Dewalt Cordless Sander Review - Worth the $$$?

- I hate cables, and I like Dewalt, so I decided to invest in their orbital cordless sander (Model
DeWalt DCW210N-XJ 18v to be precise). I've been using a cheap bosch palm sander for the last 5 years (it's still going strong!) and wanted to see how these 2 sanders at the opposite ends of the price range compared to one another. So how does a cordless sander match up to a palm sander 6 times its price and is it worth the hefty price tag?

I got the cordless drill, circular saw, radio (gotta have the radio)and sander now and I love them. Bought 2 extra batteries over time (3 5amp and 1 smaller one I believe a 3amp)
And you're right. After using any of these cordless machines it's a realisation of why have I never thought of this before.
One thing about your test tho... You're comparing apples and oranges there. An eccentric sander (the new one) will strip off paint much quicker no matter what in comparison to the square palm sander. Just saying... Not really fair on the old Bosch there :-)

Great video. I noticed the battery in the US version goes on sideways and looks more ergonomic. Does the battery position ever bother you?
Nah never bothered me. Its probably better sideways though
Dude the 1.5ah battery will not run that sander to its optimum performance
Pop a 4ah battery in and you will be blown away !!
Reason I know this is because I also have 3 1.5 ah batteries and 5 4.0ah batteries and it’s night and day

Hi Robert, interesting to hear, for me its more than powerful enough running it with the 1.5ah. I though the amps just refers to how long it lasts for, all the batteries run at 18v so should the power be the same regardless of the amp? The 4-5amp batteries are expensive and bulky too which i dont really like.

You are right to an extent it does mean 4 amps lasts longer but there is 100% power difference il send you a video if I can.
I thought the same as you my drill used to struggle drilling 5inch into oak on the last inch

Both batteries fully charged its fierce with the 5.0ah it’s quite comftable with the 4.0ah battery
I use mesh pads 80g mainly and they are also excellent at removing surface so I’m going to use the 1.5ah battery with that...
The 18v router is absolutely awesome
How long does the DeWalt last with the 1.5 amp
Hard to say really because Ive only used it for small jobs so far. the 1.5amp is more than enough for what i need such as sanding the odd wooden panel/box or plywood parts.
