I was there, and I've been an admirer of Greg for some time.....Great Videos from this night!!! Became a Josh Smith fan because of this show. Great Video!!!!!!
Greg Koch plays a very interesting intro, while Josh Smith plays a directly stunning slow blues solo, where his fusion between blues and country really seems inspired. How thankful i am, that I suddenly through UA-cam can have all this incredible music "live" in my living room, thousand miles away in cold Denmark.
Greg's use of space, and silence blows me away. so many guitar heroes just blast away, but those of us with a musical sensibility respect 'expression'.
@@danielsuarez1431 totally agree. I thought of jack Pearson when listening to Josh playing. Jack is phenomenal. The other unsung, under appreciated best guitar player on the planet is Chris Cain. Lots of players out there of course..but none better than these 4 imho
Both great guitar players. Greg and Josh each have vast catalogs of chops. And each can easily cross over amongst genres. There is a great video of Pete Thorn and Tim Pierce interviewing Josh - and Josh just goes to places with his playing on that vid that are crazy. Greg has always been a favorite. And unlike some of the folks that have made comments here, I enjoy Greg's ability to laugh at himself, music, the world, etc. Kudos to both men; they are at the top of the guitar playin' pantheon these days.
Been a fan of Greg's for a long time and his awesome dry humor and his "grissle" that he plays. Josh also has become one of my favorites as well. Josh can out play a lot of todays Artists. He plays so unabashedly with all the vim-n-vigor that he can muster. Truly a masterful feel for the Tele. Love it guys, keep pluckin those teles. Still waitin to see "Festis Magcrackin live and in person. Rock on dudes!!!!!!
First, thanks so much for excellent quality HD video recording. Second... wow, this is crazy good playing. Great tones out of those teles. Looks like an old Fender Vibrolux for Greg and a Morgan JS40 for Josh. Love Greg's sense of humor in this jam. And Josh's note choice is so tasty.
Both are incredible players, no doubt. I agree with the guy below who says he feels Greg Koch's silliness takes him out of the moment...I've always found it a distraction. But I've never heard him play like this. Incredible tone and control over bends, love the tone of the snapping strings. What a badass. And there are no words for Josh Smith.
Loved it, Man. This is the 1st time I came across Greg & He reminded me so much of early Bromberg, the guitar playing, the humor, & the way he knows how to hang back & give it up to somebody else. & as for Josh, he`s right up there with Peter Green, Buddy Whittington, & Gary Moore, so the only thing left to say is "Praise the Lord that Davey Knowles & Quinn Sullivan are heading our way.
Damn! These two are just killin' it. Monster players both of them, and always a good interview. So cool how they dig on sharing the gold with anyone who will listen... not that it will do me any good lol!!
Thanks for posting this great performance of a great song! I've been a fan of Greg for quite some time now but was not familiar with Josh until this set of videos you posted. I'm a fan now! I was lucky enough to see Josh recently and he was fantastic, highly recommend him to anyone.
It doesn't matter who you are, Greg Koch is fully capable of eating you alive with the guitar (if it were in his nature to do so) and doing it with that wonderful sense of humor of his. Luckily for us, he's a nice guy and just loves making music.
Love the middle position/ tone 3 sound. The notes just jump out with amazing clarity yet still have the P90 attitude. Great job putting this set together. I am truely impressed. Gotta get a set. Thanks for the great demo Greg.
Hi Natacha 😊 I read your text of your chain in "about" Thanks good ethics and respect as you say for and with love! So thanks for all the shared videos 👍😉 "Pitchoun Blue" from France 💓🙄
Blues doesn't get better than this. 1:17 he goes from Albert Collins to Jimi. Just brilliant, ending with that growl at 1:30. Badass and sends chills every time.
Amazing playing by 2 monsters with a great supporting band following every note. To that end, I can't imagine what it's like to try out for one of Greg's bands. Closest I can get is thinking it goes something like this: "What songs should I prepare for the try-out, Greg?" - "All of them." - "Every artist in every genre?" - "Yes."
Josh Smith proving that you don't need low action to play fast! Can see the gap between the fretboard and his low E string from 100ft away! Love the sounds he gets.

Josh is a beast. More subtle compared to Greg but an absolut beast
Wtf? Koch! Never heard a tele that beautiful!

I don't know that youtube is all that "sudden" xD

Right on... Greg's intro solo (burns like hell)
@@jjohn341 Josh took Greg home at 9:08.......
The space between is just as important.
Greg's hands are freaking huge.
@@thuxta Greg is freaking huge.
Josh is the blues king right now. He combines technique and feeling and his phrasing catalogue is vast.
yep. totally agree
Josh is one of them but the other is Jack Pearson. He plays rock, country, blues and jazz and his knowledge of the genres is awsome.
@@danielsuarez1431 totally agree. I thought of jack Pearson when listening to Josh playing. Jack is phenomenal. The other unsung, under appreciated best guitar player on the planet is Chris Cain. Lots of players out there of course..but none better than these 4 imho

The quality of this video is unreal.

