Question for the pros... I used to detail professionaly half a lifetime ago, so never got to use ceramic. Do you have to compound the entire car the next time it comes in to remove the ceramic and reapply? / how long till you have to reapply?
Kuria Kinyanjui right? For me I don’t think it would need to be re apply for at least 4-5 years depending on how the car is kept and maintained. At this point I would just garage the Benz and cover it.
Kuria Kinyanjui It would depend on how the coating is performing. If the coating is still hydrophobic and looks good there is no reason to reapply. Some coatings can last up to 10 years. If you had to remove an old coating off of your vehicle you would have to buff it off completely before reapplying. Sometimes all a ceramic coating requires to look good and perform well again is decontamination and a light polish. Every car is different!
I had no idea what ceramic coating was to be honest. My friend mentioned that I should consider trying it out for my Audi. I found this video very interesting. I really love designer cars. this is so cool. I found a great service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin called Detail Doctors. They did an absolutely phenomenal job on my car. That's all well and good for a normal wash, but it just doesn't apply here. What'ever tiny fractional imperfections they make due to "poor" washing, they will polish away regardless. For a normal maintenance wash where there is no treatment after, then yes. That would probably be fine, ish... Finalize it with some tire dressing. That looks pretty amazing bro. I detailed for about 13 years and you're right about the OCD. What I loved the most is the outcome. I really enjoy making things look better. Especially Mercedes. I love Mercedes.
Paint correction is an enjoyable hobby. It becomes a money pit of pads, compounds, microfibers cloth, lights, backing plates, and time. What you accomplish and the transformation to paint, especially old paint, is amazing. It's a great feeling once you're done and the paint looks better than when it left the dealership. I've never tried the ceramic coating and don't want to. New hobby is MTB and performance mods.
Excellent video and narration. I can’t help but laugh when people talk about it being a waste of money to put more money in a car than it’s “worth”. A paid off car is worth more to the owner and you want to keep it looking great as well as running great. A paid off car in great condition is always worth more than a new car. Well done man, looks great!
This paint correction is really amazing, no doubt. But AMMO has a video of his Porsche 911 being repainted so professionally that it would have cost a walk-in customer around $30k to recreate. It's a real fun/educational watch.
That is the work that many people do not see, customers think that one wants to take the money out of their pocket but it is not like that, we car detailing know why we charge and we know what work we are going to do
Just did my 2006 gxp min restoration . Did some minor body work and touch up and blend rubbed out and hand compounded polished and applied coating 👍looks new . As a young teen I worked at a gm dealership doing all the used cars as well as body and paint touch ups and paint restoration . I worked at the dealership 10 years till a graduated in electronics, but still kept up on both body ,paint welding and mechanical and obd2
I'm so happy for you, Alex! The E55 looks absolutely amazing with that detailing work! Great pride definitely shows in their work. Definitely professionals. I really enjoyed watching and learning about the process to do that type of work. Keep up the good work with your channel!
What a fantastic video and the enthusiasm and professionality shows. I know how OCD some of these people must be, but the result.... man... unreal!! This car is 15 years old, but looks like it just came out of the show room. Big thumbs up, thanks for your effort to make these guys look great and all the hours of filming that went in this.
Getting my Obsidian Black BMW F31 LCI paint corrected and ceramic coated in about a week, seeing how you car turned out makes me really excited! Funfact, i thought my BMW was just regular gloss black, untill i showed it to guy who's going to detail it. That shows just how much a dull/hazy clear coat can hide (gonna add to the fact it's been bad weather and a lot dirty roads since i bought the car) :D
I did something sort of similar to my Mustang several years ago, except I did all the work myself. I spent a couple of days, washed it twice with two different "high end" car wash compounds, then clayed it really well, then polished it with a "high end" cleaner wax, then a second polish with a final hard shell wax. I had just had a full set of BF Goodrich T/A tires on it. I polished the rims with Mother's Mag polish until they looked like mirrors. I ArmorAll'ed all the plastic inside and out. I cleaned the full interior, the seats and carpets, with upholstery cleaner, I even cleaned inside the trunk. It was a lot of work, but oh man, my car looked better than when it was new. The next day I was driving it through town and an old lady ran through a stop sign and totaled it.
