Saturn center console removal & installation, S Series, Gen1, Automatic SL1 SL2 SW1 SW2

Easy removal and installation of the center console of a first generation Saturn s-series car with an Automatic transmission. In this video I remove the console from my 95 SW2 and replace it with one from a 96 SL2 but would be the same for SL1 and SW1 cars.
Tools required:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
Procedure:
1. Remove automatic shifter handle by removing retaining clip with flat head screwdriver.
2. Remove front console side panels then one phillips screw under each
3. In rear cup holder pop cover off revealing two phillips screws, remove them.
4. Remove front cup holder and illumination wire (simply pulls out)
5. Detach cigarette lighter cable
6. Remove console

thanks the 2 back screws were the prob. even after you showed me. the grove was totally filled looked flush till i poked around with my flat tip. saved me lotta pain...

thanks for the VID! Question though I see your PERF - NORM switch next to shifter, have you used yours? And if so, notice any difference's?? Gear wise ?, acceleration? Shift points change? Crisp shifting? and or otherwise, or cause any erratic shifting??? Mine---->
96 SL2 228K AT, AC, PW, PL, CR , Slight trans issues, but otherwise still rollin daily!

hey I'm 18 and i have a sw2 96 great car love it i was wondering when u take that shifter nob off can i replace it with something better? the material on mine is grumpy and is flaking ? on top of can you do a video on how to replace the trunk speakers :)

I have a 98 SL 1 and the shifter gets stuck in park, especially when it is cold out. well mostly when the car and weather is cold. do you have any videos that show how to correct this? I've seen forums that discuss changing out a spring?? this one helped me with getting an idea of how to remove the console, but I need to learn how to fix my shifter. current time span for my car to get out of park is getting upwards to 20+ minutes.

IT IS PROBABLY YOUR SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID. MINE WAS STUCK IN PARK TOO.IT IS A SOLENOID ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF YOUR SHIFTER. THE NAPA P/N IS NOE 6005428

Somewhat the same as a neutral safety switch in most other cars,, to dis engage it you must step on the brake pedal and hold to shift.
