Let me know if you have any other solid movement/mount tips and I'll consider compiling the best ones for a general tips video in the future. Chapters added, time to go into an egg incubator to mentally prepare for making the breeding video.
I like dropping junk,, then letting that floating rabbit thing pick stuff up for me when I make it to my chest. Also, moving the grappling hook to another slot removes the cooldown
A point about multi-grappling - Unequipping the grapple resets its cooldown, so you can easily enough swap off/swap on to instantly reset it. Easiest on console, where you can open your menu, have a pre-positioned equipment in the default slot (top left) press Y / switch weapon, press Y / switch again, exit menu, done. *Only works if your grapple is in your top item slot, as that's what's "quick swapped" when switching from the menu.
Awesome video as always! One thing that I have not seen mentioned anywhere is that if you have direwolf as a mount, you can use the charge attack to get around even if you are completely over encumbered. It’s usually a lot faster than the grapple as you can continue with the spam it. This has helped me a lot with my inefficient base set ups, but your videos will help that as well!
For flying mounts, instead of pressing both forward and space to go diagonally to gain altitude up an incline, you can just use forward and let the cliffside push you up conserve stamina. I did this when I went to the shadow beak tower boss at level 13 with a nitewing, and used this trick a lot to help me navigate up the steep and long inclines to the tower. I did this to catch the boss obviously. Have all of them in a lovely little display case.

1:14 pro tip you don't need 4 grappling guns because you can reset your grappling hook cool down simply by swaping it with another item in either your inventory or even hot select
I love how fast galeclaw is. I personally don’t like hangyu. I’m willing to try it out and for a few days to see how my gameplay changes. Truthfully I use galeclaw as a mobility tool for boss fights/general combat situations. Not as much for travel or exploration. Also I kinda made the bad choice of being stuck with nitewing all the way until I got a suzaku. But that was more of me being stubborn and not wanting a new flyer unless it was super super good.
This helps so much, thank you! Some of this I've suspected from playing and other things I had no idea about. The wiki doesn't always have the beat tips. This is as big as the lifmunk glitch rn.
11:58 this only applies to flying mounts that naturally don't touch the ground. Things like Quivern while it can fly will in fact drown if it runs out of stamina over deep water
This might get overlooked but it helped me a ton. When overencumbered, I summon Direhowl and ride him everywhere. When overencumbered he moves VERY slow as well, but his base attack "Fierce Fang" does a leap forward. You can just spam that over and over again and I think its about as slow as regular running.
This. Great tip for the early-mid game. I started doing this with Rushoar when I was low lvl. Any mount with a "charge" attack is great for moving from the ore deposits back to the fast travel point at desolate church while way over encumbered.😊

Something i think nobody talked about yet is a movement tech with direhowls dash attack, just jump at the right time during the attack and it send you flying similarly fast or faster than slingshotting. you can also extend it by spamming jump
Good data Helzephyr may not be the fastest but I have spent days breeding and maxing out flying mounts for attack and it by far has the highest attack stat. Been doing some experiments with a strange party and running all legendary gear. Felbat - Gobfin - Dazzi - Daedream - and a mount. Felbad is breed for damage, gobfin is breed for boosting my attack while in the party, Dazzi and Dream are providing extra elemental damage, and me doing the bulk work with legendary guns. I have noticed the heal Prock is almost always active, I think daz and dream prock the heal.
I'm currently a ragnahawk fan, though I haven't gotten a jetdragon yet. The ability to go through doors in dungeons is so useful. I also like the fire element damage for my player, though I think beakon with electric damage is more useful overall. I've never seen anyone comment on mount stamina, so that was useful.
My go to movement has been combo of flying at an angle to the highest point, then dismount to galeclaw to land. Let’s me get a good Birds Eye on all surrounding areas, then hone in on where I want to go. I find this gives great horizontal movement as well without having to fuss with the grappling hook or practice specific inputs that may get patched in the future.
Due to the egg glitch, I have discovered that eggs from breeding are set in stone as far as stats and traits but wild caught eggs are random at every hatch while the pal stays the same. Thus you can 'catch' the same pal over and over again as if you were in the wild hunting for traits whilst never leaving your base.
I would love an in depth look at the ground mounts. I Much prefer them to flying mounts. The flyers are usually bigger and just above it all. Even on the ground it's hard to interact with things. The ground mounts let you remain more immersed in the world, the game is more interactive and fun that way. For me at least haha.