Well that's a real bummer and sorry to hear that happened to you. They say when you wash your car, it will rain right afterwards. Don't ask. You know who "they" are!
I'm a classic restoration painter and my show cars get 5 coats of clear. I start with 800 grit and i work my way up to 3000. Then buff and polish. It takes 2 weeks especially for black cars. That's 80 hours at $100 an hour and I hate every second of it.
Great question! I like restoring cars but I hate to cut & buff. It's just part of the job and it's gotta get done that's life I guess. I'd rather fabricate and assemble most of the time.
80 hours sounds like a long time. I guess it depends on the vehicle though. I usually figure 30-40 and of course that depends on what I start with. Some are only worth of 1500 on da followed by 3000 on da.
They did not sow 1/2 of what they did. Glass, underbody, engine, paint chips--15-yrs old-- but they're dozens, however slight. Did they comp some of the 3K for your enthusiastic promotion?
As always im sure the camera doesn't do the paint justice, whenever I do my own paint correction. Its so hard to document the difference. you have to see it with you own eyes. Car is looking awesome man!!!!
Alec I’m lucky if I get 45 minutes after I’m done, and it’s usually just a 10 minute downpour. Then I’m out there with a microfiber drying towel to dry it again. Usually the next morning it’s wet again from overnight rain🤦🏻♂️😢
“And we saw this woman fucking a horse... and it’s not as a great as you thought it would be. It's kinda gross. It was really givin' it to her. To be honest, we all just felt bad for her... kinda felt bad for the horse.”
mrn4s its a massive rip off. $3000 for paint correction 😱😱🤣🤣🤣? That’s the most expensive paint correction I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve been involved in detailing classic cars in the UK for 15 years. It’s expensive even by UK standards.
Here is the breakdown: Level 4 paint correction/coating prep $1,100 (16 -20 hours of labor) Paintless dent removal $375 Modesta Full Exterior package - $1995 Includes- Ceramic coating on all painted surface including door jambs BC06 high-temperature coating on wheels (removal if necessary) Glassparnecy 3 year windshield coating An exterior plastic trim coating on all plastics A Ceramic coating is not for everyone, this coating package is our top of the line coating package, It’s for people who want the thickest, most durable, glossiest coating on the market. With that being said we have a coating for every budget. I made a 5 video series explaining everything you need to know about coatings, Go check them out on our channel.

Incredible If your getting all the Dents, scratches out, etc, especially on a Black Car, the Price is well worth it. The Car comes out better than the Showroom. Great Job.
Long hair with spinning machinery don't mix. I was holding my breathe in some of those scenes. But wow, that car looks brand new, better than brand new. Great job guys!!!
Patrick94GSR idk man that paint job alone looked like a million bucks. Was a great job by the painters. And if I’m not mistaken it was a custom shade too? The amount of detail taken when they polished it was nutz too. Concourse level shine! But maybe easy 30k job
Patrick94GSR look up AMMO NYC, He's a car detalier youtuber that got an older 911 that he completely restored and got a $70,000 paint job that's completely flawless.
Yea this is a rip-off I do the same exact job for a $100 bucks. I Clay bar and buff the entire car and do a full detail. I use Greots garage chemicals and Eagle one detailer on the inside.
A 3k paint job means they just tape around lights and door jams and slap on a few cheap coats of paint. A proper professional paint job will cost more than 3k
It doesn’t really matter because at this point he increased the value of his car and if it’s well taken care of mechanically he can sell it for a good price or make the car last longer and be a lot more pleasing to drive. Instead of buying a new car now he has something that looks and feels like a new car. Having a makeover like that on any car can be difference from you being in debt 60k OR just spend 3k.
