Hey if you find the true odds i may be able to use it. Linked is a spreadsheet i have that is assuming No trait and Random trait is equal rates and then child inheriting parent's rate is Double that rate and parents with both traits Quadruple normal rate. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tNs7P3drcJtQ9PbKDFxIhgWRoVmCwOPurlu7c8iq1Kc/edit?usp=sharing
This is great info, and i have a question: let's say i WANT random mutations. Like i have a legendary and i want to get Ferocious or work slave on it. What kind of passive spread should i get that would give me the most mutations?
@Blit_Wizbok Last night i bred 1x0 on Direwolf on a new save with friends. It took ~210 eggs for my desired mutations to appear (from only having one), breed down and to breed out bad traits for a perfect speed1,2,3,Ferocious Pal. That was enough extras to get two to 3-star and one to 4-star. I haven't compared 1x0 vs 1x1 but i know that 1x1 will create more random mutations than 2x2 or 3x3 By my findings about 25% more white traits appeared (This is a VERY isolated number that HAPPENS to fit the question but no EXACT test on this so MIGHT be accurate.)
Yes all 4 traits is what I've been wondering! Because all my breeding in my mind was once I got 1 with all 4 traits I wanted it seemed easier but I could be wrong and working harder for nothing 😂
I laughed so hard at "make sure your pal assigned to the furnace isn't standing on top of a tree instead of doing his damn job" I had to pause the video.
I hope they fix that pathing bug. My Pals just afk on top of ores and rocks and trees and even base structures like the statue of power. Resetting them or reloading the game does not fix it.
For some reason, whenever I try to manually assign, my pal assigned to furnace keeps trying to be assigned to the cooler or advanced crafting station which was miles away even though it has none of the skills for it.
palpedia has a "multiple breeder" where you put in what pals you have, and what pal you want, and it figures out the shortest route to get that pal. Much better than doing it manually
OH THANK GOD. This is going to help so much for my ADHD ass, I keep getting lost in breeding combinations and completely forgetting what I was even doing lmao
Another tip from someone that has done a few thousand eggs, is trait isolation. if you have a tame with too many traits and only 1-2 you need to sort out, what you can do is use a one trait or no trait partner to isolate those traits in an offspring. This is how I isolate things like Legend and lucky off pals that would otherwise take a lot longer to breed to make future breeds easier. I have a tab for isolated work traits like concieted and work slave, which make it easier to produce perfect pairs.
These intros man. 10/10. "But Austin John, what about the IV of the Pals? I have 2 Pals that are the same level, but have drastically different stats, accounting for passives and other bonuses." Love you buddy, I hope you get monetized soon. You are doing a fantastic job.
@@squ1r7y IVs range from a 0% to 30% boost in the stat growth per level-up. They don't boost the base level 0 stats, so they don't make much difference at low levels, but at max level the difference between perfect IVs and worst IVs is like ~20-25% in total stats
Pushing the algorithm here to the max by clicking all the buttons. I'm really happy to see you cover palworld after giving me so much good and precise intel for diffrent nintendo titles! thanks for all the hard work!
incredible stuff man.. when playing any new game i seek out information content creators and you’re one of, if not the best i’ve seen for palworld so far
Good work. I've spent about 40 hours breeding different Pals and while I didn't come to the realization of the 2-trait parents, I did find a correlation between parents having LESS traits passing them down more easily than those having more. I bred identical Jetragons for everyone on my server. Speedy bois!
I have 120+ Jetragons banked. I should soon have a Legend Swift Runner Nimble. But... do I 4-star my speedwagon, or save them for a Legend Musclehead Burly Body Swift? The former seems like overkill, right? I already have a max speed rank 5 Galeclaw I just finished today.
