THANK YOU AGAIN for addressing the value of the boxes and continuing to hammer home that the value of these are not as good as precons from the past. Especially the breakdown per dollar.
Indeed, the honesty is greatly appreciated
This is why I love the Command Zone. They aren't massaging the numbers or excusing the price. They are being open and honest, more so than WOTC atm. Thanks Command Zone for doing what you can to hold WOTC accountable.
I really appreciate that this channel for keeping things mostly positive while still addressing issues in the hobby
Now, if WOTC would actually LISTEN to folks like these guys, MTG would be a far better product in general and fans would be a lot happer. I doubt they will, though.
Maybe I missed it, but I think its is worth mentioning. The Encore tokens of Sliver Gravemother are not your commander, and wont do command damage. Command damage can only be dealt by the physical card, not tokens or copies.
still mad about the mana base bro, it feels like wizards are getting more and more distant from their players
Agreed, there's no reason at least the battlebond lands shouldn't be in every precon
Actually they can make a really good mana base very stable for the same price they juste have to include painland instead of some tapland and the manabase is directly beter
I would submit feedback at wizards. It is a little difficult but still they need to know in writing officially
Planeswalker Party & Eldrazi Unbound precon land base are awesome tho!
They wasted a perfect chance to give us some reprints of decent duels or fetch lands.. or creating some sort of work around to make this viable. Hasbro is making more and more mistakes
So unfortunate this deck doesn't have a Sliver Hive reprint
That would've somewhat repented for the price jump
Also the card desperately needs a reprint
Idk a $12 card that jumped in response to this deck doesn't seem that needed of a reprint. Sure helps the reprint value somewhat. But it's not the best land ever. Keeping 5 mana open so you can create 1 sliver token is mid at best
@fdrehug7318 it's more about having effectively another command tower in a 5 color deck
@bobross8585 yeah but if that's the case sliver hive still falls low on my 5 color lands
So unfortunate this episode doesn’t have Josh and Jimmy 😔
$50 is nearly impossible to upgrade a sliver deck missing so many pieces. This is an $80 upgrade to my existing sliver deck, not the other way around.
Same here. Most of the new slivers will find a home in what I already have, I wouldn't take this and try to upgrade it to be anywhere near what I already have for slivers.
Same, there’s a few slivers that I just don’t have but have been meaning to add to the hive, this deck is getting taken apart right out the box
Unless you’re a new player realistically people are paying the 85 dollars for the deck for gravemother and the 9 other new spells. New players for sure would need to put more than 50 into it to make it more competitive. But then again slivers are inherently good as long as you can get your mana properly balanced.
@@joshoa90210 i might also want to swap out some of the copies in my existing deck for the new arts (like the humanoid ones that looked crappy), but yeah mostly its for the new slivers
Agreed… most of it in the mana base.. rough. However I cant wait for the board state to have hatchery, gemhide/manaweft, intruder alarm, hibernation, cloud shredder, and then play virulent sliver
Basal sliver enables every sliver to dodge exile removal like path, swords, or farewell. Which allows them to be encored or unearthed later with dregscape sliver because they'll be in your graveyard instead of exile.
Basal also would let you sac say a muscle sliver and bring it right back if you need a surge of damage. Also you can sac the tokens the gravemother makes to cast more stuff.
120 dollar precon deck with a 6 dollar manabase. Seems legit.
Exactly, is fking ridiculous
A 5 color precon no less 🙄
Another really good card to add: Pull From Eternity. One white mana for an instant that returns an exiled card to its owner's graveyard. Get a second Encore from your favorite Sliver.
Also, Clot Sliver combos well with Basal Sliver. Sacrifice some to save the rest.
great add. I was just wondering if there was a good way to do that
As a fan of sliver decks, I think I should note to anyone who is considering building one that it’s very easy to use Jegantha, the Wellspring as a companion. Only one sliver creature has double pip of the same color (pulmonic sliver) and you can tap it for the cost of your commander, meaning you have some insurance against getting mana screwed. Although you have to keep the companion errata in mind, it costs 3 to put it in hand, it is almost free to put into your deck.
