I have to agree with you. I got one of these three weeks ago and have used it on two big projects already with excellent results. The battery life with the 5AH batteries is outstanding too. The next huge thing is refinishing about 1600 sq ft of oak flooring, and the DeWalt is going to do all of the sanding near the walls that the big sander can’t do. DeWalt built another great tool.
I like it I sanded my whole house with it (weatherboards not painted in 20 years), now I know why the dust bag didn't get all the dust. best sander ever.
Dewalt nailed it great unit very durable after a years hard use.. More better with smaller cells for balance.. Dust extraction is just adequate.. Much improved with extractor then no iussue.. Very linear power output right to the end of the battery.. I only use the lowest setting for 90 % of my jobs..
I have the Milwaukee cordless but use the DeWalt while at work and I find that the DeWalt fits better in the hand and has better control on start up. And it's taken a lot of abuse and is still going strong
i had the corded for so many years and and say I've used it a few time but when i got the cordless I use it all the time great info and that room looks real nice like can't wait for tour of it
Mine got left under an overflowing gutter during heavy storm, Equivalent to hosing it on high pressure for over an hour. Hit it with the leafblower for a while then left it to dry for a day and still going strong 6 months later. oh and a 6ah battery was attached which also survived!
Being in the world of drywall, i don't use orbital hand sanders. It's either a pole sander, slight hand sanding, or electric drywall sander for mass footage. That little thing must've taken you a whole day to sand the studio. 🤣 Poor guy. Thanks TRZ and God bless!😁👍
Haha, it deltoid a while, but I had two damn pole sander attachment break on me as the deeps only sells the cheap crap units. The battery powered is to much for my pocket book, and was to lazy to hand sand....stopped after 20 minutes lol

Just got this tool, what I noticed first is how hard it is to put in and remove the battery on this thing. I have 7 batteries and 10 Dewalt tools, the batteries all go in and out extremely smoothly....Is this common on your sander as well?
Yes its hard becaue it vibrates and you dont want any slop. As it gets dust in the gaps and then wears the case of the sander.. Remember at least some of the dust will be abrasive from your pads.. Over time you get galling... Not to mention rattle and thats annoying.. The sander is noisy already..

I was using this brand new sander with a brand new 5ah 20V Max XR Dewalt brand battery and it took a few hours of sanding to drain the battery. Then I tried to take the battery off to recharge it and the battery was stuck to the sander. After repeatedly pressing the battery release latch and pulling, the battery finally came off. I saw that the battery release mechanism had been chewed up, maybe from vibration of the sander? So I used a brand new 2ah battery for about 20 minutes and when I removed the battery, it had the beginnings of the same deformity of the previous battery's release latch. I was using the sander on pieces of walnut with 60 grit sandpaper on the number 7 setting. Have you experienced this type of issue? I don't know why it's wearing on the battery latches so fast/at all. Batteries were firmly locked into place before using the sander.
It would have nice if you would of put some 60grit or 80grit sandpaper on it and see if it can sand without bogging down and running through the battery quickly.
Just got one of these a few weeks back and it's been great. One thing I'd recommend is getting a foam pad attachment (ie. a piece of foam that goes between the main backing plate and your sandpaper) to make it more comfortable, easier to control, as well as saving wear and tear on the backing plate. Much easier and cheaper to replace a 10 dollar piece of foam once in a blue moon. Also, great looking 800 half stack! What year is it? Cheers
Man, I can’t decide between the Dewalt or Milwaukee. Im on all three battery systems but only have two 3.0 Dewalt batteries (should be enough for what I do). Only reason I’m not liking the Milwaukee is because it’s not brushless.
Hi there. Does anyone have experience using this cordless sander or other Dewalt tool with RIDGID or Milwaukee batteries through the adapter. What are your impressions? Are the adapters reliable in operation?
I have the corded version before this came out. Dust bag is the same. Cordless version is significantly quieter. It's a little bulky because of the pack, but I turn it sideways and the grip feels better. As in the battery pack is to the left instead of right, holding top (right handed). Finger won't access speed dial in that position. Not an issue. Just wish Dewalt would come out with an affordable BL vac i could hook it up to. Like updating that old 18v/20v to perform better. Bag isn't perfect. Beats having a weirdly shaped plastic box behind it. It's worth the money on sale.
I bought one of these on Amazon and the pad doesn't spin at all, it only vibrates. I thought it was defective so I bought another one, but that one does the same thing. What are the odds I would get two defective units in a row? Am I missing something?
One of my favorite tools as well! For my hands the handle is a little large, but it is a pleasure to use anyway. Dewalt is a little scarce with information regarding dust extraction: i wonder if this adapter also fits my dwe576 circular saw🤷🏻♀️without duct tape it will throw the dust out on an opening on the side which will probably be covered by the correct adapter.
