Lets keep this simple...
The previous owner of my Oculus quest wore glasses... this led to scratches galore on the lenses of the HMD.
Thankfully if you have 5 minutes to spare and a tube of Polywatch plastic polish you can make it a lot lot better!

I know it's probably not advisable, but I did the entirety of both lenses, instead of just the scratched spots. Since this stuff is an abrasive, I wanted it to evenly do whatever it was going to do to the entire lens, instead of just wearing down one spot on the scratch.
It cleared up the lenses all over, even in spots I didn't know needed fixing, until I saw how much clearer everything was afterwards.
Worked like a charm. No damage done. My Quest 2 lenses seem as clear as when I bought them, now!
but that's what he said to do. buff it out to the edge of the lense
Thanks for the video! I was able to use Polywatch to polish my Quest 2 lenses after a previous owner scratched it with their glasses, and it worked amazing! Some pro tips: Try to use a microfiber towel if you can find one, and only use a small corner of the towel to avoid soaking up too much of the solution during application. Make quick little circles with the rag and a single finger for 3 minutes around the most affected area (I used a timer on my phone to make sure, your arm should get tired around minute 2!) using medium pressure, slowly working outwards to polish the whole lens, then take a clean portion of the microfiber towel and gently wipe off any remnant Polywatch, and presto, no more lens scratches!
Works. Just confirmed it for what it’s worth. Simple and safe. Thank you.
Dude this is amazing!!! I just bought some off Amazon and it worked wonders!!!!!!!! I had a horribly scratched lenses and it made me want to sell my headset because of it. This literally just saved my Odyssey!!! Good thing is that now I'm not using my glasses anymore. bought a prescription lens adapter.
where did you get the prescription lens adapter for VR?
Just got my quest 2. Didn't even know about glasses adapters. Scratched my left lens real good during the initial setup alone. Can confirm, this guide is a lifesaver.
Did it remove the scratch completely or just a part? \
It removed mine pretty much all the way
you scratched your lenses because you wear your glasses with the vr? and where touching?
just the video I needed. Glasses wearer here, and yeah I have these exact scratch patterns. Gonna buy me this stuff and simply not wear my glasses (thank god for not making me completely blind without my glasses.). And once i can, I'll get some nice lense prescription things. gonna cost me 70€ tho. But better spend the bit of money now and be able to enjoy my rift S even longer.
I had the poly watch on order before watching this but I'm sold. I also got mine second hand and the previous users had used glasses and theres scratches and dings in the lenses. I'm confident the poly will do the job though. thanks for the video brother.
Pro Tip: DO NOT USE THE POLYWATCH ON YOUR EYEGLASSES! The oculus lenses and my eyeglasses scratched each other, and polishing the eyeglasses ruined them completely.
That’s because the vr lenses are a type of plastic and your glasses are, well, glass.
@@fernatagames Glasses are less and less commonly made of glass though. I haven't EVER worn a pair of glass glasses, and I've been wearing glasses for 30 years! Polycarbonate is what most of them are made from. The catch is that they are normally glazed in some kind of sensitive coating.
@@damiondreggs3500 Huh, the more you know. I wonder if her’s were polycarbonate and if that should’ve worked.
Thanks. Seeing the video had given me ideas.
For glass you might consider micromesh
Exactly what I was looking for l, thank you!
Nice video ,this actually worked and the lenses are good as new , though i had to do it twice.
Thank you for this tutorial 🙏🏽😁great flow
Dude this was perfect
it worked like a charm on my rift S
Thank you very much
Thank you! It worked on my son's Oculus Quest 2. He had been wearing glasses and it scratched the lenses. One quick application and his lenses are clear again. Thank YOUUUUUUU!
Thanks! Bought this using your link, I hope it gives some kind of affiliate payout.
i did one pass on both lenses on my HP WMR (the refurbished ones tend to have the scratches from glasses, i got two real cheap and both had that issue), both had significant weird blurriness all over and i was worried i messed it up. did a second pass on both and man, it's like night and day difference. after your first pass plug the headset in and look through it, and then if you need to do a second pass on any bits that need cleaning up. center lenses are crystal clear now, i feel like the edges might be SLIGHTLY blurrier than they were before but the overall quality is significantly improved (i'll take slightly blurry edges as opposed to having to move my head around to avoid the scratches IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LENS)
Thanks!
I CAN SAY 100% WORKS WITH POLY WATCH ON MY QUEST 2!!!
Just an update : My quest 2 is still working with no issues after using Polywatch. Get the Polywatch for plastic!!! NOT GLASS.
