  • Hey Cruisers,
It's time for another port day on our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. It is Osaka Japan day on our 12 night cruise. During this cruise we'll cover 2800 nautical miles and visit Tokyo, Shimizu, Osaka, Taipei (Keelung), Hong Kong, Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam, and Singapore.
Once again we start off this cruise vlog bright and early. Jet lag still has us up before dawn. We had the beautiful Atrium and the Lobby bar essentially all to ourselves for morning coffee. After that we were off to meet Moe, our guide for Osaka (we booked through triplelights.com). Our primary goal for the day was to visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine. After some brief introductions, we were off on a whirlwind of trains, tickets, and walking. Once in Kyoto, it was a short walk to the Fushimi Inari Shrine. There are lots of charming little shops and vendors along the way. The walk is crowded, but pleasant. After arriving at the shrine, Moe kept us informed and entertained. You'll see me doing things like the water purification ritual, and making a wish. It was all fascinating and fun. Next we were off to explore the seemingly endless torii gates. It does get extremely crowded (and a bit noisy), but everyone was polite, and friendly. After Fushimi Inari we hop back on another train, and head to the Yasaka Shrine in the Gion District of Kyoto. Then we head out on foot for lunch. We stop at a nice little place, and you'll get a good look at our lunch selections. Our next stop is Osaka station, and a visit to Pokémon Center. Our son had a ball there, but be warned, the checkout lines are super long. Our final stop before heading back to the ship was Shinsekai area. We had a great time just walking around and exploring. Today was another great day on our Princess Cruises voyage to Asia. Thanks for joining us for this cruise vlog as we travel to Japan for our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. We've got much more Asia cruise adventures ahead. We'll have some Asia cruise tips, more cruise vlogs from Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Hello, I really, really love your videos and comments. Before viewing your adventures we sorta winged it. Now I am hooked based on the wonderful tips and information we receive from your adventures! We have 3 booked for this year based on your experiences. You always have on the cutest bathing suit covers and off the should dresses, I would love to know where you get those items. My husband and I are also from Southern California and just book on the MSC Seaside based on your experiences!

Japan is an incredible place, but even more so in the twilight hours. As the sun sets behind the skyline and the lights come on, people leaving work and heading to their local izakaya for a bite to eat, it's just truly magical.

Loved the vid, Osaka is so wonderful. My favorite city in Kansai is Naram it is very close to Osaka. I've lived in Osaka for 6 months in 2010 and how I miss it.

Loved this episode. Your son skipping along having a blast.
I've been to Osaka and Kyoto. Some unbelievable railway stations there. You needed your guide to navigate, for sure! So much to see. I had no clue about temple protocol when I was there.
One of the highlights of my life in Kyoto. Doing the Philosopher's Walk in cherry blossom time, holding my wife's hand, Just the two of us alone with that incredible beauty. And about half the population of Japan. Crowded but beautiful.
I haven't scrolled through all your episodes but I wonder if you ever got back to Japan?
Enjoying your presentation style. Hats off to your hubby for superb camera work and editing. It can't be easy having to walk and film and keep an eye on the surroundings in a foreign land full of surprises. I kept on wondering if your son would skip off out of shot and get lost. Looks like a good kid, part of a team.
