The official video does add a lot to the song. It's definitely worth a watch. Based on the lyrics and the video, it's very much a funeral for a relationship, Amy being the widow grieving.

She wrote this when her husband, Blake cheated on her w/his ex. What a jerk he was!! She said he loved blow (cocaine) and she loved puff (weed). He destroyed her. So sad!! She said she loved Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, to name a few. She went back to black-talking about her doing herion. She died due to acute alcoholism-my sister did too and her name was Amy. 😞
@@jpeopolis black is actually meant to be a reference for alcohol and not heroin! she started taking heroin when she married him, which was after back to black was written and released :(
Bollocks .Amy were no angel nor a fool. Only an idiot would honestly think a relationship's gonna truly work when it was one born from Amy cheating on her first partner with Blake, as he were cheatimg on his partner , yes, the one he went back to. As for the heroin, again, she wanted a piece of that pie, Blake didnt twist her arm or put a gun to her head. She came to the table already messed up in her head, and Blake were messed up too. Stop thinking the sun shone our of Amy's arse.
This song is so evocative, they all were. It was a very sad day when she died. She wrote with raw honesty, her songs are a biography of her life in real-time. I love this song but it is so very very melancholic.
Amy redefined the genre of jazz, using the most uniquely different interpretation that had ever been seen before or after her passing. Her lyrics were profound on a level with genius writers like Bob Dylan. George Michael was so impressed with her Back To Black album and was especially drawn to her song 'Love Is A Losing Game', which he said cemented her in his mind as being the best writer he's ever known of. He was so impressed that he would do a cover of the song in his concerts. Adele's recent song 'Love Is A Game' was highly influenced by Amy's song, in fact when Amy won the Grammy for her Back To Black Album, Adele can be seen up front, in the audience, cheering like a young school girl. Angelina Jordan was also influenced by Amy's unusual inflections and 'slurring' of words at times to add more of a natural affect instead of perfect diction which isn't what jazz is all about and she actually visited Amy's life size statue in front of her home in London where she was photographed as she hugged it.
This is a masterpiece ! That’s why people still listen to it and it NEVER dies ! Every artist know the GREAT Amy jade winehouse ! Lana del Ray , Adele , Rihanna , Ariana grande , billie eillish and so much more ! Miley Cyrus has covered BTB , arctic monkeys’ cover of “ You know I’m no good “ and Tony benet’s feat with her ... Ty for reaction. Such a talented singer, song writer. Died too soon but not forgotten.
She astounds me with her word artistry, a modern day poet as well as one of the best voices in pop this and last century , wow ..... Hey BJ I am a massive Billy Holiday fan too, did you see the recent film on her
Black can also mean something else. It was alluding to her future. She went back to something awful. RIP TO AMY WINEHOUSE. Thank you for honoring her
I'm glad you listened to the uncensored version.
Duffy is a similar genere to Amy another good artist. She sings I'm Scared, Warwick Avenue and a few more
Stepping Stone!
Every time I hear her beautiful unique voice, I feel grief all over again that she is gone, and gone so tragically. What joy she could have brought us if she had lived
Thank you for the Billie Holiday reference. I wasn't sure if it was just me thinking that. Amy sings deep deep from her soul. When I first heard of her, when she first came out, I felt the old Billie Holiday vibe. Both were amazing women.
She's a original, reclusive in many ways what a Great voice.
Her voice, calm your soul.... RIP Amie.🙏
One of her heavy inspirations was also Sarah Vaughan!
Love that woman. So sad what happened to her life. She's a beautiful soul with once in a lifetime God given talent. Bless her soul.
We are on a roll love me some Amy taken way too soon what a voice keep on Keepin On y'all peace out!
Brilliant reaction as always! Such a stellar artist! Rest peacefully Amy 💋❤
Asia, your look is priceless. we can see your surprise and attention to Amys voice.
All she sings became gold...she have some duets with Nas, tony benett....covers of Donny Hattaway...just hear her, i cry...it s too emotional...it s hard for me to believe that a generation discover her only now...i start to be old 😅 his story is beautiful and sad...whatt talent. THE Sarah Vaughan of years 2000...Never i can forgot the day i heard that she died....i was 33. I hope the young people continued to hear her a loooong time...
I had it explained to me by a huge Amy Winehouse fan, that she wasn’t speaking hypothetically! When she said “black”, she was talking about black tar heroin! I don’t know if that’s true but it adds a whole new dimension to the song! 😢
Love your video! Amy was brilliant and I feel like she was like the 50's female singers with a bluesy feel. I wish she was still here. Listen to her sing "Will you Still Love me Tomorrow" you will love it. I saw her in person. Will never forget it.
It just goes on and on and on fantastic singers musicians of all types of music they are the best soul reggae rock indie you name it they have done it
Voice if a generation and a talent we can never forget, but this is the first time hearing Back to Black, hard time believing this 🤔
What a fabulous voice left us too soon what is it about these young very talented people that die before their time it's oh so sad Amy was incredible the short time she was with us I love her unique style of music and her direct lyrics will we see another Amy not in my lifetime mores the pity great reaction again you guys good taste keep it up
One of my favorites. From beginning to forever.
🤗💜🤗
Yeah. I thought black was both depression and black tar heroin. So sad, but so very poignant.
@@jpeopolis black is actually meant to be a reference for alcohol and not heroin! she started taking heroin when she married him, which was after back to black was written and released :(
@@cer-8039 Wow! I didn't know that. I appreciate the correction. So very sad. What an incredible talent. I second that :(
Bollocks .Amy were no angel nor a fool.
Loved her. Gone too soon. May her memory be for blessings
This song is so evocative, they all were. It was a very sad day when she died. She wrote with raw honesty, her songs are a biography of her life in real-time. I love this song but it is so very very melancholic.
God...I miss her talent and eccentricity!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Her acoustic performance of this on the ‘Silver Bullet’ channel is amazing 👍
This!! OMG makes me cry every time

