Now and then a blues player turns up and plays with real soul where every note counts and it’s never over flash. Kirk Fletcher is that guy. He just makes me want to play my guitar and reminds me, like Peter Green did, that it is about making my guitar sing.
This is the best slow blues solo I've ever heard from him and one of the best blues solos I've ever heard. Every lick was choice. Josh Smith followed ELEGANTLY with a full soft 24 bars unaccompanied. This is a remarkable recording live
I particularly like how Josh followed up with a little different style of blues. Kirk laid down more of the traditional type stuff and Josh followed up with more of a jazz/country type feel rather than playing similarly to Kirk. That’s what makes it interesting is knowing how to add different flavors so they don’t come out sounding the same.
Always surprised at the quality and originality of today's relatively unknown blues guitarists. Chris Cain to Robert Randolph, Josh. I hope to help foster a revival of blues piano, played on real pianos. I tried to make my case to Chris, but he was like "digi pianos stay in tune homie. aint no pianos in clubs". can you imagine Josh playing this onMetheney's's digital rig? NO WAY!!!! I rest my case. Digi pianos. bah. BS balderdash. shite. ua-cam.com/video/0BVprgdMp60/v-deo.html hootche cootchie man

I just love seeing Josh Smith's reaction to Kirk's playing. Josh is an awesome player who arguably knows just about every blues lick out there yet he shows enjoyment & appreciation for a peers excellent display of blues soloing.
Love that look these two exchange when Kirk hits that first shirl BB King style and makes Josh crack up, and I agree with everyone else, some of the most soulful blues played at this event, wish I was there to see and hear it! Monsters of the blues!
When my girlfriend snapped off the headstock of my Taylor guitar because it swept through my fender blues deluxe speaker I had the blues so bad. Then hurricane Sandy came and completely submersed the amp in salt water. I did so many gigs with that amp. Play the crap out of your gear , tomorrows never guaranteed. True story 😢
Got to see Kirk play with Joe Bonnamossa in ‘16 was a great player in support for Joe very humble and talented player and Josh also appears in many Jeff Koch videos and if you haven’t seen them yet you really need to because Jeff is awesome
@@sguitar2002 Not at all a shadow, as technical a player JB is, he has lost a huge amount of feel in his playing over the years and plays far too much at times. Not taking anything away from JB but I listen to his early blues stuff these days. Kirk however, maybe not as technical but boy does he have feel, JOSH on the other is the most listenable player here, and I stress " In my opinion anyway" Anyway they are equally as good as each other, just depends on who's ear is listening to them. My favorite phrase is "Blues Ain't A Competition, It's a Way Of Life"
If you want to get some blues stylings under your fingers Kirk and Josh are an excellent source of material. Remember that listening is the thing. If you can hum it, then find it on the fretboard, you're off to the races. Also, these cats have been doing it since they were in diapers so be patient. Lol. You'll get there as well...
Me mental distancing with two of the best sounded Blues guitarists on the planet right now while people are all social distancing. This music is coming from the stratosphere and it is definitely not intended for the majority of people. I know for fact, B.B. King would be proud of them. I followed Kirk for about a decade and a half: he got so much better that he comes close to B.B. King in terms of finesse. But for those who don't know, Josh Smith here sounds a bit like Kirk used to sound like in his big US touring days except of course Josh has a perfect technique here. BTW I am almost sure Kirk played Fender back in the days and not Gibson. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I think now mr bonamassa had nothing to prove ! He’s playing with the new wave of blues but none of them have his career ! For me it’s the proof of a big humility for a giant of music ! Big respect for joe! But I don’t think that the drummer is Joe 🤣

Find someone in life that looks at you the way Josh and Kirk look at each other! Blues Brothers In Arms ✌🏻
Josh Smith is a monster player from another planet.
Near the planet that Kirk hails from I believe.
Probably my favourite ever josh solo
I can hardly breathe when Kirk plays.....he is THAT good!!

Oboy my goodness we've got some great kids on the Block
We are currently in a golden age for blues guitar players I think, this is brilliant... And then some.

Kirk, that was the most soulful solo I have ever heard. Your soul was talking to you. It came through loud and clear.
Wow, what an opening for the song... Kirk Fletcher, you gotta love this guy!!
Kirk's playing was so good, the keyboard player feel asleep at the beginning. Thankfully, he woke up.
One of the best slow blues ever, and there are some good ones
Damn right dude, you obviously know your blues. This is up there with the all time greats.
Man Kirk sure set the bar for Josh to follow, I also love how you can hear the pure joy in the crowd when these men play.

Simplicity truly is an art form

Hi, he is really good. God and hard work bless him!
Josh Smith, what a Masterclass
Love that look these two exchange when Kirk hits that first shirl BB King style and makes Josh crack up, and I agree with everyone else, some of the most soulful blues played at this event, wish I was there to see and hear it! Monsters of the blues!
at 2:05 he starts tearing it up. Wailing on it. But still tasteful. Intensity with restraint - the ultimate test of blues musicianship.
Ten minutes of pure joy! 😊
Two monster blues players. Love em both!
Wow, i'm in absolute awe, third watch and still cant believe what i'm watching, so good!!!!!! thanks for uploading this is what I live for!
I love when Kirk repeats that lick at the end of every measure, starting at 1:27 . I've noticed that's like a signature of his
Happened up Mr. Fletcher. My life got better. With a whiff of of those Sweet smellin' Riffs!😎
One of the best
Kirk has so much souls when he plays !! Josh is a fantastic player - what a great clip 🙌🏼

This is awesome
My gosh!!!! Two monsters of blues together!!!!!
No words, Just no words.

This is, simply, legendary

Wonderful phrasing from Fletcher.
Josh has very distintive sound. Great playing by both!

Hearing beautiful licks bringing back to Danny Galton.

Man that is a nice snare sound. Almost sounds like a triggered snare sample
Thanks man! I used my Yamaha Steve Jordan 13x6.5 snare on this gig. A true honor and privilege to be on stage with these musical giants.
@@jonrf99 Oh yea sick. Well it sounds fantastic. Yea I bet that would of been amazing. They are the two of the top dogs in their league
Yeah church! Disse gutta er ekte musikalske.
wow!!
Bonamassa nervously smokes on the sidelines )))
This guy is a merely a shadow of bonamasa and I'm sure he's honoured to play alongside him

They're all pals anyhow.
Just that Joe has made more dough so far.
He makes sure his mates get work and get noticed.

❤if you like blues then check out! Whiskey blues it’s slow blues and you’ll just MELT!! x

great playing - wish Kirk and keyboard player weren't chatting during Josh's time (9:17 and 9:27) - kinda slowed down some good stuff
Damn Kirk was feelin it here huh?
Niiiice
🎸
ace
Is Kirk Fletcher grandson of Freddie King(rip)?
Oh goodness that is some sweet blues. Sounds great through that Twin Reverb. What speakers are in it? Kirk is also the nicest guy out there.
The original Oxford 12T6 speakers. The 12T6 sound much better than any other vintage Oxford speaker. 👌👏🏻

Not sure why Josh is just standing there. Can't figure that out...
Kirk is great but i like him more on a Tele or a Strat.
🎸🍻♥️👍
5:06 that pigeon is going in
How do you follow that?
Who says the blues ain't still alive? These two guys burn't the stage down!
it´s a tough job to play after kirk
