What is the best way to learn engine building? I have rebuilt a few but don't know much about what to do to accomplish different characteristics or numbers by building outside of OEM or stock.
As a Holden guy I appreciate both parties and I admire the workmanship gone into this xb and you can tell the owner wanted to do it right the 1st time and only time. If I was to get my engine built it would be dandy.

Seriously doubt many Aussies would even know what a 351 Modified is ! Never sold here , most common are 302 Cleveland's and 351 Cleveland's we cast and assembled here from 1974 to 1984 ! You could get a 351 or 302 Cleveland in a ford Falcon in 1984 !
Dandy Engines did some machining work for my big bore dirt bike project, by far the best workmanship I have seen. Even though it was such a small job for them, they still put in the extra effort to make it perfect. I have a lot of respect for those guys.
Everyone now wants to work at Dandy. The workshop is state of the art and the staff are obviously expert. It was a pleasure to listen to and watch each mechanic build this motor. let's watch again.

a different way to explain the engine dyno - it doesn't free rev, the dyno applies drag and slowly lets the engine climb rpm 👍 Nice to see such nice restoration work too 😎

Very extensive perfection in the design and performance of a beautifully built Ford motor. And I'm also a Mad Max fan as well. So seeing it put into a classic 1974 xB/GS coupe was fantastic. It didn't come with a fully functional supercharger or the Monza front clip? But it's still a beautiful car and motor combination though. Great car and superb build guys.

I got the pleasure to look after and drive a work friends XB coupe, 302ci and popular 5sp conversion at the time in 1996. White with the green bonnet and stripes. I remember thinking how massive the car felt as I owned a 67 HR ute and this tank with a small steering wheel rode like a boat it was super comfy! lol. Engine needs to be big to fill the bay or maybe just a turbo or procharger to fill it out... Your name also sounds familiar...were you a Maitland boy?
@@brettus9115 I was lucky to find my 74 xb gs. I'm going to bring it back to its former glory in factory spec. Burnt orange, matching numbers clevo, pretty much the same xb in this video. It was originally from Coffey ford, Dandenong vic. Was dressed with horn car decals but i prefer the gs decals. I'm from the Maitland area 🙂
I have a '78 XC GS coupe with 351 (mocked up Moffat special), but been in bits for years. All there, just that life had a pesky way of distracting me. Only thing keeping me going, is getting that thing back on the road! Great watching these videos and reading comments like this. I'm in Tassie, but a road trip seems likely :) Good luck with your project(s)

Good to see the car owner put quality parts on the car and was very happy to see the engine builder along for the ride monitoring and adjusting the engine and tune. Great work all around. Fantastic video guys, brought back memories of dropping off gear at the original SpeedPro in Frankston. Waiting for the call to pick up and put back on the car and then feel the improvements as you drive around. I would always turn to the engine maker ads in the 90's for engine combos. Dandy was always there.

They have no trophies, they have no accomplishments, dyno graphs or anything to tell you that THEY might know what they are talking about. Add: Damn, a rare moment of jealousy! We never got the Falcons like this stateside, the lines on that car are amazing! Love the way it looks, sleek and mean! Oof, want want want!

It's such a joy to watch a craftsman work at building something designed by real engineers, and using top of the line professional tools and equipment. Naturally aspirated 866HP on pump gas. Very impressive. I LOVE sleepers. I've built a few myself and my stuff was nowhere near that clean a shiny. I'd open my hood, they'd say yeah, just another Chevy 350, *yawn*. Then I'd bet them that I could pop the front wheels off the ground and they'd laugh. 5 minutes later I have an extra $200 in my wallet. It's amazing what you can do when you match the cam, the carburetor, the stall speed and the rear axle ratio properly.

NICE TO SEE A PRO ENGINE BUILDER PUT THE CAMSHAFT IN FIRST, RATHER THAN TRY N FEED IT IN AFTER THE CRANK N RODS ARE IN. ITS WAY EASYER TO GET YA HAND IN THE BLOCK AND GUIDE IT ALONG THE CAM BEARINGS, IV BEEN DOING IT THAT WAY FOR 40 YEARS, GOOD JOB SIR. TRU PRO. CHEERS JB NZ OVER THE DITCH. DAM NICE BUILD.
