I have considered useful to review the topic how to approach corners on door panels. Sometimes, some of our students are confused on how to wrap the corners. As we can see in the video I have shown how to cut and fold square corners, one pointed corner and rounded concave and convex corners.
We clearly see that one of the keys is to first give shape and glue down all around the cardboard piece edge. Then comes the gluing of the folds all around over the cardboard reverse edge.
These techniques also work out for leather material or fabric.
I hope you find this video useful!

The total lack of unnecessary talking, intro, outro and background music, just leaving white noise and sounds of precise, slowly performed craftsmanship is an absolute delight to watch. A bit hypnotising, haha. Wonderful. I don't even do projects like this. Maybe one day when there is time.
I mostly agree this is way better than all the unnecessary fluff. However, I do think a few words here there could make it a little bit better. Even if it was just some text on the screen. Like naming the type of pliers used. Brand/type of glue needed. Spacing between cuts for curves etc. Just coming from someone who is about to cover some inserts for my boss and have never done this before. I could do a little research so no big deal but other than that i'm so glad I was able to see the technique. That's what I needed the most. So helpful!
Exactly!!!
Thank you…no wonder my panels never looked as nice as yours..
People just don't get it today...
Less IS most often MORE.
Sir, I don’t comment on many videos but I felt compelled to do so here. You are an absolutely astonishing craftsman. Watching you work with leather is awe inspiring. You have completely mastered your craft. Great job and thank you for your wonderful videos.
If you're wondering, they are called Dental Howe Pliers. Took me a while to find it.They work great for that tiny tip grip.
Thank you for adding your comment. I noticed the plier tool he used, thought it might be an upholstery tool. Never occurred to me that it was a dental tool.

Honestly, not sure how many videos I've watched but, I just start making stuff I dream up. Hardly any planning Other than what I feel the leather wants to be. I'm making a box and have 0 corner wrapping experience . No words but I was able to answer every question I had with this video. Thank you so very much.
Been watching your videos for 4 years. I still come back to videos I watched (like this one) and learn new stuff I forgot all the time.
I admire your work, and your videos.
Keep up the great work boss!
another masterclass in quality and professionalism. not only is this invaluable for us amateur DIYers but a lot of people calling themselves professional upholsterers could do with a few lessons under the guidance of cechaflo.
I'm glad you didn't include audible commentary in the video. I had to concentrate on what you did with the tools and with the material. I'm buying a truck that needs some interior work, and I worked interior restoration before I retired fifteen years ago. Thanks for the refresher course!
Beautiful! This is a man who takes pride in his work.
Perfectly chosen project. Inside and outside 90 degree corners, inside and outside radius, a pointed edge and a radius 90 corner. 👍❤️
Outstanding demonstration! Thank you again for everything you do!
You have the best ideas and methods for just about everything involved with upholstery. You can be very proud as your videos will live for hundreds of years my friend! Thanks so much for sharing.
I'm reupholstering my car and my boat. Your videos are gold! Thank you!! You are my mentor.
Thank you so much! I was just replacing audio speaker cloth and used these techniques on outside corners, and it worked absolutely perfectly.
I always come away from your videos feeling like I’ve sat with one of the Great artists of the upolhstery world. Thanks 😊
Thank you Cechaflo! I tell people about your great videos all the time. One of the first I watched showed how to cover a gearshift knob in leather. I tried it and it turned out surprising nice and was fun to do. So I did the steering wheel after watching you do that job too. Now I'm installing headliners, sewing seat covers and fixing up tired upholstery all the time. I even look to buy cars with shabby upholstery because I can get a good deal AND fix it myself. Unlike the mechanical stuff my hands never get dirty and I can usually work on stuff inside the house in the HVAC. 😉

This is just a great video. I am redoing the interior panels on my Morgan and this is exactly what I needed. A perfect step by step tutorial by a professional. Thank you very much.

