I heavily agree with a few lads on calling this a Holden based engine. In my opinion, if nothing from the factory is used, it is no longer a factory brand engine. It's an awesome bit of work and it sounds great, i do love it. Calling it a Holden is just taking the piss.
@Fullboost no, just those that don't use 'anything' from the factory. Most hotted up engines will still have the factory block, heads, and crank. I have a hotted up engine which still uses everything from the factory except the fluid harmonic damper, valves, valve springs and guides, camshaft and retainers. Everything else is modified but still from the factory.
I would've expected horsepower and torque numbers closer together out of a naturally aspirated engine. Impressive horsepower numbers even if torque isn't ideal. Reminds me a bit of a Honda the way it revs and makes power way out in the rev range.
Torque not ideal really? Almost 600 foot pounds from 6000 up is bloody awesome and I bet it still punches pretty hard below that. What would you consider ideal?
youd be surprised what it feels like in the real world. My own car makes peak torque of only 460nm @ 6000rpm... but it still has great acceleration from 2.5k onwards.. redlines at 8800.. it boogies
*@jeremypike9153 What the hell are you talking about??...It makes 6OO foot/pounds which is 813 Newton Metres so the power and torque are close together so it's more than ideal.*
So, what did this bad boy get put into, out of curiosity? I think that Reeves Callaway, a.k.a., the guy that is responsible for the Callaway Sledgehammer, arguably the most powerful version of the Chevrolet C4 Corvette, if not the most powerful production version of the Chevrolet Corvette, and Steve Morris, of Steve Morris Engines, would have a field day with an engine like this one.

@@johnboy5167 *I can guarantee ya shitty LS3 would sound like a wet fart compared to this stout engine Johnny Boy.*
@@johnboy5167yes must be grate fun to have what everyone else has , I'm excited ! And the Holden 5 litre injected engine is were GM got the intake and port location design for your bread and butter LS , Aussies had the LS intake design in 1988, my mate Jeff Dellow of Dellow Bell housings once said to me years ago " I'm sick to death of seeing Chev motors in everything, do something different , there are hundreds of grate designs in V8 motors " he looked around his shop at Revesby in Sydney and pointed to a motor , he said " look that's a Oldsmobile Small Block 403 ci (6.7 litre) , almost bolts straight in a Holden , do something different, don't be a sheep be a Shepard !" I put a 403 Oldsmobile Small block with a cut down 425 Olds big block crank and 455 big block heads in the 403 ( now a 520ci Small block ) behind a Turbo 200 4r over drive trans in a HQ Holden one tonner, bolted in on Holden mounts and Holden tailshaft slid straight in to 200 4r no cutting, the moral is I have a fast low cost 8.4 litre people love to look at , not the old " pop the bonnet , oh it's a LS , next car please !"
@@JosephCowen-ru7up that sounds fine if it floats your boat l will keep my ls3 there is a reason why they are used so much it's because they are very good 👍
Larry Perkins was getting 590, 600hp out of the Holden V8 in 1993/1994.
Two very different engines yes.
Not being much of a big engine/car knowledge guy... is this one of the old 5L 308 engines?! I am guessing so since it has the old school distributor on it and that is an impressive upgrade if so! Didn't think people were doing much with these old things
Do you reckon it will fit in my jimny ?!!!
Wow.!
awesome!
Billy Glidden was making this kinda power 20 years ago with a SBF💯
Last time l checked this wasn't a SBF 👍 can't people just be happy for someone...
@@fullboost Who said it was? Can't people handle facts?
Perhaps compare it to other Holden engines? Not many make north of 900.
@@johnchopp3278 His a fact, it’s not a SBF… name 2 other Holden’s making north of 900?
@@domdagostino8833 Holden who?🤣🤣
I heavily agree with a few lads on calling this a Holden based engine. In my opinion, if nothing from the factory is used, it is no longer a factory brand engine. It's an awesome bit of work and it sounds great, i do love it. Calling it a Holden is just taking the piss.
So that would cancel out just about every hotted up engine then?
So what is it if it’s not a Holden Based engine?? So World and Dart Blocks are not Chev or Fords anymore?
@Fullboost no, just those that don't use 'anything' from the factory. Most hotted up engines will still have the factory block, heads, and crank. I have a hotted up engine which still uses everything from the factory except the fluid harmonic damper, valves, valve springs and guides, camshaft and retainers. Everything else is modified but still from the factory.
@@dinosshed so you are saying that a after market stroker crankshaft is not a Holden crank?
@Dom D’Agostino yeah, it's an aftermarket stroker crank. Nothing about it is Holden.
1000 hp from an aspirated engine 👏
Where's the 1000?

It's a nice engine, I own a 5l but I'm likely going to LS swap.....
Interesting as we made over 1000 hp n/a with a holden 415 ci 2 yrs ago
Where is the engine and who is the shop?
No you didn't
@@fellowship_of_the_goat as you would know
@@klintcieslik5074 Unless you had basically the same motor as this but running on nitro meth, no you didn't.
Supposedly made more than 1.70 ft-lb per ci on racegas....thats on par or better than a prostock engine
So no link to who built the engine?? Typcial full boost...
0:40, It lists whose those blokes are and where they are from.
Never seen Holden make a 411 cube motor, must of been a secret model. Holden motor my arse
LOL...
Y'all need to build a
I would've expected horsepower and torque numbers closer together out of a naturally aspirated engine.
I can tell you HP and Torque are identical at 5252 rpm ! Lol. As is the case in all motors ever made !
@@victorpeirce4753 yeah but its at high rpm.. i think he means that it would be lacking at 2k and below.. which probably isnt the case anyway
I thought i seen roller cam bearings
A 2 inch cam tunnel makes room for rows & rows of beaut little friction deniers.
It went back into the car it came out of. A Holden Torana that ran mid 9s 👍