T....Josh is killer man.....in my opinion he's the only one that comes close to Gatton .....he has that vibe going on. Unique player.
Amazing. The entire 13 minutes is a clinic.
The two best Telecaster blues players around!
Takes a lottttttt of courage to get up on stage with Greg Koch
Takes a lot of courage to get up on stage with Josh Smith!
@@KrlosRodz Yes, Josh is by far the more complete guitar player. Love Greg, though.
most creative force in guitar playing today-- Gregory Kochery
How great of a guy is Greg?! Josh is just as much of a monster! Both of these guys are way too good.
Wow.....Greg is a force of nature on that Tele. I'm already well used to Josh blowing me away.

Been a Greg and Josh fan for years two stellar musicians performing . Thanks for posting the vid. Wish I could have been at the live performance.
How could anyone give this a thumbs down ?

Video and audio are great. Thanks for sharing this amazing show. Love Greg and Josh.
Never heard of Greg till this video. Very original and powerful player. Josh Smith got the chops as usual. Great video, thanks!
I get so stoked when I come across a new Josh and Greg live vid. New to me anyway.

Davey Knowles haha. The guy doesn't know the first thing about nuance.
blows me away every time i watch this
What a dream stage... absolutely amazing!!!! thanks for charing this moment.
The piano player... makes everyone else sound better.
He is killer .......knows when to let it go and when to chill ....watches them like a hawk 👍
Oh, yea. He's a pro. Knows exactly where to be....and not to be.
Yeah he does
Brandon Wiewel they always do... I’d much rather play with a good key tickler and a bass than another rhythm guitar player and a bass.... any day.
Well, he was about to close his loop. Better make his last gig a good one.
Greg Koch......quite simply the best guitarist on the planet !!
POWER HOUSE maybe.....
The volumen control of Josh in one is a terrific progression on guitar power! :-D
Bravo. Greg is the total package. He a damn good singer too!
Damn! These two are just killin' it. Monster players both of them, and always a good interview. So cool how they dig on sharing the gold with anyone who will listen... not that it will do me any good lol!!
I have enjoyed Greg's videos and instructions, but this video shows what a master player he is. Emotional content big time.

Koch brilliant. Josh beyond awesome.
Josh is unbelievable, and so is Greg! 👌🙏
Thanks for sharing this with all of us!😺
Very intelligent playing, by both men
Mercy! Listening to this while stacking my guitars in the backyard for a bonfire…
Josh really knows how to mix Jazz Blues and Country pickin
So much talent and soul.

Saw them both on the Norwegian Pearl last month 3/13-17/2023. Along with Joe Bonamassa, and a bunch of world-class bands.
Ive found so many great musicians through this channel!
Damn Greg that was great!
This make me smile so much
Greg cannot be touched. Gales is close behind, but dear lord, his phrasing is mind-melting.
7:20 when the real musicians in the band, aka the bass player, starts making those faces, you know you're good. HUGE balls to follow josh's solo.
Far out Greg's tone here is unreal. Amazing playing
Omg the universe almost imploded that night!
OMG you guys playing is awesome..
Thanks, Natasha!
Some great guitar playing here! Both play in their own style and with their own sound. Real music for sure!
Good grief. I was just trying to listen had to keep looking at what they were playing like "WTF?!" great playing all around. Cheers gentlemen.

Greg just has the touch.....His use of space. Never rushes. Tone for days. P S Josh kills too.
What Greg does at 12:05! Sounds like a spaceship is landing!
Real blues masters. Long life to Blues, yeah!!!
Wow. I'm not sure what I witnessed here, but it was certainly supernatural.
Greg is always fresh, todays Blues I would say.
And this, folks, is why the Telecaster is the king of them all.
talented musicians Greg Koch and Josh Smith
My God Josh. What an AMAZING player
Luv to watch Josh squeeze out every drop of soul there BE...

That line about he dog losing its head looking for some tail... lol. Good stuff.
Rocking the brown face. I always find new reasons to love Greg.
Incredible
Two masters. No doubt about it.
My God, this is so gooooooooooooooooood!
Perfect symmetry couldn't put a cigarette paper between these two guitarist 😮!
Josh is amazing
"Festus McCracken of the All Night Pounders" LOL
Thats some funny stuff!!
Josh Smith proving that you don't need low action to play fast! Can see the gap between the fretboard and his low E string from 100ft away! Love the sounds he gets.
And playing on 013 strings....
Just wow!
Tab Benoit also covered this song on his first album.
Greg, Josh, please come to somewhere near Boston!
very very very good...i like this
Greg= Best all around player in blues/ rock/ Jazz today- Josh is awesome as well= that’s how you build a solo!
Really nice tone here.
That was f/ing unreal!!!
Talk about needing to bring your "A" game - that is a whole lot of guitar being played there!
GREG IS KING.
The story of my life!
Boy, I just love that sound of the kick drum - reminds me of John Bonham...
Excelente performance! Blues, Blues, Blues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soundin' like buddy guy. nioceeee
Freaking awesome
greg is so funny but such an amazing guitar player !!! josh is on top !
I'd Like to hear him jam with Johnny Hiland and or Chris Cain.
Mind Blown!
Amazing.
wow...love the G-man...and that Josh Smith...solid! By the by...who was the infidel that disliked this??!!! :-)
Spectacular!!!
This is a great blues song, performed by many greats of the genre…….I have always loved Tab Benoit's version as well….
Goddamned!!! This is so goooooooood!
That was inspirational - for me to never pick up a guitar to pretend that I can play ever again. Thanks.
I like Greg's tone!
