STRAIGHT INSIDE-HIDDEN STITCH(BLIND STITCH) FOAMED CHANNELS/PLEATS
As in former related tutorial' to do these designs, three layers of (vinyl/leather, foam and a backing cloth, are also fastened by sewing them together. The difference is that the 'sewing' is done on the reverse or wrong side of vinyl/leather/ or fabric materials.
There are three well known methods to perform these designs :
1. Standard way to do the channels : To do this procedure, the material on top (vinyl/leather) should be folded and sewn to the foam and backing cloth every time we do a channel.
2. Square foamed channels : the foam is cut in long rectangular 'sliced pieces' : The material on top is folded and sewn directly to the backing cloth...the already cut rectangular foam pieces are put in, every time we do a channel. The channels have a nice square
3. Reinforced inside-hidden stitch : Sewing on top first, then re-sew them on the reverse where the 'backing cloth' goes. The sewing for these channels are stronger and obvious, more durable.
I want to notice that these foamed designs are labour-intensive jobs, and more expensive than on-top stitches foamed designs.
I hope you find the video useful!

Very nice! My dad was a life long auto upholsterer & worked at Fords design center in Dearborn.
The way I learned tuck & roll in the sixties, was sewing together individual strips of the material ( Naugahyde usually) & then glueing strips of foam in the channels with a scrim back added. Very time consuming. But I've not seen a single you tuber doing it that way?
Thank you.

Hello, these 'back sewn pleats' are used on some designs of furniture, hot rods and vintage cars. As the stitches are 'hidden' they are not directly exposed to sunrays.

I can't wait to try this with leather!
Shane Richardson These foamed channels would look nicer in leather! ...don't forget a good density 1/2" foam is one of the keys to get nice pleats.
Nice way.. magnificent job Sir.. i Will do that in my work. I'm upholsterer here in saudi. I like the way of allowances.. and the machine you use on it. Thanks for the video Sir..
Brian Aragon Thanks for kind remarks ! ...I have started a series of upholstery basics on youtube...very important foundations to understand 'real size upholstery projects' I'd post in my website in a near future.
Gracias
Thank you so much!
very intersting perfect as usual
Sir, what sewing machine would you recommend? after watching many of your videos I am going to attempt to re-upholster my car.

WEB TV BRAZIL Translation: Thanks Sr. I do not know sewing, but with your videos was very easy. I myself, am going to redo the seats of my old car. hehehe
Reply: You are welcome! ...I'm happy that my videos are useful!
Where are y live? I live in the Brazil.
you dont speack in your videos. why ?
WEB TV BRAZIL I live in Mexico. I only use English subtitles, because the explanation is simpler and I do not confuse the student talking too much. In fact, most of these videos do not need much words...I use a 'visual method' that means 'watch carefully, understand and learn'

Even without understanding English, his teaching made me understand perfectly
It is not necessary to understand a language to learn upholstery. Just by watching is enough.

The teacher makes the diference!!!
Saludos
