This is the original chorus of "Dans la vallée de Dana" from Manau, which you reacted at previously.
Ah nolwenn, beaucoup de belles chansons, bon choix!
- cassé
- Juste pour me souvenir

tri Martolod is a traditional Breton song that is danced like an An dro or like the Gavotte de Lannilis which was originally sung by Alann Stivell singer of Breton music or Fest Noz (night party in Breton)
Brittany is a region of France located in the west of the country, where we have a culture, a gastronomy, a language, different costumes, and above all a music specific to our region.Nolwenn Leroy towards the end of the song sings in her native language, she was born in Brittany!
Thank you Dereck 👍🏻
Le Breton, are not French. They are Britannique. ❤ 🇬🇧

Hello *Dereck,*
The good thing about this reaction, in particular, is that we, French people, don't understand anything she sings about.
So, we're almost on par with you. 😊
In any case, it's a magnificent musical production, and Nolwenn's voice is particularly suited to this type of folk song.
Thanks to whoever submitted this title.
Peace, people. ☮🤗
Some guys, here, understand what she's singing 😊
Breizh atao
Definitely a great voice. She got such a huge success with this album dedicated to Britanny
"dedicated"?? But she's one of us, she's from Saint Renan...
@@galadinthedark9862 ?
Original traditional song from Britanny France, talking about life of 3 sailors. Alan Stivell popularize it in 1971 ans was a great success like this one. The original is better but it's fine with it. Nolwenn is a good singer, fresh and honest with a warm and powerful voice. Good choice :)
Great choice !
This song is in Breton language from France (one of the Celtic languages ), very beautiful language, same thing for the song, it talks about 3 sailors sailing through the Breton Islands.
Great reaction 👍
Well, it's a good song. But the duet she made with Alan Stivel is a masterpiece! I'm happy that you enjoy our traditional Celtic music. Proud to be Breton. Trugarez!
C clair vive la Bretagne
What a pleasure, thank you Dereck !
If you want to dig further on Nolwenn songs, I would recommand :
- "Juste pour me souvenir"
- "Renter en Bretagne" (same Album, making me cry each time)
- "Nolwenn ohwo" (Music from Laurent Voulzy)
- "Cassé" her first hit on her first album but on this one I prefer very much "Une femme cachée" (the live version is amazing).
It's funny at the same time I write these words Nolwenn Leroy is singing on TV in front of me 😁France have the chance to have a few regional languages in addition of french
This is one of them in the west of France in Britain, Bretagne in french, typically in the departement of Finistère (the part of France the more in the west)
Wild wild west !!!!! Yes indeed ! ua-cam.com/video/_zXKtfKnfT8/v-deo.html
Bretagne is more like Britanny in English.
Not just in Finistère but in Morbihan too
Nolwenn is very very popular in France.
The french public have voted for she win Star Academy (Reality TV Show for singers) in 2002.
You can listen "La jument de Michao" and "Cassé" to Nolwenn Leroy, and her beautiful cover of "Like a prayer" of Madonna. Thank you Derek
Dereck *** sorry
Que dire de plus après ces commentaires. Je suis bretonne et j'approuve !!! Comme dirait derek
Vive la Bretagne ! Are you here Ronan ? Thanks you Dereck !
Happy you love celtic vibes. You have some some pipes sounds and mystical vibes along with sensuality in Kate Bush's The Sensual World. And of course in traditionnal scottish beautiful "The Skye Boat song" , adapted and used as theme song for the serie Outlander. ❤
This is not the original version, but very good nonetheless. It was previously sung by Alan Stivell in the 70's.
This song dates from the 19th century, it is a traditional Breton sailor song. But indeed, it was Alan Stivell's adaptation released in 1972 that made it famous in France.
It's funny that Derek has the translation from Breton to English when I don't know the French translation!
Her accent sounds a bit french on occasion but her pronounciation of breton is mostly good and she enunciates properly and has a nice voice, so though it's not my favourite version of this song, it's far from a bad one!
You already knew this song, because of "MANAU : la Vallée de Dana"
It is a remix from Alan stivell. I am part of the family of Denez Prigent and it is such a pleasure to listen to this song from my "land of legends". We almost know everybody each others. So thank you to bring this music to the world!
Hello Dereck! Im your #subscriber here at in San Diego, California. Love your react.
Hi , San Diego !
Mais MICHA-O , ça me fera toujours rire , désolé
if you love brittain celtic songs ,take a look at Alan stivell who create this songs. And Bagad band songs too...

The metal band Eiluveitie also have a great version of that classic folk song, from an album stuffed with bangers.

Among the versions I particularly like of "Tri Martolod", there is that of the album "Again", more rock (like all the album), with the participation of Shane McGowan, the singer of the Pogues. ua-cam.com/video/3pOIeLOE4tw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AlexL
And also Laurent Voulzy in the choirs :D

It’s not French. It’s in Breton, a
Celtic language from Britain. 🇬🇧❤️
The Bretons apparently left England and Wales when the Anglo-Saxons arrived about 1400 years ago. However, it’s not sure why, as with modern archaeology, it was a mainly non-violent ‘invasion’.
It’s now more likely they left to just preserve their language and traditions. ❤
Not like France is protecting them now, unlike the celtic languages in the UK and Ireland today. ❤
It must have even been a little violent because if the men moved around a lot, the women did little and it was they who transmitted the culture and the language. The fact that Celtic languages and cultures had to take refuge in the north (Scotland), west (Wales, Cornwall and Ireland) and south (Brittany) of England demonstrates that the Anglo-Saxon invasion ( coming from Denmark and northern Germany) must not have been very calm...
It's not Britain but Brittany.
Yes try: Run it down or Cassé by her great song too !
Gran cantante ! Me gusta mucho "Histoire naturelle" de ella: ua-cam.com/video/n0KrmJ_6mXc/v-deo.html
I prefer thé original version by Alan Stivel 1973
Yes, it's our minority langage called "breton" spoken in west of France by less than 200 000 people.... French politics wanted to destroy it to impose "French langage"... but we have resisted!! Brittany, our country, is a land of culture, of legends and very famous by our flag and our food! Sorry, I speak better "breton" than "English"... 😘
I prefer her own songs, they are much better. No interest for this one. Lost of time!
T pas breton toi à mon avis