Slivers are also generally cheaper than you think. Only one at 7 mana and four at 6. This makes Bring to Light a tutor + cast for almost any sliver in your deck if you can spend WUBRG for it, especially if you have slivers that are particularly important for your strategy. It’s an extra copy of any of the WUBRG slivers in your deck.
Obviously fetches, triomes and shocks are better than the included mana base. I really like the dual lands from the most recent Innistrad sets too, but with Nature’s Lore, Three Visits and Farseek, I would prioritize dual lands with land types.
What you wanna do w Ruka is name another tribe like dragons (for example) and use all the dragon tribal cards in the deck since Slivers are now dragons
THS! Ruka namng dragons plus Crucible of Fire for example
Zombies + Rooftop Storm
@@nickl1483or better yet, either scourge of valkas or dragon tempest to start dealing some crazy damage
Name Gods or Praetors and you can World Tree or Realmbreaker the Invasion Tree them all onto the battlefield from your library at once.
It’s also really good if you use some steal/clone effects against other tribes.
How to upgrade…. Buy gravemother, lazotep and put it into your already existing sliver deck. Otherwise the mana base alone is gonna bankrupt you if you don’t already have a decent collection going
Yup, and players who don't have a sliver deck already can suck it.
I’m not even that against tap lands but only if they can make every colour your deck needs. Vivid lands, jumpstart lands, filter lands, evolving wilds clones. There ya go a tap land mana base that makes a 5 colour deck at least playable if not optimized with fetch, shock, duals and costing an arm and leg.
I'm trying to keep my sliver deck under $100 for now and the manabase is probably the most confusing part. I'm a newer player, so I'm really struggling to know what would work and how many "tap" lands are gunna be reasonable before it just becomes a clunked up mess. I've got most of the triomes in right now and then a good few that enter tapped but give any color e.g. rupture spire. Slivers seems like such a sick tribe to build, but the starting point is rough.
@@NickTheGuy1993 if your going on budget lean heavily into green and just throw in cultivate, Kodamas reach, farseek etc etc all the green staple ramp. Just a triome and a cultivate will have all your colours set up
Slight correction with Basal Sliver, i think you were under the impression that having three of them (due to Encore) essentially triples the mana Slivers sac for, when in reality it actually gives all your slivers three instances of "sacrifice for 2 black", meaning having multiple is essentially as useless as Tripling a keyword Sliver
Thank goodness these videos are so close together. I can not wait(!) for their eldrazi upgrade and review
I'm so glad I bought a Sliver Queen for ~$30, at the time it was the most I'd ever spend on a MTG card, but it was my birthday so I splurged, now it is worth 10x that 😮
I wish it wasn't on the reserve list and that they'd reprint it though, I buy MTG to play MTG, I don't buy it to make money, and it would be a lot more fun to play MTG if everyone had access to all the cards at reasonable prices.
BTW keep Winged Sliver in the deck, if you don't have flying slivers then every other flying creature on the board will attack you every turn.
Yeah baby im so pumped to upgrade my 2nd 80 buck Precon 🤣
I think yall are absolutely awesome!! Thank you for some of your insight on what i can do with my sliver swarm. Im definitely going to be looking into some of the cards yall mentioned. Stay awesome!!
This is one of few times where i think the land base needs more work than the deck. I watched this deck get played on the spike feeders channel it was hard to get mana out and it was incredibly slow compared to the other decks that were released with this set of pre cons. Find all your weird untap lands and just put those in. The deck needs a better base
Yey an upgrade guide that makes it so i spend 50 Bucks and still can't play because the biggest issue of the deck wasn't actually solved...
When you hear loud and clear complaints from the command zone about a wotzy product you really know something went wrong with it. Thanks for the honesty.
The way WOTC just inserted these precons into a premium set but purposefully did not say that these precons aren't "premium" from the beginning yet charging premium pricing is straight robbery. They shan't get another preorder out of me.
