Pushing Brawl so hard but not putting it where it's clearly meant for (Arena) still remains so baffling to me. Sure, Arena doesn't have multiplayer support, but the better question then is why doesn't it have multiplayer support, given that so many popular formats are multiplayer?

I feel like it would be a ton of work to implement, plus you'd have to ask 3 different players if they had responses sometimes- I still think they should though, since it's better to do it now than later when it's more work

Arrennia that’s not correct. The effect is ended, and the creature returns to its owner’s control. It’s under rule 800.4a. Only permanents OWNED by the losing player are removed from the game, not permanents CONTROLLED by the losing player.
Mistake at 54:50 Niv was grabbed from the Battlefield, so the moment the control effect ends, he goes back to Emma. He should only get exiled/commandzoned if he came into play under Jimmy's control, so there isn't an original controller to go back to. Edit: see comp rules 800.4a
That rule only applies to continous and temporary gain control effects (like mind control and act of treason mentioned in the examples for that rule). Entrancing Melody on the other hand is a one-shot effect, it happens once and then the game no longer acknowledges its existence. It is not something that can "end" at a later time.
My apologies then. Still find it weird that the examples of rule 800.4a mentions every other type of gain control effect, but not the one-shot types, especially since its quite an obscure rules interaction that doesn't work how most would expect it to.

The Hostage Taker pirate stealing Treasure Map sums up everything I love about Commander. I think it was done because it was ideal, but whether or not it was the right move or the wrong move, it was the Commander move.
I think they avoid loop combos because it's such an underwhelming way to win in casual play. they also avoid spells that slow the game ie. Sensei's top, Lim Dul's Vault Pillow fort strategy and so on

Just a quick rules call, the Mizzet should have returned under Emma's control after Jimmy died as stated in: 800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the game and any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end. Then, if that player controlled any objects on the stack not represented by cards, those objects cease to exist. Then, if there are any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. This is not a state-based action. It happens as soon as the player leaves the game. If the player who left the game had priority at the time he or she left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s still in the game.
Man, I can't wait till brawl comes back in some way. There's a game there, and I am keeping my scorpion god brawl deck just for it. This video keeps my hopes up

I always have trouble understanding this. Is it really that bad to change up your deck once in a while? Doesn't it get boring playing the same cards constantly?
@@JohnSmith-ty9cr I can't speak for everyone else, but my friends and I are real casual players. We each have several decks and with commander having 100 card decks, it always feels different no matter how many times certain decks are played against each other. Plus, keeping up with standard can get pretty expensive for me. I usually just use cards that I have.
@@LeftyRedd Fair points. Though I think the cost wouldn't be such an issue for Brawl. Feels like you could just dig through the $1 bin for each new set and come up with something sweet (and if you do go for something pricier, you need only one copy) I could be wrong though.
After watching everything of Command Knights, and going back to these older episodes, I miss when they built decks like these instead of playing only with precons
I kinda love the circular structure of Cedric starting off by calling card draw the best part of the game, and then after having his faith in it tested for a few turns after that board wipe, it ultimately became how he won. It feels satisfying, from a narrative standpoint.
Why do I feel like Cedric is an absolute buffoon for letting his opponent that he intended to 1v1 draw 6 cards with that much mana? Like I feel like that was a really really dumb play to get rid of jimmmy because he didn’t even seem like a threat at all. I mean eh. Not my game but I could feel Jimmy’s frustration.
Hostage Taker only gives back what it has stolen if that card is still exiled. If you cast it before then, you will get to keep it when Hostage Taker leaves.

Brawl works fine for people who go on shows like this and build new decks every month. Where it doesnt work is the real world where people build 1-3 commander decks in a year...
I don't get that line of argument. Why does rotation scare people so much? Brawl decks are cheap. You need only one copy of a chase rare and you can even get by just with draft chaff tier rares if you want.

The limitations and rotation of sets make it hard to keep up with rather build voltron than a brawl deck Tbh oathbreaker is even better than brawl but they dont wanna cover it
Sniperfuchs but brawl doesnt focus on walkers its just standard edh and you CAN have your general as a walker but oathbreak makes you use a walker as your general and a spell so its even better in war cause some walkers have x card like Domri and Domri’s ambush so you can really hit some nice flavor with the deck you build.
Late-game: Emma - I'll pretend that I'm a threat so Cedric kills my stuff instead of me Jimmy - I'll pretend I'm nonthreatening so nobody kills me Cedric - I'll just keep countering my enemy who counters me so maybe I can keep something on the board Josh - I'm dead
Really good game despite it being brawl it was very commander-like. Only thing I can't get behind in this format is basically card rotation, but feel free to make more brawl videos, it's entertaining to watch.
How come Niv-mizzet reborn goes back into Emma’s commandzone after Emma kills Jimmy. Since niv-mizzet was on the battlefield, doesn’t it go back to its owner’s control on their side of the battlefield?
Not gonna lie; I couldn't guess who would take the game. The variables of MtG just don't let guesses assume the winner. This game knight episode was a tasty, spicy treat that I'm gonna share with my non-magic-players friends. This is what magic is about! Constructed chaos and lots of fun with friends!

Did Jimmy cast Finale of Revelation? If so, it gets exiled after it's cast, so Flood of Recollection wouldn't have been able to return it to his hand.
