The case for and against the Orlando Magic signing Klay Thompson

- Undoubtedly, Klay Thompson's shooting and gravity would be a major addition for the Orlando Magic and dramatically change what their offense can do. But he is also clearly on the decline and his elite shooting was merely pretty good last year. That might help the Magic but does Thompson fit the window the Magic are aiming to compete. And is this the right place to make the Magic's major investment?

We need Klay! Not for Klay! But for Paolo and Franz!!!!!
He's low key right having someone like klay on the floor would open the hole up for Paolo and franz even tho klay didn't have a good season teams are still going to respect his shooting not to leave him open
after klay and paul george the next big free agent for orl is dangelo russell. he is a guy that opposing teams have to defend. yes we all kno he struggles against denver the same way kyrie struggles against boston but no one can say kyrie doesnt help dallas win games and dlo would make a big impact for orl especially with 3 pt shooting and will only cost cap space seems like ur against signing anyone impactful.. every player especially a good offensive player is gonna have flaws

I don't see why giving him a 3 year contract is bad in the eyes of some. The new CBA will make his contract look fine 2 years in. He's what we need to take this team to the next level.
Because everyone can see he is clearly in the decline. Already at 34. He will be 37 at the end of that deal. The Magic ain't stupid.
Just think of klay as Gary Harris on steroids
That is actually my concern. The problem with Gary Harris is the Magic couldn't get him enough shots.
This is why dlo is the best fit for us.. he takes some playmaking and shot creating pressure off of paolo and franz.. he can get his own shot klay can’t
As a warriors fan I definitely think we should resign klay. 3 year $18 mil a year, i dont see that as a bad sign. I definitely think we should get paul George as well!
He will get more than that from someone else. The Magic would certainly love for him at $18m. Changes the conversation I just had completely.
@@LockedOnMagicthats if he wants to leave the warriors to go to the magic right? Alot of times its not always only about the money. Some players late in their career will take a paycut to be where they want to be.
if its not klay thompson or paul george than who? i can tell u monk, tyus, simons is not going to do much for orl. there all bench players on contending teams. monk was the third best player on the kings and there ceilng was a 1st rd exit and in orl he would be the same except the magic dont hv a big like sabonis to run the pick roll with. the magic only have the cap space now and wasting it on bench players is the wrong move period. go ask paolo if hes ready to win now or in 2 seasons and see his response
Wasting it on a declining 34 year old is an even worse scenario.

@@stevec4189 they just need him to space the floor and be a provide a bucket here and there as long as he buys in to the defensive mindset this team has they will be fine j Suggs all defense and JI is elite off the bench aswell as AB and Franz being as underrated a defender as he is even with monk we would have an elite defensive unit with better scoring and shooting ability

You're looking at it the wrong way. That's not that much money and will be even less in the following years with the CBA. We wouldn't be signing him for him, we'd be signing him for the betterment of Paolo and Franz. We need to start bringing in notable free agents to also boost the buzz of our organization amongst the future free agents we'll need when we start contending. Trust me, you're looking at it the wrong way.
@@iamjesuscolon gotta understand something magic havent signed a big free agent since 07 when they signed rashard lewis so magic fans are used to signing bench players and 3rd stringers which is why they get excited for guys like tyus jones malik monk and not players that have a winning resume and can still help a team win
Between ingles and fultz they made 28mil. I’d give that to klay instead any day of the week. He can also help in development of Jett and Caleb.
