Thank you for watching! Japan is an amazing and beautiful place. We have newer videos about Kyoto and there are other videos about Japan as well. Please check it out. 🙏😊
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it and found it helpful. We have a very recent Kyoto upload based on a recent trip, and it’s more of a chill vibe. Hope you’ll have the time to watch it, too!
Excellent video once again! I have been to Kyoto thrice before, solo and with different company each time, but I still long to go back, to the same places I love that you featured here (Uji and Arashiyama, among others). Ryoan-ji and Ginkaku-ji I keep going back to, as well- so peaceful and beautiful! Kyoto just hushes and fills my soul! Thank you for bringing me back to one of my absolute favorite places to visit!
I’m glad you liked the video! It’s always nice to be reminded of unforgettable places and positive experiences. I thought Uji has similarities with Arashiyama without the bamboo forest and the insane crowds!
Beautifully done. Amazing videography and photography. The explanations made it even more interesting. I need to go back to Kyoto and explore the places on this video.
Wow. Congrats! You nailed it with this video. I followed your itinerary in Central Japan( shirakawago, tsumago, shinhotaka, etc). I think I will go to these places too when Osaka-Kyoto trip comes.
Thank you so much! Croatia looks beautiful, would love to travel there in the near future! If you haven’t already, kindly check out our other videos and would appreciate your subscription as well! :-)
I haven’t visited Japan in the summer, apparently it’s incredibly hot! About Doshisha though… someone mentioned it but I hadn’t really heard anything about it.
@@travjournal throughout the country, temperatures are well over 30 C and the humidity is unbearable. Doshisha cemetery is at the top of a hill in Eastern Kyoto. It has the graves of Doshisha University as well as those of its founder, Joseph Hardy Nesima and his wife, Yae.
Very nice video. I want to visit Kyoto just to see the Tachibana SHS band perform lol. Love their energy and enthusiasm. Not sure if I would like to see the sights with the large crowds though. Was nice to see the cherry blossoms
Thank you! The crowds are inevitable in Kyoto’s main spots, unfortunately. I guess seeing the less familiar attractions would be best. Or going there like really early in the morning or around closing time. That’s why for this trip, I really liked spending a few days Wakayama because it wasn’t insane. 😁
Hi! Thanks for the great video. You mentioned that you traveled from Kyoto to the Osaka Airport. Can you let me know what is the fastest way to get there and how far in advance do you have to arrive with only carry on luggage?
Hi! To Kansai Airport, there is a direct train from Kyoto Station called Haruka Express. It makes a few stops along the way including stations in Osaka, but getting to the airport takes less than or around 1.5 hours. The train runs pretty much regularly, you just need to check the schedule. There shouldn’t be any issues with luggage.
Thank you so much! Have not seen Uji mentioned in any travel guide...and it looks beautiful. Will definitely take a side trip in October. Will be going to Koyasan and Engyoji Temple complexes too. Love your video!
Thanks for watching! I enjoyed Uji, the walk around the river is nice so it can be a relaxing couple of hours. And it’s accessible to Nara and Fushimi Inari, too. Koyasan is lovely but I haven’t been to Himeji though. That temple sounds awesome! PS - I also have a video on Koyasan, I hope you’ll check it out. :-) Thank you! 🙏
I wanting to visit Higashiyama for the Yasaka Pagoda, Kiyomizu-dera and yasaka srhine in evening and Gion. Could they all be done in one arvo/evening? On your Day 1 what time did you start?
Hi! Yes, these areas can be done in one everning but Kiyomizu-dera closes at 5 or 6pm. The Yasakas are lit up in the evening, but many shops close early too. Gion is definitely happening in the evening, but there are now strict rules if you visit Hanamikoji - due to abusive and annoying tourists that cause disturbances and harassing maikos and geikos. Nice restos though on the other side of Gion.
my only minus point for Kyoto is that most temples close around 5pm, while 99% of for example Tokyo temples are permanently open. This kinda threw me off on my first day and kind of ruined my planning.
I quite agree! As I was entering Kiyomizudera they were announcing that it was about to close so it was a frantic visit too. As far as I know Yasaka Shrine and Fushimi Inari are open except for the offices. My main issue which is common in Japan is that the coffee shops open later than usual - hard to get decent coffee early unless you’re getting it from the hotel or you’re fine with konbini or vendo coffee.
@@travjournalI do remember for example Fushimi Inari shrine to be open all day long and there's a few temples that are clearly visible and even open to the public near the Gion district. One had very nice lanterns at night and it was very relaxing to just walk around and snap pics, vids and just take it in
I do agree. I was on Kyoto 2 weeks ago. It was so hot to go out during the day. However, at 5-6pm when it was cooler little bit, most of attractions closed.
@travjournal what time did you get to Kiyomizu-dera?. What time did you arrive at Bamboo Grove? Was it weekend or weekday? I'm planning to go at 8am on a Saturday Also hoping to see Yasaka shrine at night?
hmmm,... near Yasaka Shrine is the Kanji Museum,... if you speak Japanese it's really fun and they give lots of free stuff on the second floor. I would also hike up to Doshisha Cemetery ... it's beautiful and definitely no foreign tourists !
Thanks for this tip! We love finding out other places outside the usual spots! I don’t speak Japanese (though I tried lol) but the free stuff in the Kanji museum sounds fun.
@@travjournal watching kabuki at Minamiza in Kawaramachi is also really fun but, um, there is no English language ... Doshisha Cemetery is really great if you Japan history ... it has the graves of Joseph Hardy Neesima and his incredible wife Yae.
@@towada1066 Ah, a Kabuki performance is on the bucketlist! I am getting curious about the Doshisha cemetery, I haven't heard of it before. But it should be worth checking out!
@@travjournal Doshisha Cemetery is really interesting to me because it has the graves of Josephy Hardy Neesima and his fantastic wife Yae .... Meiji Era people were incredible ... some family grave stones here have Christian symbols but also family crest.
@@towada1066 Yes, I did notice the crosses in the tombstones. Should be interesting to check out other religious aspects in Japan, though they're the minority!
