He's a superb player. His comp playing really shows his musicianship to me. I'm a guitar player (pretty limited - but what I do, I do well), so I have a lot of experience playing with others. I have to listen to him some more. The several times I've seen clips, he's been playing rhythm most of the time.
He was so cool when I messaged him on Facebook to express my admiration for his work. Just a total gentleman. "Keep playing!". Inspiration needed, and given. Thanks to your Uncle! "My Turn" is my fave modern blues album atm, it's phenomenal.
@@TJJJJJJJJJJJ I watch this video about once a week. This is 7 and a half minutes of the best advice any learning guitarist will ever need. IMO, priceless!!
Josh Smith's vocabulary, variation and techique are out of this world. I'm blessed to have stumbled across this man today, thanks UA-cam recommendations!!!
@@davewestfoils I am as surprised as you are, that's for sure. Let's agree that it's better later than never. I would've missed out on something big if it was the latter.
Love how their styles and sound are so different but mesh so well. Ariel has the quirky, innovative, almost exploratory playing, Kirk has a more classic, tasteful, soulful approach and Josh is just a machine. His vocabulary on the guitar reaches Stevie Ray Vaughan levels, just an endless well of awesome guitar phrases.
People comparing these to eachother, they’re all great. Completly different approches going in to their respective solos. Saying someones greater on this level is like saying what candies you like the most. :)
Absolutely jaw dropping stuff from all 3 major ‘heavies’- the level of musicianship, dynamics, groove, pure chops, and taste on display here is stunning. Masterclass!!
I listen to this at least once a week. What an incredible performance. It brings me so much joy listening to this, i just want to start dancing. Absolute legends!
It’s clearly not a competition & each player has their own style, flair & phrasing. Also Ariel is a phenomenal song writer & vocalist & Kirk is a great producer.
That was top shelf - Josh and Kirk - I am familiar with but did not know too much about Ariel. He's another awesome player. NAMM had some excellent jams! Thanks for posting.
This jam is full of incredible moments. From simple splashes of beautiful tone to pure harmonic brilliance. One of my favorite moments is at 8:44. Josh Smith is definitely running away with the torch and I'm glad that he is!
Josh is a master and what should be mainstream compared to many. Kirk is just a pure soul on the string, no lie on the delivery and what provoke beautiful emotions. And Ariel is just this change to the equation that makes everything magical, that person that brought what was needed.
WOW, all are great but the first two soloists gave a mad cool awesome clinic on how to solo with excellence and lock in a groove with band members . . .
I love these guys. What I love most about them is that they make a guitar sound like a GUITAR. I am not knocking gain, distortion, etc. I use distortion a lot. But when I hear this stuff, I cut it off (or way down)!
Kirk soloing doesn't get the benefit of having Kirk playing rhythm underneath .. Mr Fletcher is a monster on rhythm, and his improvising is excellent too .. Josh Smith is just incredible improvising, all the chops and taste you could ever want .. Both of these guys are inspirations
Man these guys are ridiculous!! If I had even a tenth of their talent I'd be happy. I love Kirk's feel, he really sings the blues with his playing and has some ridiculous chops. Josh is a master of the guitar, his playing has that jazzy inflection and his improvising flows so nicely, it flows right through him almost effortlessly. Ariel Posen is cool as fuck and his playing is super interesting, he really takes you to a place that you don't expect. WOW.
@@Utube-g3g my old fingers wanna die and hide in a corner but my heart is a saying" at 66 you ain't too old to get down on it!" give me a start on a few basics here guys!"

1Anitras Dance is the best! I dig pretty much everything she's taped. I especially enjoyed her recent Bonamassa Keeping the Blues Alive recordings. Thanks so much for this. These guys are great fun to watch.
I fully expected this to be really good. I had no idea it would be this good though. Wow. Incredible. I realized about half way through I had a huge smile on my face watching these guys have so much fun. Josh set the stage with that brilliant opening and then the games began. Thanks guys!
This just is get down foolish feel good incredible music, I'm talkin about all day long! Wow, they are so friggan awesome! I could make my drums talk to that! Legends!!
Josh is one of those incredible players that you just marvel and think he is clearly one of the GOATS. Kirk feeling it at starting 10:30.. awesome group of players..
Josh could an entire hour without repeating himself a single time, what a phenomenal player.
beast.
Absolutely
agree
He’s on a completely other level!
He’s unreal dude
my uncle Kirk Fletcher is one of the best to ever do it, super humble and gifted the guitar playing speaks for itself
I'll be stealing some of his riffs.... hope you don't mind.

@@melsimpson428 That's a proper musician's mindset. But man oh man! Can he solo when he wants to!!
fantastico maravilloso KIRK
Josh has to be one of the best improvisers about hands down. The guy has chops for days

Josh looks like the guy who quit high school so he could fish full-time, but DAMN, can he play. Three incredible talents!
Love how Ariel is count 8/8 and Josh and Kirk are counting 4/4 with the foot tapping.
These guys are real musicians, Ariel came in soft so Kirk and josh also went soft on the rhythm to match his dynamics. Love to see that
Josh Smith's vocabulary, variation and techique are out of this world. I'm blessed to have stumbled across this man today, thanks UA-cam recommendations!!!
abit late to the party if your channel name is GuitarSolos? :)

And Josh is amazing. But what a hidden gem Kirk Fletcher is. Seems like such a humble guy and an incredible player.
Jeffrey Richard he’s a great lead player and doesn’t really get the recognition he deserves.
Ariel is so weird.. in the best most amazing way. Love his style

One of the absolutely finest jammings i’ve heard……. ever
Kirk Fletcher’s tone and timing are fantastic. My favourite contemporary blues guitarist.
Wow. All guitars so clean too! Not a note missed. Josh is on another planet man. Get Ariel on his slide and he's just so unique.

Amen 😀
Indeed
Kirk Fletcher’s solo beautiful … the phrasing sat so well in the groove and chord sequence … a really good blues guitarist.

Yes, in a league of his own
It’s clearly not a competition & each player has their own style, flair & phrasing. Also Ariel is a phenomenal song writer & vocalist & Kirk is a great producer.
Josh is one of those guys who "never dries up," like Clapton said of Stevie Ray.
lucky for the rest of us, Josh sold his soul and we can enjoy his devilish AWESOMENESS...
Ariel and Kirk r obviously also insanely GIFTED
These guys are the future of the blues, and the future is looking bright!
I 2/3 agree with you.
Kirk Fletcher brilliant player .. and one of the few who can make ANY guitar seems like a kids model :D
Really good players living their best lives right there and what a joy to watch and hear it.
it amazes me how 3 guys can get together...start jamming, and not one glaring error or lame idea comes out. Incredible
These guys are just dripping with guitar virtuosity! They have practiced so much that it’s in ‘em and it’s got to come out!
Josh Smith is AMAZING. Never runs out it ideas. Every chorus sounds entirely different.
I think this is the best "Jam" I've ever heard. What a blast.
One of the best videos from NAMM for me. They all have a fantastic ear for harmony and feel but are unique from each other at the same time!

Great work, as always Natasha, your recordings are pro...both video and audio. You effort is greatly appreciated! GB!
They're all fine players, Josh just has that style that is so well versed in every great player, the guy is a master of the instrument.