Fenglope, upgrade to 1 star for 10% increased speed with minimal investment. (4 stars is 20%) Learn to use double jump, and charge attack jump effectively. Look for or breed into Swift and or Runner, (nimble is fine as well) then if you're obsessive like me tailor to your build with Vanguard or Stronghold Strategist or whatever your build calls for. When you're able to take down Paladius, bench Fenglope, rinse and repeat the above with your new faster, triple jumping ground mount.😊
Been subbed since the starfield vids in august. Hoping that palworld and your dedication to making objectively good videos gets rewarded this time bud!
I’m hoping there’s an expansion for water pals and uses for them. Maybe smaller islands and villages to visit. Both above and below the water. Being able to build boats or rafts to build moving bases would be great too.
It is a trade off, water pals move faster in the water but take up a slot . . . meanwhile flying types can fly across the water but much slower until the final tier of pal monsters.
@@mrthor3061 I think an expansion with water and underwater exploration would help. Make water travel points too far for most fliers. The existing water mounts should definitely get a base speed boost.
@@AZ-697 well don’t forget that the game was much larger until they had to switch from the Unity engine to Unreal Engine. meaning there could have been a whole atlantis but they have to make a whole bunch of assets basically from scratch, there are also A LOT of leaks because of this. i imagine some of the lost content will be re created and some will be re imagined
With the gliders, you need to redeploy it to maintain the better glide slope. Since you can’t immediately undeploy it, you can reload the musket or any other gun to close the glide.
A point where you said you recommend not mounting the pal in a fight cos they can get nuked, there's also the fact they have separate cooldowns so for example that big magma ball by fire types that has a long ass cooldown can be used twice, once mounted and once by themselves which effectively can double dps in some scenarios
Direhowl's special attack move can be used like normal while over encumbered. While most mountable Pals with attacks that move them in a straight line simply do their attack but suuuuuuper slowly (or just in place before the recent patch) Direhowl moves you the regular distance every time and it's off cooldown almost immediately. I only use a Rushoar and Direhowl for mining when I go to do it manually.
Niche trick for flying mounts I discovered is to hold sprint and alternate between W/Space to effectively travel diagonally using the drift while using significantly less stamina compared to holding both at once, probably only works for specific ones.
Nice! I made a (bad) glider video myself just to share with my friends quickly but I totally didn't think to use the Hangyu like that. Some insanely good tips in this video! Water pals definitely need some help lol
about "fly at ground level" : i found that the difference of speed is mush bigger for Ragnahawk, like if it had a mush better ground speed than flying speed, and the difference seams bigger than with other mount. or may-be one of the speed bonus only apply one ground.
The last tip is particularly useful for Eiktherdeer early before you have a flying mount. Its rush attack is just generally nice because it’s got a low enough cooldown that you can use it instead of walking when you need to recharge stamina.
Direwolf with even a 2nd tier speed perk is better in my opinion. Wolves get both a charge and 2 separate RANGED attacks that have good accuracy. They make excellent hit and run pets. Side by side it really depends on what you get first though.
@@WhatWillYouFind eikthdeer feels much better though he’s more bulky, does more dmg, is more versatile movement wise AND can be bred up to the terra variant when you grow out of early game
@@WhatWillYouFind Eiktherdeer is also incredibly useful at camp so if you only have one probably get him, if you only have one of each, leave the deer at camp, but if you have multiple of both I do think the double jump has a lot of value.
As an extra tip: Nitewing is the only flying mount that increases mounted movement speed with star upgrades. So when you're in the early game, aiming for a Nitewing with a movement speed boosting passive and investing at least one star will get big benefits.
You can slingshot vertically by hooking into a wall and cancelling it before touching the wall, you MUST face away from the wall to avoid grabbing it. Another tip that I found, you can trimp up slopes with enough speed.
Would love to see a full video about Pal Breeding. I know it's something you touched on in the video about refined ingot mining, but it would be nice to have a guide on how to breed passive abilities the way you want.
Since you talked up the Hangyu but didn't talk about the star upgrade other than that it didn't increase one's speed. So here is exactly what it does (Hangyu): | 0-star | 1-star | 2-star | 3-star | 4-star | Gravity Scale | 0.1 | 0.009 | 0.008 | 0.007 | 0.006 | Stamina Drain | 10/s | 9/s | 8/s | 7/s | 6/s | Stamina Drain is of course self explanatory. You drain less stamina per second while using your Hangyu. Gravity Scale on the other hand affects how fast one falls. The Galeclaw, Celaray and Killamari also do similar things. Having better Gravity Scaling and Stamina Drain (their numbers are all different from the Hangyu). ONLY the Hangyu, out of all the Glider Pals does not increase movement speed when upgrading stars. Thus the other 3 all have increased movement speed on top of the other benefits for upgrading stars.
