One tip for the bins is to put at the bottom a piece of absorbent paper with essential oil, this will do two things, one it to absorb any possible liquid from the bag and the other is to make it smell good. Everytime I change the bag, I also change this piece of paper.

I double bag my bins and put a kitchen paper between them - I only replace the second/bottom one if any leakage
As someone who also likes to hoover, I'm happy to see someone who probably would not look at me like I should be instutionalized when I tell them that I run the vacuum at least daily😂. I've started to store my glassware that isn't used that often upside down. It collects less dust this way (apart from the base), and is easier to clean quickly when I pull it out to use. A damp cloth will do it and I don't have to hand wash everything every time I need to dust the shelves, which is pretty much a monthly task with my dark shelves.
Although I do love watching these kind of videos Emma, I have to say that it makes me feel like a dirty so & so in comparison. Admittedly I love a clean house myself, but am incapable of putting this much effort into it. I take my hat off to you; you do a brilliant job!!
We are definitely on the more extreme side of the cleaning spectrum but we don’t have kids and we work from home from so we have more time to dedicate to keeping our home like this. From my side more personally though, I have ADHD and having a really clean home keeps me more focused. I’m far less distracted by little things which can hinder my working day and a good clean is also like another little work out that keeps me busy and focused so it’s a positive thing for me 😊

@@EmmaHill You have ADHD? Wow. I was just watching this video thinking Emma can probably pulll this off but my ADHD could never let me clean like this. Now im blown away. Could you please share some tips on how you stay organized whilst also doing your creative projects? Maybe make a video about it? :) It would really help because I can either be creative OR have a clean organized home. Would love it if a fellow ADHD woman could share some insight. BTW I have lots of allergies, like Simon. This year I went gluten-free and it's made a massive improvement in my allergic reactions, no hay fever at all!

Another great Sunday morning - brunch out then watching your weekly vlog! I love your cleaning videos and would definitely be up for seeing more! Perhaps the deep clean of the upper floor? You may know this already but one tip for the fridge I use is laying kitchen roll in the bottoms of the veg/fruit containers. I replace this each week and it makes the containers easy to clean plus draws the excess moisture from the veg/fruits so keeps them fresher longer. I'm another who does vacuum each day - just the high traffic areas until I do the deep of each room in weekly rotation. thank you for sharing your cleaning routine Emma. my husband has dust mite allergies so this is the level of clean we try to maintain. he is a canary in a coal mine letting us know that our standards have slipped when his symptoms appear. it is a fair bit of work but his health is much better and we both get to enjoy a very clean home.

Love the Pink Stuff for cleaning the oven. Safes me a lot of time since the strong oven cleaners are no longer available here.

You two are very thorough cleaners. I also put my rugs out to get some air after I shake them out. I also shake out my bedspread and throw blankets and let those sit out for a couple hours to get some fresh air.

I have washable Ikea slipcovered sofa and chair, and i put the covers back on from the wash, and just smooth out the wrinkles. I usually do it in the evening, and the sofa is out of commission for about a day, while it all dries. I have pets and white covers and furniture still looks good. Like you, I have
white blankets down and they get shaken out, and washed more frequently
Does this not cause any issues with the cushions absorbing the moisture? We couldn't keep the pups off of our for more than 5 minutes 😆🤦♀️🥰
@@EmmaHill been doing it this way for about 5 years. Don't put the couch back together till all dry, have cushions propped up and sofa and chair not usable for about 24 hours. There is grumbling, but i try and ignore it, lol

Great video. I hate ironing and finally took m8ne to the tip! I use a steamer for everything- it is brilliant. For Simon and his hayfever - tumble dry clothes and sheets and try local honey. Thus really helped me as harvest around our village was a nightmare for my hay fever.

Thanks for the info on the jute rug. I love how they look and that they are natural. I am still on the fence about getting one for my bedroom. I will continue to ponder , but will also look into a washable rug.

I watched your video this morning and unconsciously while waiting for the coffee machine to wake up and make my coffee emptied a cupboard wiped it out and put things away minus a few unwanted bits, influenced!!!!😂😂😂 Great work you two as usual x

Can I offer a suggestion regarding carpet/mat cleaning? you have a lawn available, lucky woman! lay the carpet upside down, leave it overnight (better if it doesn't rain! Italian summer in my experience) and the next morning you will find dust etc under the carpet that has fallen onto the grass... you will clean the grass and your carpet will be clean and fragrant !! teaching from my grandmother which I hope will be of interest and useful to you and everyone here! a warm greeting from the torrid Tuscan summer!!

There’s no paving in front of my house and the dust is unbelievable. I do an extra-thorough cleaning after the first rains come in autumn, they help lay the dust for the winter months. In my Mediterranean climate, there is rain only in winter.
Oh now I feel like a real dirt bag, I haven't cleaned my kitchen cupboards for years 😔, having said that they're actually in pretty good shape and I wipe as I need to. What do you clean the cupboard doors with? Mine get greasy and washing up liquid is the only thing that really gets it off but it's hard getting the foam off afterwards!! x

Emma a steam cleaner will change your life - try a TVD - I did have Kharcher however the TVD is more powerful a has more tools ⚒️
I have a H20 steamer but only use it in the bathrooms really x

Hi Emma, my oven looks a lot like yours and the side rails in the oven are easy removable. That makes it easy to clean the sides of the oven, if you detach the side rails.
Yes they come out easily enough. Simon did do the sides it was just cut from the video in order to keep the clips and the voice over aligned 👍
Im truly fortunate to have a cleaning crew twice a month. I master other simple tasks on axdaily basis.

Emma, this was so timely, about to do our kitchen and family room tomorrow, being Monday here in Sydney. This has inspired me! How often do you do this sort of thorough clean?
To be honest we do most of this weekly but not all in one go. However things like taking everything out of every cupboard I do once every 3 months (once a season) x

Love this useful video! Are you able to use the window vacuum (used for outside door) for the inside glass door too (hallway & kitchen partition door)? Unsure because of all these effect of liquid, glass and wood stuff
Oh yes it can be used inside too 👍 you would just have to be careful if the doors are wooden (like ours) and ensure you don't use too much liquid which could cause issues with the door.

You didn’t want a self-cleaning oven? I love mine, I don’t even have to remove the racks, just run the cycle. Sometimes the glass door needs a bit of extra scrubbing, but it’s not bad, tales only a minute or two. Maybe these aren’t as popular in England as they are here in the US. When I bought my new range a few years ago, a self-cleaning oven and sealed burners were the two features I insisted on. I wanted a Wolff, but they didn’t have those features, commercial ranges generally don’t.
We did have a self cleaning oven in our last kitchen but when we looked this time all the ovens we saw with self cleaning had aspects of grey/silver on the front and we wanted a solely black oven so opted for this 👍

Do you deep clean the dishwasher?
We have dishwasher cleaners that go in with the wash that we use and then we give it a spray and a wipe as needed (if something gets spilt on the surround for example) 👍
