@@albamartinez4987 Hell NO he wasn't. He was there to ride her coattails for the fame he couldn't get & always wanted. When she was quietly rehabbing in the Caribbean, her father is the one who called the paparazzi to come there to unknowing take photos of her. He got paid nicely. They were unflattering photos without her wig or makeup. She was very upset about this. He also convinced her to go back on tour when she said herself and was clearly not ready. $$$!! Very sad. After her death her father even took that as an opportunity to try and put out his own album and do some concerts. Needless to say, it didn't take off.
The song is about having a lack of closure after a relationship. In this case, her man left her to return to his ex. “You love blow and I love puff” Wow. Fucking wow.. Always loved Amy’s music but never followed her closely. But that line just caused me to piece together her descent into addiction and ultimately, her death. • Amy released first album ‘Frank’ in 2003. She drinks and smokes weed/puff just like most English twenty-somethings. She’s a healthy size and a beautiful looking woman. • Amy meets Blake in 2005. Blake is in a relationship with a woman he regularly uses crack and heroin with. • Amy and Blake get together for six months. Amy falls in love with Blake. Blake leaves her to return to the ex-girlfriend. • Amy’s heart was broken and she begins to drink heavily. She also loses an unhealthy amount of weight (through either Anorexia or Bulimia). Rehab was suggested to her. She goes but checks out almost immediately. • Amy records ‘Back To Black’ in 2006, most of which focuses on the heartbreak she feels from Blake leaving her and her life since he left. The album is a huge critical and commercial success. • Blake reappears in 2007 and they get back together. They get engaged immediately and married one main thing later. • Within months Amy is cancelling concerts citing ill-health. She’s already heavily using crack and heroin with Blake. There’s masses of other info/timelines online. I just wanted to figure out the timeline of this aspect of her addiction as I’ve had issues with addiction in my life. Maybe Amy would have always ended up following this path even if she hadn’t met Blake. But it looks like she felt like the only way to keep Blake was to embrace the reason she thought he left her in the first place. “You love blow and I love puff” In order to keep him, she felt she has to join him fully in using crack and heroin. And it destroyed her. Crack and heroin destroys everyone, but it seems women are physically affected worse than men are. Heavy use takes its toll on women more than it does on men. Also, when Blake returned to his ex, it appears that if Amy had been conscious about her body then it developed into dysmorphia. She remained painfully underweight until she died only five years later. Such a sad death. Such a talent and such a beautiful woman, both inside and out. RIP Amy. Doubt anyone will read this comment but for personal reasons I wanted to write it down. Addiction is fucker and ruins so many lives. Addicts need help, not scorn.

In the music video if you look closely, the box that they were burying was meant to contain Amy “heart”. She was using that symbolism as a metaphor for heart break!
Gone too soon! RIP Amy! You had so much more to give. What a tragedy...should've went to rehab. She died from alcohol poisoning. The man she's talking about is what Bobby Brown was to Whitney. He wasn't no good for her.

When she talks about being in the black, it's opposed to being in the red. She initially sings about her tears drying after he leaves and finding a way she moves on in the black, and not stuck in the red. That's the way I always read into it.
Thank you for reacting to this one. As far as I'm concerned, this was Amy's best song. Heartbreaking what happened to her. She could have had a much bigger career, but she used alcohol and drugs to fight her depression and lost that battle. Thank you for sharing.

Very unusual for one so very young to become a legend and yet, she was..... in spite of her fast life, or perhaps because of it, she was always approachable to fans and very humble. A National Treasure of the UK....may she rest in peace xxxx
She was on eof the biggest Talents to come out of the UK. She also was Schoolmates with Adele and Jessi J. but instead of calling it a PErforming Arts High School, it was called "Stage School". Her music has been very popular and it was used on The UK Soap Opera Eastenders when they did a Documentary about one of the Characters Stacey Slater and on Emmerdale, they used another one of her Songs "You Know I'm No Good" when they did a profile on Kelly Windsor. She had a major drug habit that destroyed her at 27 which was also the same age that Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana died as well as Brian Jones of The Rolling stones died.
2 albums = Gold. True story I was at a festival with my then GF and we both agreed we needed to see her live before she died and sadly what the world could see coming became reality soon after. She was spectacular live. Such a sad and tragic loss she is to the world. RIP
She wrote this about Blake Fielder. When she met him he was with another woman. They both had an affair and it broke her heart when he went back to his woman. The video symbolizes her dying inside. They eventually married, he introduced her to heroin and crack. She didn't commit suicide as such, but the lifestyle Fielding introduced her to was her demise. Her body was broken with years of alcohol, substance abuse and having an eating disorder, and eventually she died of alcohol poisoning .
This is such a sad song, it is about her break up with the love of her life who left her for an old girlfriend. At the time Any and her boyfriend were both heavily addicted to drugs (lyrics 'you love blow and I love pow' and 'life is like a pipe') The break up started the spiral downwards that finally killed her. The burial in the video is her heart and 'back to black' is a metaphor for darkness and depression. Hope that helped a little.
I'm sure someone else has already mentioned it but the funeral is for Amy's heart. Sometimes, a show of strength is just a disguise for the most vulnerable.
REHAB is a badass song she wrote and another one is YOU KNOW IM NO GOOD she loved Sara Vaughn and she sings TEACH ME TONIGHT on Jules Holand Show and damn the way she kills it makes you close your eyes and swear ...so badass.