11:17 NO, speed passives do NOT affect glider-pal glider performance. Bad misinformation. These things are easy to test: get a 0star version with speed buffs and a 0star version without them, and see how far they'll take you from a fixed started position. Speed passives do NOT increase speed or lift or decrease stamina consumption. The game renders glider-pals as an equippable glider object, and does not reference their passive skills at all.
I haven't seen the passives Swift, Runner, or Nimble working on glider pals. When I got my gale with all 3, I raced a friend with a gale with no passives multiple times and each time we went at the same speed/distance. Both were 0 stars at the time. The only buff I noticed was increasing the star rating.
A good movement tech in the super early game: Sprint and periodically double tap crouch. You'll slide for just a moment, causing you to briefly regen stamina without losing speed. You can effectively sprint indefinitely like this - if you get low, just slide a few times. Since you can net positive on stamina while sprinting, this means you can weave some rolls in there, too.
Regarding maximizing ground travel on flying mounts for your stamina, one other technique you can use is to actually minimize the amount of time you're touching the ground, except via jumping rather than flying. The stamina used for the jump is fixed and relatively low, and you don't drain stamina in the air when not actively burning it. So you can quickly start with a sprint, jump as soon as you reach a decent speed, and then just "glide" off of that small stamina burn and cover way more ground before needing to "walk" to regenerate.
12:01 Not all mounts that can fly can recover over water. Mounts that prefer groynd travel like Frostallion and Shadowbeak will drown if out of stam over water
One way I've been moving resources is by building a processing piece next to the palbox. To move large stacks of stone and wood I use a crusher and cancel the processing into fiber or paldium shards to drop the stack on the spot. Not as good as your grappling gun method but arguably less complicated than the method that will probably get patched.
Fighting while mounted lets you control pal moves and save ammo. Most of the time, Pals will do more damage than your guns anyway so it's better to just fly around and nuke stuff than try to dismount and double team. Of course, for the absolute highest DPS possible you would be buffing player damage to the max with things like the Gobfin's passive and Vanguard, then guns outdamage pals to such a degree that it swings the other way where pal damage no longer matters and once again you should just stay mounted (on Frostallion, because it boosts your damage by A LOT).
What the fuack?! Awesome tips. How do the beginning pals compare to higher level/endgame in terms of damage when both are level 50? As well as abilities worth using and not or if I should only put fire abilities on fire pals, ice on ice etc
You can swap the equiped slot of your grappling hook to reset their timers. Grappling against a wall with your back to it will cause you to bounce off of it allowing you to get some more movement out of it.
u can fast fall on flying mounts by unmounting and remounting mid air, u can clip into mountains by pressing ur face to it throwing a mount inside and then mounting, if you grapple the ground u can bounce to get forward and upward momentum
What 've been doing for long-distance travel (with 0% fail on console) is use the fenglope double jump off a cliff, and then dismount when high in the air. In the air at peak height I'll use the Galeclaw for maximum distance. It's easier for me than the grappling gun and gets a bit more height which is why i use that method
On the topic of flying mounts stamina vs velocity - I find myself mounting almost exclusively to gain height or to start a boss fight. I prefer the faster mounts because they let me get as high as possible as fast as possible so I can dismount and glide spam the rest of the way to my destination
I am torn to be honest if I would like this things to get fixed in future or not, such as the gliding being so OP and the sliding at Mach 5, because at the same time that it is a fun travel mechanic, feels great, is a little skill = speed, it also invalidades many of the mount with the example of the absolute latest game mount and fastest possible thing you can get (jetdragon) struggling to keep up with early/mid game gliders Same way that I am conflicted with the exploit of pulling you pal back to avoid a strong attack and then pushing it out again, it’s very op and trivialize a lot of bosses that only have very telegraphed attacks (which is a good thing) but on the other hand feels like a nice thing to do beyond just spam shooting on the sides, almost like a parry system for pal battles specially considering that they often have cool-downs after those attacks that your pal can put in good pain in after a successful “dodge”
What is that Blue gun you have? The one thing I did to help with moving loads of ore / ingots from mining bases to production base was put a chest right next to the Palbox and the huge container chest allows you to grapple to it from your furnace. Not much of a tip, but that is what I do.
