ALBUM AT ONCE. There isn't a person on the planet that enjoys pink floyd that would disagree. Pink FLoyd is one of the top all time bands of rock and roll. To many great songs to list. Large rabbit hole
"I feel like this is just a song I could chill to" said everone ever.
On the Top Billboard from 1973 til 1988...And made it back on, afterwards 💯🌈 MEDDLE is another MASTERPIECE...What a Rabbit hole..
Check out the LIVE version of Time at the Pulse Concert (1994). It is definitely worth watching.
He does say "the song is over". It's a metaphor for the end of your life. This song leads into The Great Gig in The Sky, with that symbolism carried forward.
Keep doing what you're doing. Love it!
Pink Floyd is perfect for chilling! Also very compatible with a variety of altered states of mind :)
Another two of their songs i'd recommend are "Welcome to the machine" and "The great gig in the sky".
The best way to hear Pink Floyd is to put the album on in its entirety and in order, slip on the headphones or a great stereo, maybe have your favourite beverage handy, lower the lights and enjoy the experience..🍺😎
That album is a trip indeed. OMG, I remember friends got together just to enjoy the whole album. We put a lil in the air and drank while zoning to the Pink Floyd. It's classy and a wonderful way to go. Also, a wonderful album to enjoy on a date. Trust me & cheers!
David Gilmour is an absolute virtuoso on the guitar. I am kind of jealous I wish I could hear Floyd again for the first time.
You must listen to the Entire LP. It's like reading a book, it's a journey 😉🎶🎵🎶
For more Pink Floyd: Money, Us and Them, Another Brick in the Wall, Mother, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Pigs.
You should listen to this again with the lyrics handy.
want to hear the back ground vocalist shine listen to:
"THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY"❤
“It’s a really chill song”
Yeah, dark side of the moon is designed to be listened to with a joint or two
The woman singing is more of a feature in "Great Gig In The Sky". Check it out if you haven't. It's one of their best songs.
Great Gig in the Sky
The reaction you had to the background singer made me subscribe haha
😂😂😂🔥
Officialcammm, I surely hope you listened to "Great Gig in the Sky" after "Time" because it flows naturally and magnificently out of "Time." It's been nearly 50 years ago and I **still** get goosebumps. Thank you for your feedback. :-)
The band's name is a combination of two black American bluesmen Pink Anderson and Floyd Council
If you like this song, you should listen to the whole CD. It's incredible.
I am happy that all these youngsters are finding Floyd....but I feel sorry that they will never experience the speaker. The worst grounding I got when I was a kid was getting caught by the 'rents using the good stereo and moving the huge speakers. I put the whole album on put a pillow between the speakers and let it rip....I was sooo into it that I didn't hear the 'rents return from bingo and got caught. Even when headphones became a thing and I was out of the nest, I still had a habit of rearranging the speakers, lying on the floor with my head between them and letting it rip.
Enjoy the Pink Floyd experience....(cos that is what it is).
Buy really good HiFi headphones and then listen to Pink Floyd albums through these headphones and with real stereo equipment, that's actually a must for this band and an unforgettable sound experience ... and forget about listening to their songs only via UA-cam videos, otherwise you miss 50% of the high level recording and mixing quality.
Its the gospel element in that part you like
the start is the start of life, the music progression through life. The tolling of the iron bells the christian funeral right. The song is the progression through life.
If you like that part, you must listen to the next song on the album... Great Gig in the Sky!! The studio version.... I see you did the live version... It will change your life!!
Check out comfortably numb live from pulse
Some deep Floyd, check out "Welcome to the Machine "
Not you've scratched the surface, time to dig a little deeper. Just pick anything from the Pulse Live concert 1994.
Loving going through your reaction videos. Please do Ylvis, "old Friends." I have no idea why no reactors do them. They're so great. And I want more people to experience them
Check out Johnny winter .... Hustled Down In Texas
The album is meant to be listened to altogether. The songs are out of context otherwise. Listen to the Pulse versions after hearing the album versions. Also, the entire album is an almost perfect match alongside the movie The Wizard of Oz. It would be awesome if you reacted to that too, after hearing the album.
Seriously, there's so much of Floyd to explore. Who has time to do all that peripheral wizard of Oz stuff? I bet he never even heard of the movie. Waste of time.
Pink Floyd live in concert is amazing, including extended solos and laser light shows! I suggest checking out Pink Floyd, 'Comfortably Numb', from the Pulse concert in 1994.
Check out The Path by Dodz on youtube. Phat tune. Deserves some props.
You should probably listen/read to the lyrics after you react. They're pretty relatable
Dave Gilmore is one of the best guitarists on the planet. You should check out more…

Those aren’t bongos. I believe they are rototoms.
Terrified? No need my friend.🙂
Stop talking and listen ( if you want a like )
Jawohl, mein Führer.
Get him up against the wall.
@@nagaslrac lol
Wait?
You are the one I said was nobody's fool on the political talk and BLM, I think it was?
Now you are reacting to Pink Floyd?!
Yeah so I was at the Pulse Concert at Earls Court in London.
So when you hear more and realise you number one recommendation is to listen to the live version of Comfortably Numb and possibly the greatest guitar solo of all time?
Yeah, I was there. Lol.
It you have just started you are gonna have a great time with this. Enjoy it.