Yes, but an AMG holds it’s value and may start going up. My friend spent $50,000 over 20 years maintaining his1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL, only $2500/year. That included major work such as re-engining and a remanufactured transmission. Now he has a collectible which looks new. A high-quality car is always worth putting money into if you hang onto it, ESPECIALLY true for AMG versions.
Considering that car has 15yrs of wear on it, I think Chicago Auto Pros did a remarkable job. The _after_ footage make the car look like a computer generated image.
I can do this with a DA polisher easy. I have done it before and it does take a little trial and error but you get the hang and it's easy. (Working on getting ceramic coating)
Cars are so simple to detail compared to my job detailing Yachts its a whole other ballgame, plus the cheapest boat I've ever detailed was 75k but most are $500,000 and up.
Bloody Awsome work from those guys at Chicago Auto Pro. I've been looking around for a "Bloody Great" polish and care product for my Harley (Black) and I'll be looking closer at this product in the future. Well done guys.
Still funny to me that UK spells tires "tyres." It just looks offputting. Theres a few other words spelled differently, that I cant think of right now, but tyres always gives me a chuckle. Cheers (:
Worth it for the right car! But I think on my 2011 Kia Rio it’d be kinda nuts😂! So how do you take care of this after the fact? Do you take it back to them or can you wash and wax it normally? Thanks for a great video!
Chuck Iringtwice there are some special measures which must be taken with a ceramic coated video. Basically you don’t want to mix ceramic coated cars with traditional waxes and sealants and the like. By using products specifically designed to work with ceramics you get the best results, best longevity and the most gloss out of your coating. A really simple way to maintain the coating would be to wash the vehicle with a two bucket method using Fireball Hydrophobic Shampoo which fills in the ceramic coating and adds extra gloss and hydrophobicity getting the coating like new again. This also means you will never have to wax post wash again. If you use it once a fortnite you could have your coating last much longer than just 10 years since you’re adding another sacrificial layer. There are of course many other products that do the same thing but I like the fireball shampoo since it’s easy to get locally and has great value for money since it’s super concentrated. It’s also good for non coated vehicles as an alternative to a wash and wax. You also have spray silicone sealants like silex which would only need applying every 3-4 months if you’d prefer.
Ahhh HAA! I’m not the only Detailer who loses his sh#t when youtubers swing their heads around saying how “good” the paint looks when you see it swirled out in the sun!!
I paid $1000 Australian for a professional detailer for correction & ceramic coating on a very chalky white Ford Falcon that was 17 years old. The detailer uses CarPro & I also maintain my cars with CarPro products which I find easy to use with consistently excellent results. The results from the ceramic coating were exceptional and most surprising is that over a year later, the car still looks very good and is easy to maintain. On the use of ceramic coating in the automotive industry, I recently had a dual exhaust system made for one of my V8 Falcons and had the extractors ceramic coated. The engine bay temperature is 30% less than the factory which makes everything work easier and last longer, especially these days with the amount of plastic in engine bays, hoses with turbo chargers etc.

Finalize it with some tire dressing. That looks pretty amazing bro. I detailed for about 13 years and you're right about the OCD. What I loved the most is the outcome. I really enjoy making things look better. Especially Mercedes. I love Mercedes.
Grady Lester what’s a cheaper way to remove swirl marks i drive a black vehicle, jus a good wax buffing ?
There’s only so much clear! Mike Phillips told Me that lots of times. I’m sure they were careful. What a transformation.
The 2005 through 2007 E series style holds up well in 2020. Beautiful car and great job on the paint restoration
This is awesome. Dude your channel is my favorite. I always look forward to new videos. I learn so much from you. Thank you!
After the ceramic coating she looks amazing !!! Can’t wait to get my e55
Best detailers on the north shore. Love ❤️Chicago Auto Pros.
