The case for and against the Orlando Magic signing Paul George

- I honestly cannot find a basketball reason for the Orlando Magic not to pursue Paul George. He shoots, he scores, he defends, he plays as a good teammate, he is comfortable playing off other ball-dominant stars. So why the hesitation? There are some concerns and team-building concerns in going for the big fish this offseason.

Pg would add shooting and take a lot of pressure off P5 it would allow Franz to take a smaller role and be more efficient and he’s a beast defender who can play the 2 with Suggs at the 1
pg been my favorite player since the indy danny granger days. he has everything the magic need, but we dont need his age, salary, or injuries. we can do a lot better for that money
Would rather see Magic go after Anfernee Simmons and Jarred Allen or Claxton
Honestly paul George probably can run the PG position he has improved on his playmakin alot and he has the ball handling to not get rip..I give the magic the green for the sign

There are other ways to get similar production to PG. I really do not expect Weltman/Parker to jump in for him at above 40mil.
I don't either. But like I said, he is a great basketball fit.
And if PG gets injured their screwed
end of the day there is no perfect player and even if there was the player wouldnt be playing for orlando or even be a free agent. paul george while aging would make franz and paolo life easier and would put suggs in the role that he should be in the 4th option in the starting lineup. paul geoge will cost cap space not any of the young players or draft picks and would put this team on the map and show paolo that this team is serious about winning. offer george the max and let him turn orl down. if he does then they need to get both tyus jones and malcom brogdon to address backcourt needs
Do a case for and against trading for Collin Sexton
I probably need to do a more detailed trade episode soon. Sexton is definitely someone to consider, although I have Simons well ahead of him for trade targets.
We can talk about it all day, but in reality, does Paul George actually want to come to Orlando? If he’s not reaching out to us to express interest I think $40 million can be spent in other areas. 🤷♂️

yes, I agree with you Phillip. Paul George skillset is what the Magics starting unit is missing, however the young Magic's timeline does not match with Paul Georges timeline. PG suits well with Philly with them being in a win now mode with a 3-4 year window with Embiid. The Orlando Magic would best to add several pieces to this team via free agency this summer and they can keep them in the fold and grow with the team or when another disgruntled superstar becomes available, we will have the assets and players to make the move. The right player at the right time will become available and being prepared and ready to make the deal will be key.
My dream scenario: sign Malik Monk 4yr/$90 million and Nic Claxton 4 year/$80 million and resign Mo Wagner to the MLE,
Because of the shortage of centers in this free agent class I believe Nic will require $25 million a year
@@al610935I believe we can create the cap space to sign both Monk and Claxton by renouncing cap holds on fultz and harris, turning down team options on Ingles and Wagner. Resigning Mo on the MLE and hey if Ingles wants to stay then we can sign him to the vet minimum…
The domino effect of PG is that now you’d have to consider trading Franz or Suggs for a point guard.