Just a tip to keep your pal box some what's organized build a viewing cage and put all you breeders in those you can transfer from your pal box whilst in your viewing cage makes it 10x easier to keep track of your breeding lines
Also, build a viewing cage, fill it up with pals, destroy the cage, now you have a circle with balls on the floor. Build a new viewing page on top, and repeat. Now you don't run out of pal storage
You missed some stuff. The 2 and 2 makes it easier, but the mutations happen based off the same trait getting picked twice or a blank space being chosen. So when a pair breed, the egg gets a random roll of 1-4 traits from the parents, then it picks the traits... if a parent only has one trait but the roll selects 3 from the parent then the 2 blanks will have a chance to make a random mutation; also if the same trait is picked it also causes a mutation on the second pick. I learned this breeding 4 banger chickpi's that only had 2 passives I wanted from each the other passives where grey element attack defense junkers. After breeding like you did I saw the patterns more clearly.
Glad to see you venture into Palworld! Been checking out your Pokemon content here and there the last couple years, and look forward to see what else you have in store!
This is the best treatment of breeding I've seen on the Internet. Oddly enough, I learned by experience that 2 + 2 was the way to go. I had miserable performance with 1 + 3 and used lots of cake to get that experience. Good job!
I don’t even play Palworld, but your guides on Pokémon & Zelda are top tier. I gotta support you regardless ❤ thank you for the best vids & experiencing new games!
3:40 almost similar thing happens to my Pals, they get hungry status but they're just stuck standing on top of the Feed Box looking at me like they're waiting for my permission to start eating.
Also, just to add: 4+x is by far the BEST I've seen. 4 in both gives me another 4 really fast... But, you may ask "I already have a 4 skills, why I want another?"... Well, first is the case you want multiples of base pals, like perfect worker Anubis, Mozzarinas and the likes. Second case is having a species with 4 skills you want in ANOTHER species. Just get that one 4 skilled and go all the way to your desired one breeding it with a pair that has, at least, one of the skills from the whole set. I've done this and ALL my mounts had Lucky/Swift/Runner/Nimble from a Beakon (by lvl 30) to a Astegon (lvl 47 saddle). Now I'll try to get Legendaries and see how effective it will be to pass Legend skill replacing the least effective on from the set (well, after I get Jetragon, fast mounts will be kinda dated, and I already have 10 perfect anubis, 3 mozzas and so on... so my only breeding left is combat pals. Wish me LUCK!!)
Great video, very informative. Sorry you had to delete four hours of footage, that can be so frustrating! I do appreciate the effort you take in making your videos.
It looks like you've stopped doing videos on this channel but if you're not, I would love to see an updated video on efficient breeding for passives and IVs in palworld. It looks like they have changed some mechanics since this video. It also seems that offspring tend to inherit IVs and passives from parents of the same sex more easily than of the opposite sex.
Austin, I'm so glad you're playing this cause evryone else is terrible and a liar and you're great and back it up with spreadsheets. This saved me a bunch of time as I'm making my way down the list with perfect breeds
THANK YOU, AJP!!! I didn't realize this was how breeding specific traits worked....I wasted the past week away trying to breed the perfect Swee/Sweepa team and only got 2 decent Swee. (I'm level 28 btw, and haven't gotten the Legend trait yet, but I wanted a headstart on a good team) ....now I'm not sure I'm really getting a headstart, because I'll have to breed ALL OVER AGAIN once I get said trait....fml. But thanks again AJP. Very helpful video, as always
Nice breakdown, wish I saw this sooner. I’ve been breeding hundreds of Rayhounds and came to the same conclusion as you with the two perks on both parents.

I actually got a joltog cryst from a cage yesterday which the free pal alliance had ironically captured. I have not looked into the story yet but it feels very PETA to me having some FREE pal alliance members CAGING pals
I think the lore is pretty bare bones at this point, but there are journal entries you can find from their leader (Lily?) who has a hardlined stance on fighting the exploitation of Pals, but questions her people's tactics. Mechanically, though, it seems every hostile NPC is just set to attack everything in sight equally.
I had a suspicion that having the same trait on both parents wouldn't help, but I didn't know how to check it. Thanks a lot, this information will be very helpful in the future.
Thanks for the breeding help. That’s going to speed things up for sure. Hopefully all those Chickpis helped with a hopefully upcoming IV video! Intros are great man keep them coming!

thanks you very much for this extremely helpful guide! I was trying my hand at breeding and had no idea what the heck I was doing! this video will save me so much time!
If you're going to max out the star rating you're going to need to sacrifice a ton of the same kind of Pal. So being less efficient just equals having more rejects so you can do that quicker.