Can't wait to show the new flat bottom steering wheel!
LegitStreetCars yessssss!
hell yeah,i cant wait as well!!
Nooo way???😱😱😱! That’s awsome dude. Glad u got one, I no they can be expensive
EXCELLENT work chicago auto pros and Dennis does dents!!!!👌👍
Mr Sparkle thank you!
This is the highest level of car detailing I have ever seen. True professionals.
Jimmy hines check topaz detailing enzo they did
Lol Then you haven’t seen nothing yet lol
This paint correction is really amazing, no doubt. But AMMO has a video of his Porsche 911 being repainted so professionally that it would have cost a walk-in customer around $30k to recreate. It's a real fun/educational watch.
Then this is probably the first detailing video you've ever seen, other detailers on youtube put these guys to shame
Very nice
Tt44
The car looks amazing. The ceramic coating is worth the time and money when you get that type of result.
great video, as a detailer I find it hard to find videos are actually correct however this is flawless. Great one
No way!! That blows man. Hope everyone was ok
Alex
Well that's a real bummer and sorry to hear that happened to you. They say when you wash your car, it will rain right afterwards. Don't ask. You know who "they" are!
I'm a classic restoration painter and my show cars get 5 coats of clear. I start with 800 grit and i work my way up to 3000. Then buff and polish. It takes 2 weeks especially for black cars. That's 80 hours at $100 an hour and I hate every second of it.
Why spend most of your life doing something that you hate so much?
Great question! I like restoring cars but I hate to cut & buff. It's just part of the job and it's gotta get done that's life I guess. I'd rather fabricate and assemble most of the time.
80 hours sounds like a long time. I guess it depends on the vehicle though. I usually figure 30-40 and of course that depends on what I start with. Some are only worth of 1500 on da followed by 3000 on da.
800 grit wtf ! 800grit is for wet flat primer not top coat ! start with 1200 max , 1500 , 2000 .. doh !
@@maxs6775 he should be thankful now that you have enlightened him. Good job!
$3,000 dollar paint correction but they didn’t bother to put tire shine at least🤦🏽♂️
Haha I noticed it too. Great job on the paint but I would have put some gel on those tires xP
You said it yourself, it's a paint correction, not a tire shine correction.
They did not sow 1/2 of what they did. Glass, underbody, engine, paint chips--15-yrs old-- but they're dozens, however slight.
Did they comp some of the 3K for your enthusiastic promotion?
It's a paint correction. Not a detail job.
Thats been debunked tire shine does not hurt tires
Those people are possible the best in the world on car details. If I lived in that neck of the words, I'd take my MB on a heartbeat!
I had a similar detailing, paint correction and ceramic coating, done to my all-black 370Z. It was totally worth it to me.
As always im sure the camera doesn't do the paint justice, whenever I do my own paint correction. Its so hard to document the difference. you have to see it with you own eyes. Car is looking awesome man!!!!
“*rains the next day*
Alec story of my life lol
It’s coated so if it does, he’s all good👍🏼
Alec I’m lucky if I get 45 minutes after I’m done, and it’s usually just a 10 minute downpour. Then I’m out there with a microfiber drying towel to dry it again. Usually the next morning it’s wet again from overnight rain🤦🏻♂️😢
@@armeltheone1 Just check the weather before washing mate
Your E55 is beautiful 😍 I can’t wait to get mine!
Oh man! I love your car!! I had a 2008 E350 4Matic AWD back in 2017. I was in an accident!!! I miss mine, but I love yours much better!!!!!!
Dude!! Do that awesome Benz right after all that amazing EXPENSIVE paint correction and get those windows TINTED!
Congrats on your brand new car.
Such a beautiful ride. Keep up the good work!
You guys are good this is showing off choosing a black car for the rest of the world black is the toughest this is the some fine work
The paint looks gorgeous, no swirls and no holograms
I detailed cars for 50 years in NZ & Australia, the standout product was the clay bar,I was stunned when it was demonstrated to me!
alot of detailers love that thick w211 amg paint very few cars can look that good at that age.