They did actually come forward and say these aren't premium products but only AFTER everyone lost it after seeing the decklists. They know exactly what they're doing.
I hope that after they have reviewed the 4 pre-cons that there will be at least one episode with all 3 of them (Jimmy, Josh, and Rachel) where they talk about this trend of the reprint value being less and less and what their thoughts on this in regards to the future of Magic as a whole is.
That's usually the end of year episode. But I'll tell you right now magic has a game is fine, despite what many would tell you. I am a firm believer that well Hasbro is generally scummy the community is showing time and time again that it can save the game should I ever go to a real bad breaking point
@@peeporiot9948 Maybe the fact that the pre-cons have been like this warrants a mid-year video of the same nature. So that any consumer can do anything is laughable. Saying that the players can make an it is just silly. Hasbro has the same power as any other company, like Amazon, and even if the online community is loud, there will also be those not online or don't care about the online talking points and will buy it anyway. It's better to think logically and use historically evidence then believe something will occur that might not.
@@Naruto00704did you not see how the outcry online caused Hasbro to backtrack on D&D? It's not insane to posit that the community safeguards the game. In terms of warranting a mid-year discussion, I think you could argue that for these precons but not for precons in general. These ones sting more because they're double, the normally priced ones have consistently been a good value this year.
@@peeporiot9948 Hasbro kinda needed to walk that back because that controversy I believe also occurred around the same time that the DnD movie was being released, so they didn't want anything to impact it.
The normal pre-cons have been good and I am getting the Wilds pre-cons and might be getting the Ixalan ones depending on how they look. However, there should be more acknowledgement around the fact that the Commander Masters precons are $80 and, according to Blake Rassmusen, a WotC employee and mouth-piece for WotC, this set is not premium.
If this set is not seen as Premium in the eyes of WotC themselves, then I fear that these 4 precons are a test case to see if they can push the price of pre-cons to be this much on the regular.
Sliver hive is reserved For the collectors boosters as a chase card
Good thing I bought a foil one from the 2015 Core Set a year ago.
Thank you for the video! I like the chemistry you 2 have. I think its the first video ive seen from you all. Liked and subbed.
Green has gotten a lot of self mill recently. After this video im going to search for them, because ill have a lot of fun playing that route. I just bought this precon and I can't wait to be able to play it and change it up.
Wizards could have sold these for 60$ a piece and would have a standing ovation.
Agreed at least have them in equal measures to the LOTR at the 60 mark, that one new cards new I.P. this one more power, better reprints.
LOL yeah right, you all would've fucking complained either way.
I would have been excited for $60. 40 for standard set precons, 60 for everything outside that seems more than fair
@@bobross8585If you say so. 😂
Cringe aside, 60 would have been way better than this mess, any idiot knows that. If they wanted to sell them at this price, they should have put in better mana bases and not literally the same as the Jared precon.
$60 would put the value per dollar spent at $2.55, which is within the range of all the other precons. This makes me think it was the plan until very late in the game. I'm guessing Hasbro had to make up earnings for one of their other many failing branches by leeching off Magic again.
I will be buying this set! I miss my slivers sooooo much
If your looking for a buget mana base fix. My plan gates with heros plaze; navagation orb, explor the underdark circuis rout and up the basic land count. Its the cheepest possibility way to upgrade it. Also always search for gondo gate first that way your gates come in untwpped
Gates with gondo and a few non basic land tutors is the best budget mana option.
I was just thumbing through my slivers deck and noticed that one of the secret lair bonus cards, Opaline Sliver, has a quote from Rukarumel's field journal. Haven't seen anyone mention that she was a known character in magic yet so I wanted to point it out! Looks like the reference was on the original Time Spiral card.
As someone who's main sliver deck is Sliver queen I love Basal sliver due to its combo potential. Seeing what all came in the deck I can't wait to pull it apart and absorb it into my existing hive (I already have the majority of the suggested upgrades). But I am also potentially interested in getting a second Gravemother to build her own deck around.