Haven't tried with amy of the gliding pals other than the Galeclaw, but with weapons with long reload, you can start reloading then immediately start gliding for faster movement in combat.
with the gail claw theres some op ways to use it 1. is when your in the air spam space it will keep u up longer 2. reload and spam space while your using it it makes it op af u should try it out if u didn't know
Verdash’s speed boost partner skill also seems to stack with galeclaw. I got a 4* swift/nimble/legend/runner galeclaw that when paired with 2* verdash, clears dungeons significantly faster than any land mount with the same traits. Even though there’s no lift you’ll go insanely far just from sheer speed alone.
I’ve found an easier way to do the slingshot is to change your weapon selection instead of hitting roll. At least on MKB, a scroll wheel tends to be much easier to time tightly than a button press with your pinky. Just scroll when you want to detach and launch and it works the same as cancelling with roll.
Let me know if you have any other solid movement/mount tips and I'll consider compiling the best ones for a general tips video in the future.
Chapters added, time to go into an egg incubator to mentally prepare for making the breeding video.
You can use glider while going off a ledge for easy momentum conservation, but ypu don't gp nearly as fast as when you use a grappling gun

Gravity Scale | 0.1 | 0.009 | 0.008 | 0.007 | 0.006 |
Stamina Drain | 10/s | 9/s | 8/s | 7/s | 6/s |
Stamina Drain is of course self explanatory.
Wonder why he didnt test this
2:30 ur right its been patched.. i never got to take advantage of it sadly
fantastic work!
Just so you know, the grapple trick also works if you initiate a glide during a slide. It's not usable in as many areas, but more speed is more speed.
For the UA-cam Algo gods!!! Thanks for the video
Great video man.
ive seen all of this cuz this guide so good ive watched it more than once
Using the gale claw + any flying mount was my favourite way to exploring the map, you just fly high and just spam the button to glide with gale claw
For the slingshot I find pressing roll + jump at roughly same time but roll first works well, have a borderline flawless consistency with it
u can fast fall on flying mounts by unmounting and remounting mid air, u can clip into mountains by pressing ur face to it throwing a mount inside and then mounting, if you grapple the ground u can bounce to get forward and upward momentum
What 've been doing for long-distance travel (with 0% fail on console) is use the fenglope double jump off a cliff, and then dismount when high in the air. In the air at peak height I'll use the Galeclaw for maximum distance. It's easier for me than the grappling gun and gets a bit more height which is why i use that method
your content is amazing thanks for the effort
Are you sure swift and runner affect gliders? I did a very casual test and couldn't notice a difference and posts I've seen online say they don't.
You can press C on your pal box thingy to fast travel. I didn't find this out until I was level 24
i love the science in these videos
1:11 btw u can un-equip the grabble gun and re-equip it to reset its cooldown
Great guide
Damn, the tips in this vid are nuts
On the topic of flying mounts stamina vs velocity - I find myself mounting almost exclusively to gain height or to start a boss fight. I prefer the faster mounts because they let me get as high as possible as fast as possible so I can dismount and glide spam the rest of the way to my destination
Here before this vid blows up
(Thanks for the vids too bro they’ve helped me a lot)
I am torn to be honest if I would like this things to get fixed in future or not, such as the gliding being so OP and the sliding at Mach 5, because at the same time that it is a fun travel mechanic, feels great, is a little skill = speed, it also invalidades many of the mount with the example of the absolute latest game mount and fastest possible thing you can get (jetdragon) struggling to keep up with early/mid game gliders
Same way that I am conflicted with the exploit of pulling you pal back to avoid a strong attack and then pushing it out again, it’s very op and trivialize a lot of bosses that only have very telegraphed attacks (which is a good thing) but on the other hand feels like a nice thing to do beyond just spam shooting on the sides, almost like a parry system for pal battles specially considering that they often have cool-downs after those attacks that your pal can put in good pain in after a successful “dodge”
What is that Blue gun you have? The one thing I did to help with moving loads of ore / ingots from mining bases to production base was put a chest right next to the Palbox and the huge container chest allows you to grapple to it from your furnace. Not much of a tip, but that is what I do.
super helpful video tysm
Thanks, master
You're the pal god bro
Great video
