Every time I hear this song I can feel this amazing artists pain.. her eyes in her video portrays her sorrow & she sings about her life with such raw emotion, it’s difficult not to feel it, whether you’re an empathetic type of person or not. The sound is derivative of The Ronnette's produced by Phil Spector which Mark Ronson (producer of this album) was clearly influenced by "the Wall of Sound" made popular by Phil Spector. Amy's look is also very much inspired by Ronnie Spector and the Ronnettes. Ronnie covered Back to Black after Amy's death.

Just two albums, Frank, and Back To Black. In which she lays her love life out for all to see. Each relationship makes her feel more and more like trash. But all the songs are beautiful. "Take the Box" from the first album is my personal favourite. Then "Love is a losing game" from the second.
I had the absolute pleasure and honour to attend one of Amy's UK concerts, and she was incredible live. That was way before
"The business" destroyed her.

She’s one of the greatest vocalist of all time. A true tragedy. Back to black beginning to end is such an incredible album. Frank as well. Her story is tragic, the scrutiny she received in the midst of her struggle was horrendous. Instead of helping society laughed and mocked her pain.

It’s a case study in what “yes men” will do to you. Her father famously allowed the label to convince him to convince her to keep going and not get the help she needed. She was crying for help. Rehab was an ironic song because it was an addict that wrote it and she even spelled it out in the lyrics, “…and my daddy says I’m fine…”. Valerie is my favorite song by her and Mark Ronson did a bangin’ video after she passed with her vocals on the track.

Amy had a brilliant voice. Her background was steeped in Jazz/blues and she was so suited to that style. A tragic story and a very sorry day when we lost her. And yes, she said what you think she said. You should check out You Know That I'm No Good, and Valerie.
Amy Winehouse was an absolute revelation. You'd never get it from the tune, but she was from England (Southgate). Can't sleep on the UK, brother! She was also from a Jewish family if I'm not mistaken. She was brilliant and this tune is absolute fire.