Go old school with a heart stone and ashnods altar
I actually think rukarumel is the more interesting commander to upgrade based on because you can start adding other creatures with good effects and make them all slivers
Or using white token generators for sliver armies.
One sliver I didn't see on the decklist which might be a decent include, and is less than a dollar, last I checked, is Leeching Sliver. It's 1B for a 1/1 sliver that deals 1 damage to the defending player when a sliver creature you control attacks. Really good if you are going wide. Also, given how cheap a lot of slivers are, CoCo is a solid inclusion.
Would that work with poison?
Not sure. It’s basically ping damage, not combat damage, so I’d assume it would depend on the specific language of the card turning the damage into poison
Rukarumel, biologist combo with the world tree is a nice set up. You can pump out all your slivers from your deck. I run this and it's a lot of fun. Rukarumel as my commander too
For Rukarumel, it actually could be interesting if you’re playing against a tribal deck (elves, goblins, et al) where they have something that buffs all of that type… so you could essentially “borrow” your opponents efforts.
Great point
Amusingly Sidewinder Sliver does well with encore because each instance of flanking triggers.
For precons youll be lucky to find for under $100, they really dropped the ball on these
This one is closer to 150 than 100
Amazon has or had them locked in at $85-$90. Doesn’t make it right just saying
They are dropping quite a lot in Europe, and this is before release.
Yep in Europe it fell to nearly 70€ and is now stable at mid 80€ though thats with tax
I got mine for $90 :D
Personally back in the day would run wild pair in my sliver deck and it was kind of amazing
Gem Hide sliver & Manaweft sliver.
Auto includes if they are not already in the deck.
Get rid of 2 of those taplands.
Haunting Voyage is another card that I would consider, and Relflections of Littjara, both great tribal cards that add to the themes. Another on is Embalmer's Tools, which will give a discount on Encore abilities. Moritte of the Frost is a Shapeshifter clone, so will benefit from all of the sliver synergies and be an extra copy of whatever you have already.
Hunting sliver is one i would always add as it pretty much turns your slivers into creatureremoval
Reflections of littjara works so well in this deck. I'm also a huge fan of sliver legion. You encore sliver legion, all slivers get +3/+3 for each other sliver you control. That's a finisher right there.
I think you guys missed the point of the alternate commander, you can make all your slivers goblins or elves. But you know what else you can do? You can make all your slivers gods, and you may ask yourself why would I want to do that? And I would tell you the world tree is why. Or maybe you want to make them praetors, and you know throw realm breaker in... She is more of a combo version of a sliver deck, and she's probably way more glass cannon than most people would like. Which is exactly why I'm going to build her
I feel the point they were going for is that she is much stronger her own deck that would be better built a bit different. (Have both realmbreaker and world tree in the deck and choose base on which you get first)
@@DuxBellorum13 That's kind of what I thought too but then she gave the example of naming sliver and I was like wait a minute
Played 3 games with my brothers with this deck when I got it. The first 2 were fine. Then the 3rd one I hit 8 tapped lands with regular draw, card draw, Hollowhead Sliver, and Capricious Sliver. Definitely changing that.
It is wild that i had preordered this at $85, have $50 of potential upgrades and have not touched the mana base. Wanted to start slivers but not yet apparently.
I have a sliver queen combo deck but im primarily a aggro player so i was instantly excited to have a another sliver deck that is more "casual" aggro
Rukarumel makes slivers plus any other tribe exciting. Sliver goblins, Sliver dragons, sliver humans, sliver elves, etc. Reducing the cost to cast with goblin or dragon spells, spells that due damage for how many goblins you have, spells that do damage for power do dragons upon etb, are all better with adding slivers to those types. She makes slivers almost like a changeling for the other type!
I love the addition of Rachel to the team. Her insight on cards, combos etc is great. Great job on the upgrade y'all. I agree that Sliver Hive would have been a phenomenal reprint. Slivers are always going to be pricey because they're that good.