Amy was to Soul/Jazz Music what Janis Joplin was to Blues/Rock : a TRUE ICON .
She has a lived voice even though she died young. She had old ghosts.
It's heavy in the building with Miss Amy Winehouse
It’s her 10 year anniversary today . Blees her as gone before her time 🥲
Amy redefined the genre of jazz, using the most uniquely different
interpretation that had ever been seen before or after her passing.
Her lyrics were profound on a level with genius writers like Bob Dylan.
George Michael was so impressed with her Back To Black album and
was especially drawn to her song 'Love Is A Losing Game', which he
said cemented her in his mind as being the best writer he's ever known
of. He was so impressed that he would do a cover of the song in his
concerts. Adele's recent song 'Love Is A Game' was highly influenced
by Amy's song, in fact when Amy won the Grammy for her Back To
Black Album, Adele can be seen up front, in the audience, cheering like
a young school girl. Angelina Jordan was also influenced by Amy's
unusual inflections and 'slurring' of words at times to add more of a
natural affect instead of perfect diction which isn't what jazz is all about
and she actually visited Amy's life size statue in front of her home in
London where she was photographed as she hugged it.
Respect for your Chat about Amy - always felt that.
People are going to be listening to Amy in the same way they still listen to Billie
Amy is so sincere 🖤
This is a masterpiece ! That’s why people still listen to it and it NEVER dies ! Every artist know the GREAT Amy jade winehouse ! Lana del Ray , Adele , Rihanna , Ariana grande , billie eillish and so much more ! Miley Cyrus has covered BTB , arctic monkeys’ cover of “ You know I’m no good “ and Tony benet’s feat with her ...

Wow thanks for reacting to this song ( even if its a year ago LOL). In the last couple of years I've started listening to Amy Winehouse myself as well. And definetely am a fan today, her voice is so addicting to listen to. I've really seen the Amy documentary Film from 2015. It was interesting when she said she was super into jazz. I love jazz music myself as well, so loved to hear that. I just subscribed to your channell, sending all my best from the Netherlands!
Hi Asia & BJ. Thanks to take the time to listen to the great Amy. I think you’d like too Mon Laferte and his song Tu Falta De Querer cause is one of the chilean singer most international acclaimed a couple of years ago. Cheers from🇨🇱
You should react to the entire Back to Black Album. It's Amazing
Bravo ! You' re riching to your audience listen the entire lyrics
We in England 🇬🇧 lost yet another great talent.. was such a shock to us as Americans felt at the loss of elvis and Michael Jackson.. R.I.P to all the wonderful talent taken too soon.
Excellent analysis of her voice - I totally agree! Watch the documentary AMY - hear what Tony Bennett says when they sing duets.
Check out the acoustic video of this. She was in a sober period but was sad. But the music she made then was 🔥 🔥 🔥
Larga vida a la reina del soul y el jazz saludos desde Santa Cruz Bolivia amamos a Amy
Wow Asia really felt this. Thanks :)
One of the singer legends and right up there with Nina Simone, Billy Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston etc.
Valerie the acoustic version is the best! You both will love it! Keep up the great work!
Saw Amy live just as she was getting known, she supported Arctic Monkeys at old Trafford in Manchester, and to state the bloody obvious, what a voice live...
Another great British singer Britain producers top class artist of all sorts of music
An interesting Fact. Amy and Adele attended the same school in London
Man, I remember the first time I heard Amy Winehouse. I was on my lunch break and browsing in a Borders Bookstore (remember those?) and they were playing this album over the store's speakers and I was like, "What IS this?" It sounded old and new at the same time. I ended up sticking around to hear the whole album even though I was supposed to be headed back to work. LOL.
All I hear is the pain in her voice and lyrics. Heartbreaking.