Tim Kovalick My detailer loved my 89 BMW 535i for that reason. It has 190k on it all original paint. It must be a German car thing.
Compare it to the new mb standard black which is orange peel from factory.
Acura mdx looks equally good 15 years later....
The Cleanest paint job and correction I’ve ever seen. Absolutely Amazing and a well done Job. Learnt something new.
3k would get me an equivalent quality paint job in Tijuana (I'm in L.A.) with $2,200 leftover to spend on "ladies", tacos, and, tequila.
smithraymond09029 and donkey shows. Dont forget the donkey shows.
“And we saw this woman fucking a horse... and it’s not as a great as you thought it would be. It's kinda gross. It was really givin' it to her. To be honest, we all just felt bad for her... kinda felt bad for the horse.”
Uh, no, it would not be "equivalent' for $800.
smithraymond09029 an $800 paint job would not even come close. Probably wouldn’t even have clear coat.
Unless the painter is very skilled it will have orange peel which needs to be wet sanded and even more compounding than was done on this car
Man that shine is smexy. Even after just the clay bar.
Love Jason and Chicago Auto Pros, you picked a great team to work on your car!
Paint correction looks awesome!!
Incredible results, true Craftsmen. Money well spent.
mrn4s its a massive rip off. $3000 for paint correction 😱😱🤣🤣🤣? That’s the most expensive paint correction I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve been involved in detailing classic cars in the UK for 15 years. It’s expensive even by UK standards.
Here is the breakdown:
Level 4 paint correction/coating prep $1,100 (16 -20 hours of labor)
Paintless dent removal $375
Modesta Full Exterior package - $1995
Includes- Ceramic coating on all painted surface including door jambs
BC06 high-temperature coating on wheels (removal if necessary)
Glassparnecy 3 year windshield coating
An exterior plastic trim coating on all plastics
A Ceramic coating is not for everyone, this coating package is our top of the line coating package, It’s for people who want the thickest, most durable, glossiest coating on the market. With that being said we have a coating for every budget. I made a 5 video series explaining everything you need to know about coatings, Go check them out on our channel.
Well! That was entertaining, and of course informative. I've been thinking about ceramic coating. This opened my eyes, a lot. Thanks!
Chicago Auto Pros did a great job! Nice video.
Nick you do such a great job explaining every detail. I have been so busy working i didnt know you had this channel. You should be proud and i am now subscribed. All these years that we have been friends you have been so awesome at helping everyone. Keep up the great work Nick! Your friendship and guidance is always greatly appreciated!
Amazing so much you can do with clear coat
Pro: we typically work in a grid making 5 passes
You: oh 5 passes? ok yeah 5 passes, got it i'll make 5 passes
Pro: Ok go ahead...
You: *makes 9 passes*
Incredible
If your getting all the Dents, scratches out, etc, especially on a Black Car, the Price is well worth it. The Car comes out better than the Showroom.
Great Job.
Looks very classy without dark tint
Long hair with spinning machinery don't mix. I was holding my breathe in some of those scenes. But wow, that car looks brand new, better than brand new. Great job guys!!!
Great job on the paint correct..just wish they glossed the tires😕😕😕😕
Man this brings me back to a certain detailing UA-camr that got a $70000 black paint job on his older Porsche.
Where did you come up with that number?
Larry didn't pay that much wtf lmaooo that's close to the price he paid for his dream R8
Yeah that Porsche's paint and body work with full body PPF was probably more like $20K - $25K
One thing about Mercedes and BMW,, They do put a good amount of paint on their cars from the factory.
Beautiful work. Brake dust is definitely the #1 contaminant
2 legends of the same era in the same room.. e39 and w211 👑
11:36 "oh, the camera is rolling..." *must pretend I'm doing something*
😂😂 nice spot
for $3,000 you can get a brand new high quality paint job where I'm from LOL
You must be very proud of yourself.
