  • Check out the Dewalt 5" Sander. It's official name is the 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 5 in. Random Orbit Sander. This is the tool only and I also recommend the 3Ah 20V Dewalt Battery to power the sander. Here's some links to The Home Depot that have the specs, pricing, and reviews. Speaking of reviews, they're very impressive on this tool. Most people say it's very powerful and awesome to have no cord that gets in the way.

    Hi,
Just wanted to give you my opinion. I purchased this dewalt palm sander a couple of weeks ago at Lowe's on a special buy. Purchase the tool and get a free charger and the new 3.0ah compact battery. It was deal and i couldn't pass it up.
This palm sander is great and well worth it. I still have my dewalt corded when i have to sand a lot indoors. Man, this cordless palm sander help me alot. Especially when i don't have to pull out the cord. The new 3.0ah battery works great and comfortable with this unit. Worth buying it.
    Thanks for the video

Mine just started spinning constantly but didn't do the random orbital motion!
The center cap where the belt goes round has a weight in there that a screw goes through that supposed to make it do this. But I've gone through 2 further belts now which is annoying and I think it's something to do with this inside. Should it have grease in there to make it spin? Because mine seems stiff and stuck! When I screw the weight off it seems great but just spins obviously. Any suggestion to stop it bursting belts would be great.
    Many thanks
    Ian.

I like your videos and I have to help my fellow mid Michiganders any way I can so I subscribed and hit the bell, I'm in Arenac County so any Home Depot, Lowes or Menards I go to is a drive, I hate the HD in West Branch, Hate driving through Midland, Bay City is a good store but small they have maybe half the tools the store on Bay Rd, (M-84) in Saginaw has, I find that store has most everything I need in stock.

Hi Mark...thanks 4 great videos that always help me with my tool purchases. I go with Dewalt 20v cordless brushless in almost all cases. Speaking of cases. As much as I love Dewalt products, my pet peeve with them: why don’t they have better cases for their high end tools. My 3 latest purchases: grinder, orbital sander (same as n this video) and the jigsaw all came sans a hard box. Space is a huge issue 4 me; I live n a tiny home. Do u have any suggestions for a hard case(s) for my latest dewalt cordless tools? Thanks and keep up the great work😀

I'll have to think about that a bit and let you know. My favorite drill case is by Makita. It has a hidden compartment for drill bit storage.

Cordless is always the way to go, I consider, Mark. I own this model (altho' in the UK & Republic of Ireland, it is classified as a DW210-XJ) - the 'B' model has the battery mounted perpendicular to the vertices of the body, whereas the 'XJ' is mounted in line to that self same vertical; your version may be a US configuration - either way, it's an extremely efficient sander - & the bonus being, replaceable hook & loop pads. Nice, brief review, thank you :)

Harbor Freight's Bauer brand has one for $50.00. Can work with 12v power cord or a battery. I have mine on a 3.0 ah battery that only costs $40. On a full charge, it can inflate the tires of 2 Ford Econoline vans to their recommended pressures (front: 60 psi, rear: 80 psi). And when the battery dies, plug it into the 12v port. It also has high volume output for inflating air mattresses, pool toys, etc., and can also act as a dust blower for your workbench.

Here it is 4 years later and I just bought this sander last night. It came with the sander, charger, 4amp battery, and the bag for $129 at Lowes. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet so watched your video. Gotta say I laughed when that sander started itself and the look is n your face hahaha. It's hard to give a definitive answer without seeing it. I'm guessing it's just a thin layer of glue? I've seen the Diablo Sandnet discs that might work well in this sander. I've seen them demonstrated by Diablo at a Home Depot event and they impressed me. I will probably buy some the next time I'm out shopping. It it were me, I'd use a pressure washer first and then try sanding later, if needed. I'd recommend a medium or fine grit sandpaper.
