It's gonna be so awesome to meet anyone capable of handling this power for even just drag racing. They'd have to be the batshit crazy ass adrenaline chaser that dies soon after! As an American, I would like to thank Fullboost for opening my eyes to the Australian performance automotive scene 🇦🇺. Since I’ve been into Ford 351 Cleveland based engines for 40 years, the Fullboost video featuring a Dandy Engines built 461 Clevor with Higgins Race Heads and intake, really blew my mind ! This video featuring Frank and the crew at Dandy building the billet Barra is equally amazing. I even enjoyed reading the comments because I didn’t see any confused Chevy fanboys claiming the LS engine was far superior. That tired old LS bullshit is wearing pretty thin nowadays. Thanks for keeping it real guys 🏁.
@@gibbsey9579 Talent like Franks is definitely worthy of a full length interview. Tim is a longtime friend of mine and I’m proud of everything he does to preserve the early years of Pro Stock Drag Racing history and promote the legendary Cleveland engine and those individuals who are currently involved with keeping it in the winners circle around the world 🇺🇸🇦🇺🏁.
Good on you brother, I'm sure Frank and the boys appreciate your kind words, I know he has a lot of time and huge respect for many of the guys in the US scene especially those GURUS who he speaks to and trades with and the whole racing scene in general.
Impressive engine. We went 8.22 at 175mph (in a relatively light 2860lb car) running the most basic of Barra's. It was machined and the short block assembled by Dandy Engines (Stock block, crank, head, cams, etc). They really do know their stuff. Great video guys.
Gotta love that Barra valve cover beak. It’s just so ridiculous, yet iconic of a design. 3K HP should be a breeze as long as that aftermarket crank can hang.
I've said it before, but it's a great time to be a Ford guy building a car. These engines are amazing. And I was a Holden guy for years. I like em all now. Those billet blocks are very pretty. eta: outstanding viewing btw.
@bvward Yes, those valve seats are probably made of beryllium copper. They are for super tight tolerances. + or - .001 - .002. Also, they expand and contract at a similar rate as aluminum. I actually just found out about these a few weeks ago. I may have the head rebuilt for a vintage motorcycle I'm restoring. The machinist was going through different options. I'm pretty much going to have to have the valve seats replaced, they are pitted badly. In fact I may just buy a different head that doesn't need so much work.
Driving a 6s car to/from the track is usually not a thing. At that speed you are running tiny fuel cells. I have a friend who has driven a 6s car to the petrol station and back to the track and video'd it, worlds fastest R35.
Unfortunately I'm not sure it's possible, falcons are bloody heavy even a ba xr6 is 1700kgs. My fgs 1750kgs I'm at 480whp 775nms and barely cracking the 11 with an 11.94@114 through a tr6060, an auto might crack an 11.8 ,hell u need 700hp just to run 10.00s in them 😬🤣 You'd need approximately 3k hp atw just to crack a 6. Jun11 is around 3500hp to run 6.30s and it's lighter than a falcon.
It looked like those pistons were in the hole a little bit. Have you guys played with the quench clearance? I'm not big in the 4 valve heads but on a 2 valve it makes a big difference in detonation and power having a tight quench area. Great looking product!
So many blokes try to talk up their capabilities, so it's refreshing to see Frank (one of the top engine builders in the country) understating what he can do.
i dont understand why a master like this needs to justify his ways of working..if were him i would never say ''some might not agree with this, but it works for us'' STUFF THE INTERNET TROLLS! TELL THEM TO MEET YOU AT THE TRACK IF THEY DISAGREE WITH YOUR WORK STYLE!!
Yeah it's not the trolls he feels he needs to pander to its those few original Barra gurus who've been doing Barras since they were invented, and have achieved incredible things with, by comparison Frank has only just started doing Barras and he is always careful to show respect to those who came before him. Very humble man, and smart as a whip trying to avoid any internet wars between other shops. V Smart guy.

Thanks (and v cool video)
When you break one of those blocks
Can I have it
I wanna cut two cylinders of and make it a 4cylinder
To put in my mx5
THANKS

it doesn't matter, whether you love it or hate it, the barra is the best engine designed and built in Australia
Na was its older brother the mighty fucking INTECH
Best in-line 6 ever
No the Rb is the best motor built and designed in Australia
I have the first of the proformance Ford 6s in my cortina 1970 250 2V,factory 6 engine in xa coupes 😁🤘

LOL ! I want to see Frank bake a cake too! That's Franks new challenge!
Such a talented, modest man always so quick to divert any direct pressure to his colleagues and friends. What a lefgend, great video!
Dandy Engines is world class in my book and Frank is such a humble man. Well done team!
Really glad I got a Torrington thrust bearing put in my Barra when I had it rebuilt!
Frank always been the man, please put one of these barras in a 1400kg car like a cortina or capri want to see sixes.

That crank is basically a top fuel crank.
Crazy to see how much that alloy rod bent without shattering.

Billet prone and Frank in the same video, life's good, love it
Cool to see brass and copper valve seats. Looks like jewellery.
It may be an Iconel or titanium alloy. Not sure if brass or copper would tolerate the heat...

That xw's engine bay is a work of art
Great stuff guys . Good to see the XW uses a 3 speed .
7Great video guy's Barra the world... The boy's at Dandy engines are doing an amazing job. Here come very low 7 sec and 6 sec Barra cars...
what a work of art that thing is
Barra the world 😘
Pretty nice stuff. Definitely worth it. Definitely would use a Barra in a build
Awesome video boys its great to see great work
Definitely a 1st class operation. Wonder what an engine like this would cost ?
Great work fullBOOST
Wow how time and technology have changed 👌👌👌
A 7.44 at 185mph is insane!! Anything under a 9 is a LOT of work
20 years ago anything in the 9’s where a lot of work now days it’s a walk in the park
Certainly the worlds highest performance Taxi engines !!
Cant wait to see a falcon run a 6 with these bad bois
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure around 85% sure there's at least a couple of Falcons in the high 6s?
@joshbrookes6439 i haven't seen any, KNGFGX has only managed a 7.2 or 7.1 with a grout filled cast block. Not 100% on others tho
Amazing Engine builder!
Merry Christmas 2024
What a cool engine and video.

The 1/4mile burn out.

great work, nice bloke, great vid
i'm happy to see he knows the torque put on a bolt means nothing without measuring the stretch .

So now a Barra will try to catch the Road Runner (Meep-meep)?
Follow up on the last motor that was off to Sydney. It's been 2 months. Whats the latest on that motor/setup?
Are you blind bro? Those results were all there at the end of the video!?!? They ran a PB off the trailer!
Do these billet barra blocks get a good heat treating before final honing etc? I noticed steve morris engines does this with the smx blocks.
Always enjoy the content from Dandy.
Can you make a street car mustang t shirt 🙏🏽
Incredible
Are these alloy? If so do they use liners or some sort of ceramic or nikasil coating?
3000hp goal Jesus Christ 😳