I would consider adding Noxious Assault as a finisher. either your opponents are going to take a bunch of damage to the face or they block and get a lot of poison counters. Also if you're going to be adding poisonous, why not add some of the corrputed cards such as Phyrexian Altar, Vat of Rebirth (when Sliver Grandmother's casting cost is super high), Glistening Sphere,
They made new cards that essentially do the same thing as Sliver Hive. I really don't think they needed to reprint the land.
Great job with this video
Teferi's Veil better than Sundial of the Infinite. Your attacking with the slivers anyway, and if there phased out, they can't be sacrificed. Also goes for about 1.00 at its peak a few months ago. Only have to pay for it once, and people who don't know better won't target it as early. Only downside is lack of blockers, but if you don't run vigilance and turn sideways a lot, then your not missing much.
Thank you for criticizing the value.
With Basal Sliver or Manaweft Sliver or Gemhide Sliver, Clot Sliver saves half your board from a Blasphemous Act or any number of other board wipes. Regenerate isn't super powerful, but paying two mana for each creature you want to save isn't as out of reach as it would be elsewhere.
Just for transparency on price point. For retailers to make what is the standard mark up in the table top specialty space, and justify the wholesale cost of these commander decks, the shelf price will have to sit between $100 and $110. A retailer could sell them for the $80 mentioned in the video but they will be taking a substantial hit to their margin to do so, for little to no gain.
This was an amazing video. I'm going to buy this deck to get me started, but I will tweak it a bit also with some old school flair. Basically, I'm just looking for an excuse to use my Sliver Queen.
Meanwhile this Sliver deck sells for 165$ here in Norway... ugh... Just why? *sigh*
Cilantro sliver for the food tokens is an auto include and coriander sliver is the same but for all slivers and not just the American slivers.
If you have cards that make certain types cost less throw them in and use Wizard girl to make slivers count as them then boom cheaper slivers. Also dont pump gaveyard too fast since you can only encore each card once unless you have a way to return from exile.
Rukarumel is for mixing tribal decks together.. picture mixing vampires along with the slivers.. which I might do... vampires have different kinds of synergies that has way more sorceries, enchantments, and instances to back them up.
One of my best friends quit playing in Scars block. He heard about the sliver deck and Eldrazi deck and was planning on getting both, and the price changed his mind and he didn't come back to the game.
I feel like they are not really getting the encore but like the slivers comeback for one combat phase and are then exiled. If any one of the slivers that gave regenerate were legendary and five colours they would be better. Or one with undying slivers want to stick around not like the viashino
What would help against the downside (most of the time) of sacrificing your tokens to the encore effect, running sundial of the infinite helps. Idk if it’s in the precon or not but it’s a nice inclusion
How would you go about fixing the mana curve? I've been away from the game for a awhile and got this for the same reason as your friend. I've loved slivers since they first came out.
Rachel intro: "Here is the sliver hive! Oh sorry sliver swarm..."... yep sliver hive is NOT in this deck. I don't know if she did this on purpose but that was brilliant😉
They sure wouldnt call it sliver hive :p
Sliver legion seems insane in this deck
I just made this comment. You encore sliver legion and that's your win con. +3/+3 for each other sliver you control? That's insanity.
Crazy how Sliver Hive jumped to $40 from $10 now
I'm glad I bought a foil one a year ago then. I think it was around 10$
10 cards to upgrade the mana base?
I have the original, so the only reason I'd keep rukarumel is because seedborn muse combined with the "tap sliver to gain mana" is just so nice of a wincon
I think ive won every game once i have indestructible plus shroud with the 2 slivers that grant that. Everytime those 2 have been out, I dont remember losing. That and having counterspells and evasion for boardwipes help
When I started playtesting against my own decks I realized how easily some decks fall down to indestructible creatures. With no way to handle the board I just call the match lol.
Let me introduce you to World Slayer. Equip once Slivers are indestructible. Even better when also unblockable.
