Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Dalida reaction with a double react for both the French and Spanish versions. A Patreon said this was a well known big hit of the artist, and I see why! Not only is this somewhat controversial specifically for it's time, but the melody and arrangement is superb! See my react now!

She really knew a guy named Lucio he was younger much younger than Dalida, She got pregnant with him, but had an abortion on his demand and probably due to their age difference. Her private life despiste fame was a real tragedy all men she knew commited suicide as we already mentionned it in previous comments. She's still an Icon to this day !!!! ♥♥♥♥♥

Thanx. The Spanish rendition is my fav since i discovered it in 2009. A little anecdote about the song. When the lyricist was about to present the song to Dali, he hesitated saying " I have a song for you, but I believe it's not for you! " She laughed saying "I love it when people tell me that a song is not for me". So she asked him to present it to her and she was charmed and decided to record it.

Dereck, I have just read the Wikipedia entry for Dalida. Goodness me, I have rarely read anything more tragic, right from when she was a child. Thank you so much for introducing me to this beautiful lady and her music. I read that in 1988, the year after her death, she was voted the second most influential French person - behind General De Gaulle. Rest in peace Dalida, especially as you had so little of it during your life.

And don't forget that in France, until 1974 , the majority was in 21 years old. The song is from 1975. So it was still iconoclastic for most of the people.
We had a big scandal in Marseilles in 1968 " l'affaire Gabrielle Russier " : A teatcher (33 years old) had a love story with her student that was 18 years old. The teacher was condamned and committed suicide in her prison.

You might be interested in a UK Artist whose music isn't listened/reacted to a lot. The Artist is called Tony Christie and he had quite a few songs in the 70s. However, he had three big hits I Did What I Did for Maria (1971), Is This the Way to Amarillo (1971) & Avenue & Alleyways (1973). Out of the 3 Is This the Way to Amarillo was his biggest hit especially when it was revived in 2005 with the help of UK comedian Peter Kay where it reached number 1.

Let me tell you: Mina (Mazzini) is the mother of all the european singers. I could litterally name tens and tens of her songs and you probably know some ("Parole, parole, parole" covered by Dalida or "Il cielo in una stanza" from Scorsese's Goodfellas just to name a couple) but my suggestion for a first reaction would be "Insieme" (1970) while "Brava" (1965) could easily show you all her vocal skills.

    Hello *Dereck,*
ua-cam.com/video/xuwsZUumlsE/v-deo.html Here the French version with English subtitles. I don't understand why they didn't give you this link first (Blocked for your country maybe?). In France legal age is 18, not 21 as in the USA.
I hope you'll react soon to *"Dalida - Gigi L`Amoroso 1975,"* my favorite by far. I find in this song something like the epitome of the Latin mom and wife; by turns playful, reassuring, and not hesitating to lie a little to get along; "Americans don't get it..." - In the song; *Gigi* went to the USA to seek glory, but he returned without a victory to his small village in Italy where he was born. She brings together all the inhabitants to talk about her *Gigi*, which all have happy memories, etc. (There's an English version by her, the lyrics, interpretation, and music are very close to the French version)
I think it's the song where she embodied the most in her interpretation (personally, I find that her version of "I'm sick" was overplayed) and which, by rebound, finally embodies her, the better.
*"He just turned 18"* ranks second on my podium.
    That's all for Dalida.
    Peace, folks.

The theme of this song is not sex, despite it can seem. It is the point of view of a 36 years old woman, with all the path of her 36 years in joy and sorrow behind her, who meets a 18 years old young man ("beautiful as a child, strong as a man", says in French). The woman, for this time, with nostalgia for her youth, accepts to be seduced by the young man and for a night she is again young and free. But the morning after the reality comes and she sees how the age makes things, and life, different for both of them and she leaves him go. She, an adult person with all the awarness of an adult opposed to the naivety and self-confidence of the young man's youth, knows she can't stay with the young man, but she's happy she had the opportunity to dream, and to be young again, for some hours. The theme is hence the comparison between attitudes toward life, and love, of a young man and an adult woman. I suggest you to find a good translation of the french text.

      Bonsoir Olivier,
The song is 1975, and if my memories are good, it was President Giscard who downed the age of legal majority at 18 (But no matter, cause it was the 70s, the hippie years, free love, etc.). And, as long as no one complains, like today, we let it happen. But moreover, a Frenchman can obtain his majority at 16 if his parents agree to emancipate him.