thanks for the video well done you make it look so easy!!!!
Nice work!
But you could also use a heat gun for that corners too!
Very nice learning experience, thank you.
Maravilloso trabajo.
Muchas gracias por compartir tus conocimientos.
Bendiciones y muchos éxitos.
Thank you Cesar for a great and very helpful video. I noticed that you did not use any adhesive on the front of the panel. Would you suggest doing so on larger ones? I have a couple of panels of similar size to the one you used in this video but I also have four that are close to three or four times the size. Thanks again, Ian.
If you have larger panels I would suggest the same method for plain panels. It is not necessary to glue the whole top panel. I would suggest to cover this area with a thin foam 3, 5 mm; 1/4" thick
Really well explained!
your good upholstery work I like 👍 because I am also sofamaker upholsterer
You are an inspiration in all of your work. A good craftsman don't need words to explain, you let your hands talk! Is it mark chalk you are using to to create those White help line? If so, it seams like you are making trouble for yourself by disturbing the grip of the glue?
amazing video thank you very much

Аккуратно и познавательно. Спасибо!
For those of us new to the idea of using professional-grade cement like the VL-2000 (and not having access to this product in the US) what is a reasonable substitute? Barge? Master? I *always* want to ask this question while watching almost every video you produce. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
A substitute could be:
www.ebay.com/itm/114649877783 (brushable glue)
www.ebay.com/itm/254593470049 (brushable and sprayable)
The Weldwood contact landau it's a excellent choice is resistance to high heat use for years on car tops, use it in my shop, most trusted by upholsters in the US.
Foi muito esclarecedor a técnica. Parabéns.
Mighty fine job!!

What is the board that you are using and how may I find some. I really enjoyed this video and look forward to watching more. Thank you.
This board is used for insoles in the shoemaking industry. if planning of doing door panels I would recommend ABS special plastic hardboard material or this other waterproof board Greg shows in his video:ua-cam.com/video/sYXnNzB4pxw/v-deo.html

Outstanding 🙌🏼🙌🏼
sir nice work, may i ask what type of adhesive is best to use ? thanks
I do not know which adhesive is the best. I am located in Mexico and trademarks are different in each country. But, most of these solvent based yellow glues are similar everywhere.

Thank you so much Cesar. Where do you get your supplies? Specifically, the backer board and the vinyl.
I am located in Mexico and I get my stuff from local suppliers. Vinyl from a local upholstery store and cardboard from a shoemaking store. Shoemakers use this cardboard for some kinds of shoes. I only have used it for the demonstration.
I suppose you are in the USA. I have realized about an upholstery supplier:
www.albrightssupply.com/automotive-vinyls
If you are thinking in door panels I would recommend you to get a water-proof cardboard or ABS hardboard plastic.

@@Cechaflo THANK YOU !!!!
What is that material your using? Looks like leather but I’m not sure, new to these things
It is vinyl material. Vinyl has a synthetic coat of poliurethane covered with black paint. It has a white fabric on the reverse side. This cloth stretches breadthwise.
This video shows a leather material:
ua-cam.com/video/lRb1CJeSLyE/v-deo.html
would you mind sharing the type of two-sided tape you are using?
Perhaps you are referring to the yellow glue pasted on both edges cardboard and reverse side of the vinyl.
ua-cam.com/video/o2xeezdF8Ss/v-deo.html
PLUS he trims the edges on the back of the panel. That's why it's called a skilled trade.
excellent
Could you tell me what sort of material you are using in this video? I have a boat dash to cover but I need a stretchy fabric.
For this sample/training I have used automotive 2 way stretch vinyl. The vinyl stretches breadthwise.
Perhaps it would be much better for your project a 4 way stretch vinyl. Besides a marine vinyl.

It could be handles it in different directions.
Thanks for your help😊
Belo trabalho.
If I like, instead of leather, I could use Naugahyde? That glue looks like Contact Cement, yes?
Yes, you could use any synthetic material. I am using vinyl material in this educational video.
