Lovely coat! I’m a longtime thrifter and I have found two Max Mara Icons at my local Salvation Army in Vancouver 🇨🇦. One in black and one in navy. I paid $39.00 for each which is a high price for thrift but I love them.
Holy cow really! I live in Vancouver too, may I ask which Salvation Army you went to? I know some are better than others. I have been going to Turnabout for many years but their prices are definitely much higher in recent years.
Huge congrats, Emma! Max Mara is my favourite designer hands down, not that I can afford much of their clothing 🤣, so thank God for second hand shopping. I used to work at a Max Mara boutique and studied their tailoring, and the beautiful signature stitching you mentioned in the beginning is all done by hand! 👍Also, quite a few customers would complain that they want a new coat because the one they bought twenty years ago is still like new - nothing is coming undone or pilling, there are no signs of wear, so they're just bored with it and want a new one 🤣 That's the lasting quality, so I hope that this beautiful coat serves you forever! Hello..conguratulations for your new purchase..and only for 300£, it's really a bargain. For information this coat comes with a belt but as it doesn't have passers-by it means that it's something you wear with it occasionally. If you check inside the coat, under the arm, it has passers-by in wool and that's for to keep the belt when you're not wearing. This iconic coat was made in the 80's and was reissued couple of years ago. In some countries the prize tag is over 2000€. Enjoy☺

I had the same issue with mine (the linning come loos from the sleeve). I don't have the icon version but very simulair design to the icon. And indeed its such a warm cozy coat 💖

I've been looking for a blazer to buy but they're always too expensive for me and to be honest the quality is never the best. but yesterday i found 2 blazers from my mum's wardrobe (she used to wear them when younger but now she doesn't wear rhem anymore, but she still have them bless her). they fit me perfectly, they are good quality but most of all free ahahah thank you mum! i asked her if she would mind me having them and she said "you can have them of course! this makes me so happy!" yayyyyy everyone is happy ahahah #secondhandbutgrand

Top Depop postage tip. My boyfriend does Depop and Ebay and you can open an account called ‘Drop and Go’ at the Post Office where you pre-pay postage and you literally drop bags of parcels to be processed over the counter at the post office without having to queue. So I recommend for your big Depop days opening an account so you can just walk in and plop all of your parcels over the counter and get on with your day. (You put your name in big on the bag/s you drop your parcels off in and you write on the parcel what postage you want to do ie. “1st class signed for” etc...) Hope this helps. It was a game changer when my boyfriend discovered it! 😄
Emma Hill It really is. It’s worth it if you have those manic days. It was the PO who told my boyfriend about it as they were getting overwhelmed with him bringing in loads of parcels and also you don’t feel guilty about the people behind you in the queue. Hope it helps. X

It doesn't have to be on Depop, although this is a platform I prefer. For me it depends on the listing and what Im looking for, not how many followers a seller may have. If depop isn't for you, then maybe try eBay, where you may also get a wider audience 👍🏼

Nothing wrong with them - they are from fast fashion brands like Banana Republic and Whit3 House Black Market, but I’ve been asking for very little. But I have no blog or UA-cam channel, so they get very few views.

That's such a gorgeous coat! Yesterday I wore my (very) long black belted Marella coat that I found in a Turnham Green charity shop a few years ago, and felt so snug. A shame you don't feel happy re-sewing the buttons and fixing the sleeve lining yourself, honestly it would be quite simple, but the seller should have given some token refund for not mentioning the damage

Dear Emma, love your Max Mara coat!! For the last three weeks, I am actually on the hunt for to find one for me. I search on Vestiaire mainly since eBay has the system with" bidding" which I don't really like. I would like to ask you the following: when is a Max Mara coat as " vintage" characterised? In Vestiaire there is a special category for vintage clothes but I cannot find what the criteria are for a clothing to be vintage. Do you know ?
I don't know for certain if Im honest, I thought it was that it had to be 20 years old (which is what I go by) but I have heard many variations. 👍🏼
