- The Orlando Magic welcomed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to Orlando on Saturday. They see a player who will undoubtedly help them on the court. But more importantly, they see someone who can give them the championship know-how to elevate the team.
The team needs to find a way to elevate themselves. With the team sticking with much of the same roster, the variables to improve are all internal. And the Magic are clearly betting on themselves.

The answer to our biggest problem is currently on the Denver Nuggets and is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Contract negotiations with Jamal Murray have broken down between him and the front office, a trade or outright signing of him next summer makes a lot of sense. Maybe KCP can get into Murray’s ear and talk him into being interested in Orlando at least. Our biggest trade chip is us holding Denver’s 2025 1st round draft pick (top 5 protected) + multiple team option contracts for the 2025 season as well as AB. We could put together an enticing package if we needed to pull of a sign and trade for him. I’m just thinking there could be something there especially if KCP is able to help lure Murray here.

So basically we ran back to mediocrity which is what Weltman said he wasnt gonna do.
Hard to call a 47-win season and the 5-seed with the fourth-youngest team in the league mediocrity. You don't become a title contender overnight. It takes steps. Last year was a big step.
If kcp is the only move im not happy... He doesn't solve our problems in rebounding, protecting the rim and playmaking... Do we beat Cleveland with kcp? Probably... But we need to look higher, and everyone's getting better...
What were your ideal moves?
They’re banking on internal growth

Don’t wanna ruin anyone’s development by making a crazy move like the nets always do
We were a top defensive team with Wendell.... Growing Paolo.... Growing Franz.... Growing Suggs. Shot blocks are great..... But still doesn't tell the full story. Forcing difficult shots is also a big deal. I'm pretty sure we went after IHart.... And didn't get him.... And claxton never made it to free agency. So.... Overpaying or taking risky deals for other players just don't make sense. Plus.... They resigned Goga who fits the bill.... Also growing. But.... With most teams being perimeter based.... A KCP and Suggs backcourt would be freaking stifling to any teams offense. so yeah .. the KCP signing might be underestimated.
They're banking on the improvements of suggs and black (in playmaking), goga improving and wcj getting healthier this season (for rim protecting and rebounding). Tyus jones is still on the market so there's still possibilities we pick him up. For bigs, not overpaying IHart is a smart move, i wanted the magic to sign drummond but he's just a short term solution. The magic made smart moves and decisions this offseason. Partial guarantee on JI's extension, team option on harris and moe's contract will help us remain flexible if we want to be buyers on the trade deadline or next offseason. Also east teams don't improve that much, outside of the knicks and sixers. Celtics, cavs, bucks, heat didn't add anyone significant
Paul George was just using them as a negotiating tool.. Klay turned down the identical offer from Orlando and GS... OKC gave Hartenstein more than anybody else would've offered... Monk and Claxton were off the table before FA even started🤷🏿♂️
this team needed a point guard not a shooting guard lmao jalen suggs plays better at the 2 weltman is a complete idiot for not taking advantage of 55 million in cap space to actually improve team. instead this clown runs it back again and completely ignores this team needs... he should be fired for that.