@@blankogod394 hi, can you maybe put a link here? Or the exact name?
@@moritzmodlin9177 Just type "Polywatch for plastic" into Google. It should be a white tube, black cap, black writing with "PolyWatch" on the front and at the opposite end to the cap it should say "plastic" in black writing.
@@blankogod394 ok thanks, is there anything i need to be careful about? I dont want to make the scratch worse
@@moritzmodlin9177 I used it on the corner of a glasses cloth, and then rubbed in circles for around 5 mins, the polywatch will then disappear and just wipe it with another piece of the cloth that has not been used on lens. Good luck man!
I bought some and it's a miracle product. lol
Good video, I can absolutely guarantee you though, that one application will remove the anti glare coating entirely, these coatings will remove over time with lens cloths but with an abrasive solution they will instantly be removed, the coatings are about 0.3 microns thick, one polish and they are gone, but if you have a scratched lens, you don't have the luxury of retaining the coating, so it's a good option for sure, just something to be aware of 🙂
True. But you can get some custom lenses that they just snap on the existing ones.
@@badseednut gotta link?
Do you notice any increased glare on your lenses? I would think glare shouldn’t be an issue since there’s no light hitting the lenses from the outside while it’s on your face, right?
@KonaBoda I have been very careful with my Reverb to not lose the coating but I have done it to a monitor screen in the past and left an unsightly patch
My quest had that to begin with *glare* and it's really annoying and when I tried to fix it cause I thought the lenses were dirty I found out they had small scratches all over 😭😭
Does this really fix lenses scratches, I got the PS VR and they are very scratched on the side and I'm afraid that by doing this might damage the center part which right now it's not scratched.
My scrathes are not deep at all! I hope i can fix it well, i was really sad when i realised i got so much scratches on my rift s :(( It's all just by some small particles that i pressed against the glass while cleaning it.
Will u please put a link for thar type of poly watch..... please
Hopefully this works for me, my odyssey plus has scratches on the right lense exactly in the spot where sights are when I try to aim in games
Does this work with the spots that appear after getting chemicals on the lense? I put on my headset one day to find that they had developed spots on them because a careless room mate sprayed frebreeze in my room when I set my headset down
thank you, I didn't know what to use, and now i know
Scam
I got an Oculus Quest 2 brand new at Best Buy (at least, I'm pretty sure it was brand new), and the right lens has a huge scratch running across it right out of the box! Gonna go back to Best Buy and have a chat with customer service and see if they can either offer something to get rid of the scratch or exchange the defective headset for a new one.
Mines not a big deal but I got my oculus scratched up all on the white when it was sealed with plastic and the charging port also has scratches like someone was missing the hole to plug it in i’m not gonna return in but i’m hella confused
That’s exactly what happened to mine! Right out of the box and I see a huge scratch on my right lense. It’s really distracting and it sucks!
@@AboveComplicated get a replacement
Got a second hand Reverb G2 with some super thin but long two scratches running from corner to corner on left lens. I don't even think I notice them when using the set. I got Polywatch though, in case it starts bothering me I have a solution.
Does this work on ps5 black glossy plastic?
Can i do this for PSVR2 Lens? i read about psvr2 lens and they said it's a resin glass
I used it. It worked perfectly, though now my Oculus Quest 2 has more glare now. Still better than than the scratches though.
how intense is the glare?
@@St-si8cd Don't worry about that part. You can buy some anti lense accessories to put on the lenses if you get glare
@@urmom6428 i can’t find any anti glare, can u send a link
Objectively, have you applied maybe too much polish or too much pressure? I'm interested too so an objective point of view from your bad experience would help me a lot! Thank you!
How is there glare on the lenses at all? Doesn’t there have to be light hitting the lenses from outside for there to be glare? Which shouldn’t be the case when it’s against your face, right?
Would this work with the psvr2 glasses?
So with my Oculus Quest 2, it removed Scratch from it but when I flash it with a lamp, you can still see a lot of micro-scratches, so in reality it works well but it's not perfect either. I still recommend
Will this work for a quest 3?
NOVA scrath remover is a better option. Then you can restore headligts and deeper scratches on pther plastics. Obviously youll only need the 2000 polish and sealer for this job but again you can use NOVA for alot more projects.
will this work on psvr1 headset?
I tried this on my PSVR and it worked a little bit, but still not great, are they different lenses? Thanks!
