- The rumor mill is starting to spin as free agency draws nearer for the Orlando Magic and the rest of the league. The last news opens the door wide open for the Magic to pursue Paul George if that is what they want to do. They also have a major question to ask themselves about Jalen Suggs and what his future role is for the team.

He would be like Boston adding Jrue. He's that guy on defense and he won't have to carry the team. Affordability and length of contract are another thing.

I agree with PG as an archetype of what we need in a player and vet presence, but he doesn't really fit our timeline, in my humble opinion. If we're being realistic and say our contendership timeframe is, let's say, 2- 3 years minimum, I would have to wonder how much PG will be a knockout factor on a really big contract when we need him the most. Paolo is only 21, Franz 22, and Jalen 22/23 after all, so they're still developing as our main guys. I suppose it could go either way, because PG is a beast, and beasts gonna beast, but do we gamble on that? I'm a bit torn. Ditto with Klay as well.

@@MrHashbrownie101 he was part of the lineup that won 9 straight and improved dramatically over the year as a 3 point shooter. He also has the potential to be as good or even a better defender than Suggs. Has a very mature game for his age. He may not become any of those things but the potential is definitely there.
I say hell no to Lavine and Klay they both depend on other to created play for them. I want Paul George he’s a good fit he can handle the ball create play, he shoot over 40% 3pts fg last season and he can defend but I think the Magic are targeting their hometown boy Anfernee Simmons he fit their aged timeline
I just don’t see PG leaving the Clippers for the Magic.

No Monk for the Magic. Sounds like his team had an idea the Magic were leaning toward the washed up types like George and/or Thompson. Enjoy the back halves of those contracts when those guys are over 36!
I'm confident the Magic aren't really going after those guys to be honest.
Paul George ain’t washed I swear you see a players age and disregard his actual play pg plays d and stretches the floor he’s an elite scorer and way above average defender who has experience the locker room needs he’d be a great fit at the 2 imagine Suggs-PG13-Franz-P5-Dell/Zach edey
@@goldenRobot712 washed is certainly a bit strong, but it's fair to say he's nearing the twilight years of his career, and the OP made the point that the BACK half of his contract was an issue. He's 36 or whatever, and sure, he's still playing at a high level, but father time is undefeated, and each year will be progressively worse. He'd certainly be a fit, no doubt, but paying him at 38, 39...
Edit: I'm not sure if PG is 36 or not, but I think the point is fair. He will be late 30s on the back end of a deal.