It's correct to hammer home that the price is absurd. But to be fair, they did something that's unusual to make Sliver Players still be excited for this product: All the ugly Predator Slivers got fresh and beautiful new classical Sliver artworks. 17 new Artworks for old Slivers overall. This is really great and I appreciate it. The other Decks didn't have that though.
I just ordered this precon and while i might be overdoing it, my plan is to use the 2nd commander in combination with realmbreaker, the invasion tree to give all my creatures the type "praetor" and then use the realmbreaker to summon my entire deck at once. And if they board wipe it, i plan on bringing everything back by using encroaching mycosyth and wake the past.
Basal Sliver's an activated ability. You don't get 6 mana, unfortunately. It's huge and pays for the encore of a ton of other slivers, so it is one of the best slivers, but the mana stays at 2.
I think they mean 6 mana as in sacrificing themselves gets 6
Yeah they mean 6 total - 3 basal slivers x2 each.
Another thought that these upgrade videos should probably address. If I spend $40 on a precon, spending another $20 on upgrades is probably okay; if I spent $80, then spending a further $20 makes the overall price exorbitant. This is compounded by specific high cost omissions (Sliver Hive) that might eat up that entire upgrade budget.
My current sliver deck is a hive lord deck with silver legion as a hidden commander
I like how they say around $80 when this precon is still $110. It has come down from the $150 initial presale amount, but it needs to drop a lot more to get to the $80 they have quoted on the show.
I locked one in from Amazon at $80 like a week ago. When they first had them they were $100 plus and the price kept dropping.
I locked one in from Amazon at $80 like a week ago. When they first had them they were $100 plus and the price kept dropping.
@@Justadadonthetok Thanks for letting me know. When I check Amazon now they are $105. Apparently the price went back up.
... rukarumel makes herself a sliver. She's basically a fixed sliver queen.
Sliver queen doesn't tap to make a sliver
@DuxBellorum13 that's why I said fixed.
Yeah this deck is more of an upgrade to my current high power sliver deck. It was def sad to not see so many sliver staples not in this deck.
Got a link to your current sliver decklist?
If you use Rukarumel as the main commander, against commanders like Anawon the rune sage it helps, if you arent going with the graveyard strategy
"You double the price, you get double the scrutiny." Hell yeah get 'em!
The omission of sliver hive is mindboggling given the frankly awful mana base of this thing
Kindred Discovery sounds like a quick way to deck yourself out
I haven't seen 3 color sliver commander decks before, I have seen 3 color oathbreaker sliver tribal before though with Tamiyo, field researcher as the Oachbreaker and Finale of Devastation as the signature card. the professor made the deck on his channel some time ago.
Edit: so I combed through the mana base of this deck. I own all the fetches and shocks, so I can buy cheap proxies of them for 4 $ without feeling guilty, there are 23 lands that you can take out and replace with better ones and I didn't even put all 10 fetches and shocks in here, I put all the triomes that have land types on them and a couple of bond lands (Spire garden and Bountiful promenade). I wanted to have at least 1 basic land left of each type to enable the "have lands" (canopy Vista, cinder glade etc.) already in the deck. I'd say, if you want to buy all 23 lands for full price, you are looking at 200-300 $ because 1 land I put in is Cavern of Souls. I think Obeka or whatever she's called that ends your turn is great along with that sundial of the infinite. all together: 41 cards were removed and added, that is over 2/5 of the deck. but the sliver deck has been a pet project of mine for a long time I never got around to building and now gosh darn it I'm gonna do it. Mondrak is pretty sweet here too if you can afford it. when you encore you get 6 slivers instead of 3.
As someone that plays Winota a lot, I can tell you, always finding what you want in the top 6 cards is fairytale land at best. I have whiffed a lot in Winota.
50:10 Jimmy Wong Plays for the Ancestors
Jimmy exclaimed with excitement, "Hold my Mountain Josh, this is one of the best cards in the deck!", and everyone else at the table groaned in response. Josh quickly realized the potential danger, as Jimmy could potentially draw three or even four Slivers from the top of his library. The game could end right then and there.