There’d be no reason to hide this information since everyone knew about her previous drug addictions. I’d heard Amy Whinehouse songs before, like in the background, but never really listened to them. When you take the time to really listen to a song, especially a song written with a lot of emotion involved, it’s really effecting. Also listening post Mortem, it’s even more so.

There is an amazing live version where she is chillin' on a couch, looking at her nails and playing with her hair while she sings Valerie. She was effortlessly talented!
The original version was by The Zutons, Amy wasn't "talking about" anything. Mark Ronson just thought it would be a great song for her to cover, with her voice.
Big fan of Amy, I'm a big Metalhead & Rap fan, but Amy was ahead of her time. Just a one of a kind artist and person. She had alot of struggles. She finally beat her drug issues got clean from it all. And then basically relapsed on her drinking died of alcohol poisoning. She was misunderstood, yet loved by alot of other musicians even rappers as well. She was really good friends with Nas.
You hit the nail on the head. All of us have had the emotions Amy sings about, but very few of us put those emotions to poetry. When we hear that familiar poetry about our own lives comes out of the mouths of signers (strangers) like Amy were immediately drawn in. We wonder how they know “my” story and then realize it’s “our” story. All of us.
You two are so great together! Such a pleasure to see your love and respect gor each other. Big hearts and big character on display. What a pair. Been watching from afar for a long time and I've never written a comment anywhere before. Please keep it all up!! God bless you!

I consider myself an amateur music-historian, and this is one of my top ten songs of all time. I'm a grown-ass man and will tear up every time I hear this song. She was brilliant, but knew the warnings of her addictions and ignored them. She could have given us 40+ more years of brilliance.