Sir! I respect all the time and effort you put in. That’s why I support all you do! You are the successor of driftor my friend . I say it as a high compliment!
I've been looking for a video to explain how to pass down legend thank you for explaining it clearly, been trying to pass down lucky and legend to a shadowbeak
I figured out pretty much all of this intuitively. It's not too complicated. After breeding a few dozen pals I figured out how the trait passing worked. Just today I finally got a Galeclaw with Legend, Runner, Swift, and Nimble, and it has 79/76/65 IVs, so not bad. I smashed 109 failed attempts and the 7 extras I had to catch into it and now have level 5 Galeclaw Rider with 175% movement speed! I nearly crossed the continent in a single glide! The one question I have is what exactly it does when you have more than 4 traits passed down. My anecdotal experience with just 200 or so breedings is that it seems to prefer higher-ranked traits. I see 3-4 gold and 0-1 common most frequently when I breed 2g + 3g1c. When it generates random new traits, it also can choose any number of new traits to add. I've combined Swift + Runner + Legend and Runner + Nimble + Aggressive and gotten a pal with Nimble and 3 random common traits. But most notably, while I could randomly extract a rare trait to get a breeding pair of 2+2 golds in just 10-20 eggs, getting a single common trait where I needed it took me easily three times that much. Doesn't seem to be a problem when you're working with 4 or less traits total, but as soon as you have 5 or more unique traits on your breeding pair, suddenly the common trait never shows up. At least, that's what happened for me so far. Curious! Either way, the solution is to prune down to exactly the 2 traits you need and produce pairs like that until you get a male and female each with two unique traits of the four you want, then it's easy and you're just waiting for good IVs.
Just a tip : use the Viewing cage. It allows you to store way more pals from the breeding way more easily, and also revive pals instantly (this one is probably a glitch)
Amazing video I always look for a channel that does all the number crunching on stuff like this u have earned yourself a sub. Keep up the great work ❤️
Thank you so much for this video I went through at least 100 breeding pairs with no avail. I watched this video and no joke after implementing his method the VERY NEXT egg was EXACTLY what I wanted! Dude you are the 💩! Thank you! Great video!
I enjoyed hearing you talk about this using so much biology terminology, makes it easier to think about this as genetics, not just traits that combine. Also the first video that explained 3 or 4 traits is worse than 1 or 2
I’m so glad you’re now playing palworld Austin, now I get to watch more of your content. I did watch your pokemon S/V walkthroughs and guides a lot. And now it’s time for palworld guides and walkthroughs.😀
I can definitely confirm the passive passing down and the likelihood. I did a similar test before this was out using Anubis and breed 230 of them with almost the same percentages.
Hopefully as they refine the game, they create things we can use to increase chances of wanted traits. Like possibly structures we can build associated with traits
3:25 - "Get beeguard, mozzarina and chickpi" - false. only get a beeguard and get the merchant that sells eggs, milk and wheat. you can instead have more berry farms and sell surplus berries to buy eggs , milk and wheat. it is far more efficient.
Drop everything, Austin John just dropped a new vid! Lol, gonna be working on breeding on the multiplayer server tonight so this comes at the perfect time :D
Wow, nice analysis. Love to see this level of work put into a video. Although 116 probably isn't large enough of a sample size to eliminate significant variance, I respect the effort this took.
I always live by the philosophy that a fairly large sample size, 50-100 is usually substantial enough to start to identify patterns and loose percentages. It's not large enough for exact percentages. And if there are no patterns in 100 tests then there are just NO patterns. If it feels like there COULD be something, test more.
Great info, maybe a bit too late as I stumbled on this in my random breeding quest for some pal workers. But it's nice to see the same conclusion proven so I know I am not a mad scientist in my breeding farm says "this SHOULD work right?!" haha you earned a sub from this mad-lad
Havn't seen this talked about often, but if you build the bellin your base it allows yoi to set pals actions from either Focus on defense or Focus on work. Helps keep pals doing their damn job.
Much geek cred to you, sir. I wasted about 50 in game days finding all this to be true... but kept no record... you made the charts! "If you didn't know these things, you should probably watch this video" ... if you did know, you should probably go out and talk to people more often. (Inside good, outside bad!)