Yes, the psvr lenses are sort of a mix between glass and plastic (kind of hard to explain) so it may take many more times to completely remove the issue, but I would recommend not doing it, as at that point you might be doing more damage than repair
After the polywatch was rubbed in for several minutes, did you go back and clean the lens again with an isopropyl wipe or was polywatch the last thing you used on it?
Do not use isopropyl wipes on your lenses, it may dissolve the material. Try using fog from your mouth, combined with a microfiber cloth.
@@gacker209 Apparantly the fog that comes out of your mouth is also a bit acidic.
@@Joetoep bruh, nothing is safe

Anyone know if it'll work for my vive?
My left lens randomly cracked. I need to find where to get some
Does it work on PSVR?
does it work on pico neo 3 lenses?
if PolyWatch is a last resort what are the other options
Will it work on psvr
I'm going to have to try this. I have glasses, and even with the adapter, I still got these smudges 😭 this whole time I thought it was my glasses giving the annoying smudges I was seeing, but they're on the Oculus lenses themselves...
I just got prescription lenses so I don't have to wear any glasses. I'll have to do this to get rid of the annoying smudges.
Once you do it get some lens protectors on there.. they will help prevent future scuffs
How'd it go?
should i worry about microscrathes i cant tell if they are making view worse
Is it better to use the crystal cleaner or plastic?
Just decided to watch this video on a whim. Did the results of this video actually work? I don’t want to venture into it if it’s not gonna help anything.
Can I use something else ?
Can I just say that it works with smudges
I have two scratches smack in the middle of BOTH lenses, one scratch on the right one in the middle, same with the left, can’t wait to try this so that I won’t deal with it anymore.
Work?
did it work?
It didn't work for me on my VALVE INDEX, seems to be permanent scratches. all it did was polish the worst spot and make the "line scratches" worse. I use a microfiber and glasses clean cloth microfiber and used it for 10 min straight on the same spot.
sadly looks like im gonna have to pay 150$ for a new eye piece
Hi I’m trying to fix my PS VR and just would like to know if this method works for PS VR as well or it’s different material? I saw in one of the comments saying about oculus vive... but didn’t mentioned about PS VR, thanks for the help 🙌🏻
All lenses in vr are using similar materials. Only use Polywatch for plastic with a glasses cloth
Can you use this on quest 3?
our index is 2 weeks old and already has 2 scratches.. from my glasses. iam serverly shortsighted with -7 and a rather high astigmatism and cant wear contacts, my eyes just get bloodshot afert 20minutes, so i had to use my glasses otherwise the headset is unuseable for me. i was about to order prescription insert, untill i saw and read, that almost all of the manusfactorers for the index, use old mounting system that arent made to be put on and taken off over and over. since the headset is a shared device and my wife and i change beatsaber rounds, this would mean the lenses would get a "put on 10 times a day, taken off 10 times a day" treatment, which will kill the mounting system very fast so i would have to reorder a 100+ buck arcticle over and over.. and no this. iam pretty sure, the collision occur, then i move my head fast because i hear something behind me and turn my head fast.. it sucks that no matter what, as a heavy shortsighted person, you always get the short end of the stick. on the other hand: why does it have to be such sensetive material?
you must've gotten the same amazon ad i received for that stuff

@@danielecipriano1877 I've just used it a few days ago and it worked! ^^ Find a video called "Remove scratches from Oculus Quest / Vive / VR HMD" and look at the first comment. There you will be able to see my emotional process :D
I stupidly used some lens cleaning fluid on my Quest 2 and it's now blurry. Do I use the same technique as in the video to fix it? 3 minutes?
have you tried it?, i have the same issue
@@m.ghazanfar1317 I tried it and it initially seemed to help but some blurriness stayed. I tried it multiple times and that made it worse. It won't hurt to try the Polywatch, but proceed with caution.
At this point, I've got the Quest 2 sitting in its case and haven't used it in 6+ months. Even ignoring the blurriness, there just wasn't any compelling content to compel me to put on the bulky device.
I left my quest 2 in a white trash bag but I put it in a black trash bag because it would block out the sunlight when I took it on the go. I noticed a scratch 100% buying a case now
VERY VERY SATISFIED about this product. No problem to recover my lens after beeing scratched by my eyeglasses. I could also clean my eyeglasses themselves scratched. Use a cotton for polishing cars and rub with quick circular movements for 3 or 4 minutes. dry with an optical cloth. If the result is not perfect make another clean ... Enjoy !
I recommend after you finished the Scratch-Repair to also use some Liquid-Glass-Protection.