Fun fact: before her death, the tombstone read something like "here lies the heart of Amy Winehouse" She's having a funeral for her heart in the video
Amy’s voice was unmistakably her...
Gangsta to the end
This is such a sad song, it is about her break up with the love of her life who left her for an old girlfriend.
At the time Any and her boyfriend were both heavily addicted to drugs (lyrics 'you love blow and I love pow' and 'life is like a pipe')
The break up started the spiral downwards that finally killed her.
The burial in the video is her heart and 'back to black' is a metaphor for darkness and depression.
Hope that helped a little.
Black is also a reference to heroin. ‘You love blow and I love puff’ ‘I tread a troubled track’ black tar heroin.
I'm sure someone else has already mentioned it but the funeral is for Amy's heart. Sometimes, a show of strength is just a disguise for the most vulnerable.
Amy left a huge print on music. Fantastic vocalist & lyricist. RIP, Amy! You are truly missed.🙏🏽
He comes in and uses her and then always returns to his other woman so she is left with emptiness
REHAB is a badass song she wrote and another one is YOU KNOW IM NO GOOD she loved Sara Vaughn and she sings TEACH ME TONIGHT on Jules Holand Show and damn the way she kills it makes you close your eyes and swear ...so badass.
You want to have a little fun with Amy Winehouse ?
Listen to “Stronger Than Me” off of Frank.
It’s one of my favorite songs of hers.
Bust out the lyrics and have fun with it!
it is a wonderful thing expanding your musical tastes. there are some incredible artists out there. RIP Amy Winehouse.
She didn't commit suicide, she died from addictive drug complications.
She died from a heroin overdose...
@@danieltjchalmerschalmers2165 no..she died from accidental alcohol poisoning due to the insane amount of alcohol she consumed and her bullimia made her heart stop in her sleep. she quit drugs cold turkey in 2009 for good and died in 2011
@@samcleary5719 yeah that’s what the say but that’s not how she died.... don’t believe everything the tv and media tell you 😂
@@danieltjchalmerschalmers2165 lmao she literally died from alcohol poisoning.. she was over 30% of the lethal amount of alcohol that should be in ones system... her eating disorders and her being sober for the previous 10 days mixed with her medication to help stop addiction literally stopped her heart in her sleep. There’d be no reason to hide this information since everyone knew about her previous drug addictions. You should really watch her documentary before spouting blatant lies on the internet that daft people will actually believe.
Another artist who joined the 27 club.
Been sober for almost a decade, bless her heart.
Find a live version of her doing “Valerie” 🤯 her magical soul was too much for this world 🌎
I think it was the other way around, this world was too much for Amy and it destroyed her soul
"Love is a Losing Game" and "Tears Don't Dry on Their Own" live at the church are incredible
She was a beautiful soul with heavy words..she died in misery and pain...rest on Amy!
Enormous talent and shone brightly like the star she was
You need to watch the Amy documentary. Beautiful human being 🖤
Amy is my girl. She can sing angst and tell a man off at the same time. See y’all need hear, ‘In My Bed’ My Tears Dry On Their Own, Body and Soul duet with Tony Bennett and and and...oh and Cherry Wine fea NAS...
There is a biopic about her called Amy. It’s on cable.
Amy belting out live, Valerie is my favorite. She just chillin in a chair in a green room or some undisclosed location. Chills 🥹
Tears dry on their own is one of my favorite Amy songs! 🎵
The documentary “Amy” is very good
I grabbed this Album as soon as it came out. It is fantastic. It features of course her mega hit "Rehab."
When she died, I couldn't listen to any of her songs without crying. It was a year before I could handle listening to :Rehab."
She had such a bright future and her life ended way too soon.
Your reaction to this song, getting what Amy was singing about, made me a subscriber. Thank you for this!💜
I'd try "Rehab", "You Know I'm No Good", and "Tears Dry On Their Own".
Right 🙏🙏
Thank you for your reaction. I hope you react to more Amy Winehouse. :)
'You know I'm no good' by Amy is also a classic! You sbould check it out!
Honestly if she had lived on, she would have become the queen of jazz in the 21st century.
I’d heard Amy Whinehouse songs before, like in the background, but never really listened to them. When you take the time to really listen to a song, especially a song written with a lot of emotion involved, it’s really effecting. Also listening post Mortem, it’s even more so.
Jai- I know what you mean about ‘on the same level’ Amy’s CD was one of the few I’ve ever bought & I listened to every single song on repeat- she has that *thing* I love your sensitivity!
She had a terrible addiction and her body wore out.
Jai - I love that you show your emotions and guess what .... that is what music does to us!
She was a incredibly talented young women! In the 27 club! RIP 🙏 AMY
She had an amazing voice & wrote some incredible lyrics & tunes.gone but never forgotten 💖 rip Amy.
Yes l always love her. Behind her beautiful eyes at one point you could see the pain.
Could u react to Valerie by Amy . I think she was talking about drugs.
There is an amazing live version where she is chillin' on a couch, looking at her nails and playing with her hair while she sings Valerie. She was effortlessly talented!
Valerie is a cover song but Amy maid it her own
@@mamamac70 That's my favorite version!
The original version was by The Zutons, Amy wasn't "talking about" anything. Mark Ronson just thought it would be a great song for her to cover, with her voice.
The original song was written about a girl named Valerie that the guy who wrote the song had to leave in America when he moved back to the U.K. ❤️
Half, you’ve got the moves that Amy would have dancing next to her. You’ll see when you watch more of her stuff.
Thank you for this reaction guys ❤️. Have you guys reacted to love is a losing game ? I think you’ll also like it . Amy was amazing .
god bless you amy.
one of the highest talents from these shores.
a fire that burned so bright it was blinding..
rip.
R.I.P. Amy Winehouse 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 she was an amazing vocalist 💯💯💯
R.I.P. Amy....an absolute bad-ass. Just incredible.
This guy is so shallow, lmao. "Women thing". Sad.
he is wack
So original so talented ......so loved
Amy loved the sound of the mid-60s US Girl Groups like The Shangri-Las and Ronnettes and gives a nod to them here.
Women just get what she's saying more than men. She was amazing. Just glad we were blessed to hear her voice. Rip Amy!
Mmmmm men that do music definitely understand
Oh yeah thats what she said! Loved her. She's missed. ♡♡♡
Stars like Amy will always shine bright.
We love you Jai, i'm sensitive too. Touching songs, movies, things that happen to others or animals. I feel you 💕
Yeah, I've never thought about it until you guys talked through the meaning. But I get "I go back to loss. I go back to the death of something I wanted" - dressed in black. Thanks you two.
She died of Alcohol poisoning. She was 27 like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain. This song is about her guy going back to his ex and she goes back to depression.
I consider myself an amateur music-historian, and this is one of my top ten songs of all time. I'm a grown-ass man and will tear up every time I hear this song. She was brilliant, but knew the warnings of her addictions and ignored them. She could have given us 40+ more years of brilliance.
Amy had one of the most powerful voices to ever exist. She didn’t commit suicide, but drank herself to death. In the video, she’s burying her own heart.
Amy ♥️
Amy is legit. She’s felt every word she wrote