Was getting a little frustrated with the breeding. I thought my luck was just crap (it is) so any percentage extra I can squeeze out will help me massively. Also Subscribed as a thank you for this. Imma see what more stuff you have. Thank you!
The fact that palworld would have only been out for 2 weeks at the making of this video and we already know this much is insane. Not hating just think its impressive how much people can learn and do this amount of extensive research into something in this short amount of time is awesome. Especially considering the game is still in early access.

Glad you popped back up. Havent seen videos since pokemon arceus
Ayee Always good to see an AustinJohn video guide
Just a tip : use the Viewing cage. It allows you to store way more pals from the breeding way more easily, and also revive pals instantly (this one is probably a glitch)
Oh shit, that's the real tip. Too bad its only in single player, not dedicated servers right now.
Lets get these numbers up! This man really but putting in hours of free content for us when he dont have to! We got your back Austin John!
Amazing video I always look for a channel that does all the number crunching on stuff like this u have earned yourself a sub. Keep up the great work ❤️
Wait, I just realised this is a whole different channel to your normal one 😮 I subbed lol thanks for the vid :D
I’m so excited that you’re doing my Palworld videos
Thank you so much for this video I went through at least 100 breeding pairs with no avail. I watched this video and no joke after implementing his method the VERY NEXT egg was EXACTLY what I wanted! Dude you are the 💩! Thank you! Great video!
"Youre generating electricity. From over there. Its pretty impressive."
This line has me dying. 😂😂
I enjoyed hearing you talk about this using so much biology terminology, makes it easier to think about this as genetics, not just traits that combine. Also the first video that explained 3 or 4 traits is worse than 1 or 2
As always, incredible information, thank you for doing all that research!
The man of Science and Pure will and determination - Thanks for your time for this information!
Hopefully as they refine the game, they create things we can use to increase chances of wanted traits. Like possibly structures we can build associated with traits
Nice. Informative while staying relatively short. Liked and subbed. Good work
Insane your not monetized most helpful guide channel
breeding is how you get good traits on pals
me: first alpha froststallion catch with perfect traits, breeding is for souls!
Thank you Austin for putting in the time!
Get an Anubis by breeding a Nitehawk and a Rayhound. I tried it and got Anubis 3 times in a row.
Thanks for your time and this video, this was very informative and my playthroughs will definitely benefit from your information.
3:25 - "Get beeguard, mozzarina and chickpi" - false. only get a beeguard and get the merchant that sells eggs, milk and wheat. you can instead have more berry farms and sell surplus berries to buy eggs , milk and wheat. it is far more efficient.
I purposely breed for mercy hit for most of my pals so that they don't accidentally kill the pals Im trying to catch.
Here's a sub, hope it helps. The guys and me have been questioning about the breeding math for Days. Thank you for this.
But it's nice to see the same conclusion proven so I know I am not a mad scientist in my breeding farm says "this SHOULD work right?!" haha
you earned a sub from this mad-lad
Nice job! Thanks for being so efficient in sharing things
The intro alone deserves a like. Keep on gaming, gamer 😁😁😁
Was getting a little frustrated with the breeding. I thought my luck was just crap (it is) so any percentage extra I can squeeze out will help me massively.
Also Subscribed as a thank you for this. Imma see what more stuff you have.
Thank you!
*Its absolutely nuts that this massive game that works 95% of the time is STILL IN ALPHA*
Well if you infuse an artisan Chikipi, you can end up with a super egg layer with all those reject offspring sitting in the box.
work speed doesnt affect ranch performance
New Austin Palworld video. It's a GOOD DAY. All your content is insane buddy, thanks for all you do in the space ❤
The fact that palworld would have only been out for 2 weeks at the making of this video and we already know this much is insane.
Not hating just think its impressive how much people can learn and do this amount of extensive research into something in this short amount of time is awesome. Especially considering the game is still in early access.
God these intros are FIRE! love this and ive been breeding and this is SOOOOO helpful
Austin you're the man, you always make the best guides no matter what game it is. Also loving these intros 😂
