I think perhaps Roger tried to take all the blame for the murder he committed on behalf of Bob because he was thinking of his twin nieces, from whom he'd taken their mother. Perhaps the guilt and trauma of destroying another human being at close quarters, a person in his family who he'd known for years, overwhelmed Roger and he thought his nieces deserved to have their sole surviving parent be around to care for them instead of jail...certainly Roger's release from jail was a very determined act of someone who was mentally unwell.
All three males of the family seemed abnormal... Bob's Dad cutting him off because of disapproval of a gf shows that manipulation, vindictiveness and avarice was hardwired into their DNA, born out by Bob arguably preying upon a vulnerable and unhappy woman who made a terrible mistake in believing he loved her... He offered naught but a gilded cage and had no qualms about killing her once he felt emasculated.
I really hope Doris' daughters have had a better life than their poor Mom.

    Good morning, Dr. Grande!
    Ahh, families!
    No wonder Bob fired Roger!
And Bob DID conspire with his brother to murder Doris, providing him with all the information necessary to disable the security system and the information that Doris would be alone in the home at the time.
Unless one of Bob's enemies got a hold of Roger and somehow got all of that information that would allow for a successful murder, but Roger screwed that up, too.
At any rate, Bob was able to get rid of his troublesome wife and incompetent brother.
Nice use of gambling parlance at you summary.
    Thanks for sharing.

Couldn't Roger writing the note that exonerated his brother have been some kind of plant? Its difficult sat without knowing more but people get murdered in prison all the time and Bob is bound to know some folks there who might own him favours (not the folks he sent up the river obviously), but its plausible.

    • @hollyw9566
      @hollyw9566 Рік тому +5

I agree. And the fact that Roger was in Texas and not in Cali where he was supposed to be in court, and had guns in his luggage, no less, is suggestive that he was up to no good. I doubt Roger was bright enough to put together a plan to set Bob up. Much more likely the other way around. I don't like that coincidence of Bob sending her home to get a bat just at the right time to surprise a burglar in their weirdly de-alarmed house.

If it was not a plant we have to assume that Bob was innocent because if not we have to assume that the brother for some reason falsify the recordings just as he said but decided to lie and exonerate Bob. Makes no sense. Right know and until new evidence is presented I will said the system worked as expected there is almost no evidence to condem Bob.

If he could snitch on a friend who helped him out for many years just to get more power and wealth for himself, it's hard to see where he would draw the line for hurting people he believed got in his way.

Roger and Doris ended up being huge threats to Bob. Doris should have never been so greedy; she was always about more $$$. it was true that she couldn't get away with her interests, ... as her life came to a sudden end. Bob even threw a huge over the top extravagant 40th b'day party for Doris, which she couldn't appreciate. Bob valued and appreciated Doris, though $$$ was all she wanted.

"odd" that a person committing suicide would leave a note exonerating his BROTHER, if the brother was guilty? sometimes, often, I think Dr. G was raised by a robot. I imagine that imminent death, especially suicide, can clarify one's thinking. if you were going to die, would you rather have revenge on your brother, on a former friend, or else have them remember you with gratitude? and Roger had just experienced what prison is like too, so that he might not wish it on even his most hated enemy. of course, the answer would be different for each of us, but the one we chose would say something very deep about our deepest natures.

She had it all but had to complain about her husband not being emotional enough? :/ Knowing what cops are like, they wouldn't have kept the informant running books making millions long term. The cop was paid off, likely several in the department were also paid off. Bob may have mentioned Doris's divorce idea, so the cops took care if it, so Bob would keep bringing in the money. In the book, 1992, The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate, by Christian writer Gary Chapman, which I read back when I was an atheist, gifts is one of five ways that people express and experience love, so it could very well be that Bob loved his wife but only expressed it by gift giving.
the other four are, words of affirmation (I love you, you look wonderful today) acts of service, doing things for the other person, spending quality time with them, and physical touch.
I believe that there's at least one more, and probably many more, but my suggestion is loving teasing, kind of tickling, but with words.
some people only express or crave the experience of one of them. some couples can be a mismatch, too, the woman craving cuddling and sex, the man giving gifts, like Bob and his wife.
some people both express and experience love all five ways, and my Christian girlfriend, back then, who recommended the book, said that both my mother and experienced and expressed all five ways.
I believe that you can teach yourself to express and learn to enjoy more of them, although I do it naturally.

Yeah I hear it often in Dr G's stories that these criminals use a .22 LR or even .22 short for their crimes. I think more often it is due to ignorance and accessibility. However, in this case, it seems the perp knows the extent they need to go to with the ammo they are using. Typically heads shots are required for lethal .22, hence they did 5 head shots. On another note, caliber doesn't necessarily represent how powerful the round is. A .223 is just slightly wider than a .22 but is a much larger bullet and exerts much more energy.

Many times a sentence gets reduced for good behavior. So he got a slap on the wrist for breaking the Law for years. Maybe that ex Cop he sent up got out and killed the wife. Why would his brother say Bob was not involved?

Bob was quite manipulative and sneaky. The way he eliminated the competition and took over other betting businesses says it all. There was probably an understanding among bookies that they don’t encroach on each others business and they mind their own business. He was greedy AF and had no limits to what he would do to eliminate someone that got in the way of his ability to make and keep money. Even if Doris had agreed to split the 3 million and leave, I think he still would have had her killed. That was just a stall tactic to prevent her from doing anything that would expose his illegal activities while he figured out a plan to get rid of her.

Seems to me that he forgot, during his analysis that the recording did no contain Bob's voice according to the expert and the daughters. That is basically enough, if true, to belive in the "framing his brother" theory. If the recording is a forgery what more evidence do we need?

I usually agree with your conclusions on who committed the murder(s) whether by reasonable doubt or actual murder, but for some reason, in this case, I feel like Bob did not try to kill his wife. I know he would feel threatened by her saying she'd notify the IRS but that was just a negotiating point to get more money. Since Bob seemed totally opposed to violence like how he protected his employees etc., especially in his business which usually has lots of violence, I think he would be very careful before opting murder. Killing his brother and wife just seems like too much for Bob. Meanwhile, I can imagine Roger being desperate and agreeing to murder Doris for money and to protect his brother's money. After all, Roger basically lived off his successful brother Bob. But who knows, yet it looks like the jury agreed with me. Ah well, he got some time for his tax evasion anyway.

Sad situation. I wonder if Doris had kept her threats to herself would the outcome be different. As for Roger and his letter they say "blood is thicker then water "or he could have been remorseful. I personally believe Bob was guilty of the murder. Thank you Dr Grande. Brilliant analysis and informative topic.