But to everyone's surprise, Jimmy revealed the top six cards of his library, and not a single Sliver was among them. This caused a wave of laughter to ripple through the group. Disappointed, Jimmy wore a sad expression as he muttered, "Well, you can't win them all." He then passed his turn.
Thoughts: Would Thassa Deep Dwelling be good to blink ETB slivers?
Did I miss the mention of the new cards in general or for the value in the deck?
IDK I don’t think Gravemother does anything at all for slivers, like yes it gives you 3 to 1 bodies but regenerate is just a better option to keep them around, yes you don’t want slivers in the graveyard but you want them even less in exile since you have reanimation things you can do to get them back. If Rukarmel didn’t tap herself to make a body I would say she would be the go to since then she’s a budget sliver queen.
They keep saying $40 precons, but I’ve never seen the older precons on release be less than $50.
Most of them were $40
Until about a year/18 months ago. That’s when they went up to $50.
Nice Additions ...i Put Obeka in it too..cause of 100 Cards and one Sundial...i liked to Double my Chance cause its a Coreability of this Deck .
And then there is the Manabase...with this the Update gets expensive quickly but there is No choice If you want this Deck perform well
Sliver Legion is a must for the encore effect.
Basal Sliver is dope with encore.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for saying bluntly that the price creep is abismal. Yours is the only real voice (compared to us) towards WoTC on this matter, so PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
Rukarumel has a home in my competitive sliver deck as she will turn my dorks, biomancer's familiar and Zirda into slivers and make them easier to tutor and protect allowing me to do a bunch of very stupid infinite shenanigans.
I was kinda hoping they would cover the new cards. Not from a financial standpoint, but from a whats in the deck and how are we upgrading view.
Basal, dormant, and mindlash sliver 😅. Also the damage sliver and blas act 😂
Honestly, I think Sliver Overlord is a better commander overall. With Gravemother, you can't tutor for the sliver you need. Once you get Crystalline and the Hivelord out, you are sitting pretty with hexproof and indestructible. I proxied Gravemother and tested her out with my current deck and struggled. My opponents had plenty of graveyard removal and anti-recursion tricks too.
Yeah but Overlord is $75. Deck could probably also use a Mana Crypt but I’m certainly not buying one
Would Obeka be another good include alongside sundial of the Infinite? Sure it’s not a sliver but a second chance at keeping all of your encore-ed slivers alive would be sweet. 46:33
Would something like training grounds work? Would it apply to cards in the graveyard since gravemother gives them the ability? Ex: a sliver card that cost two mana would only cost one because the encore cost is equal to its mama cost.
I was rereading how encore worked when you put up sliver gravemother at the end and realized that sundial of the infinite only let you keep them till the end of your opponents next turn because it says "at the beginning of the next endstep" not the beginning of your next end step unless I just understood it incorrectly you can't keep them forever with sundial of the infinite.
The "Sacrifice them at the beginning of the next end step" part is a delayed trigger of the encore effect (not an effect given to the creature token(s)) that goes onto the stack in the end step. Once it's on the stack, you can activate Sundial of the Infinite in response to end the turn. This will exile the sacrifice trigger from the stack, preventing it from resolving, and nothing will be sacrificed. Once that sacrifice effect has been put onto the stack it will never trigger again, regardless of whether the effect resolved.
I swear, every time I watch a video with him in it, I hear my name.
As someone who has two sliver decks. I would agree that the mana base is pretty bad. And to get better mana base, some of the cards will cost you some money. For example, sliver hive is now $40. And you will need cavern of souls. Ancient ziggurat is cheap I believe. I would also keep winged sliver because it’s evasion. You want flyers and your opponents will quickly kill the galerider and the cloud shredder sliver. Winged just helps. I think shifting sliver will help as all.
Im surprised hatchery sliver wasnt mentioned. That card is Broken.
Rachel to piece of paper: Get outa here bro!