Yea this is a rip-off I do the same exact job for a $100 bucks. I Clay bar and buff the entire car and do a full detail. I use Greots garage chemicals and Eagle one detailer on the inside.
@Tammy Forbes You're short selling yourself. $100 for a full detailing job is slave wages.
@LotusLambo more like the guys who own detailing shops love cars so they dont settle for shitty cars and invest in something nice
A 3k paint job means they just tape around lights and door jams and slap on a few cheap coats of paint. A proper professional paint job will cost more than 3k
3 grand for a 4500$ car
It doesn’t really matter because at this point he increased the value of his car and if it’s well taken care of mechanically he can sell it for a good price or make the car last longer and be a lot more pleasing to drive. Instead of buying a new car now he has something that looks and feels like a new car. Having a makeover like that on any car can be difference from you being in debt 60k OR just spend 3k.
Gaming Pro well it does matter increasing the cars value by just a little bit is not worth spending 3 grand
Dont matter it's not money he needs he just wants his car to look nice
Bmw M3 e46 that’s not the only point I made though
Yes, but an AMG holds it’s value and may start going up. My friend spent $50,000 over 20 years maintaining his1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL, only $2500/year. That included major work such as re-engining and a remanufactured transmission. Now he has a collectible which looks new. A high-quality car is always worth putting money into if you hang onto it, ESPECIALLY true for AMG versions.
Considering that car has 15yrs of wear on it, I think Chicago Auto Pros did a remarkable job. The _after_ footage make the car look like a computer generated image.
What a beauty of the machine you have got, I saw the E39 M5 as well great car @ 2:56
New flat bottom steering wheel video is out! So Perfect! ua-cam.com/video/g19byPFoP4w/v-deo.html
I can do this with a DA polisher easy. I have done it before and it does take a little trial and error but you get the hang and it's easy. (Working on getting ceramic coating)
Time to pick up some TopCoat F11 and further protect that sexy beast.
i'll give you 5 for it.
Why he dosent have more subs, idk, I’m subbed and belled up! You should 2
The "special" tool that measures the clear coat thickness is actually reading overall filmbuild correct? Not just the thickness of the clear?
Much better than a repaint..... VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the video!
The young man who sounds Ukrainian seems like a very nice young man. Good job guys, and as usual, love the channel Alex!!
An excellent opportunity to work together
Hard work supports hard work
Cars are so simple to detail compared to my job detailing Yachts its a whole other ballgame, plus the cheapest boat I've ever detailed was 75k but most are $500,000 and up.
I have. A e class what a job these guys done pure professionalism
Bloody Awsome work from those guys at Chicago Auto Pro. I've been looking around for a "Bloody Great" polish and care product for my Harley (Black) and I'll be looking closer at this product in the future. Well done guys.
For 3000$ Id want my tyres to shine...
Still funny to me that UK spells tires "tyres."
It just looks offputting. Theres a few other words spelled differently, that I cant think of right now, but tyres always gives me a chuckle.
Cheers (:
A fine example! 👌
Keith Anderson “if you use it once a FORTNITE” tf does fortnite has to do with this lmao
you got me there
Keith Anderson dumbass
Keith Anderson/thanks for the info!
The end result is like RTX Ray Tracing turned on! Fantastic work!
I spent 6 hours correcting my 17 year old trucks paint and it looks amazing.
Ahhh HAA! I’m not the only Detailer who loses his sh#t when youtubers swing their heads around saying how “good” the paint looks when you see it swirled out in the sun!!
HEY GUYS ITS CHRIS FIX , ALMOST THE SAME VOICE LMAO
It's awesome 👍
Hey I like your channel I'm always watching it even when I was going through hard times in my life it always kept me focus and
I paid $1000 Australian for a professional detailer for correction & ceramic coating on a very chalky white Ford Falcon that was 17 years old.
