Thanks to you I can swap out my recently acquired SW2. What irks me is ... 1960s we had 8-track. 1970s introduced the tape deck. Late 80s and all 90s rocked the CD unit. Saturn goes back to the 50s and grants us only FM radio. -_-
We are donating our Saturn to charity and wanted to put the original radio back in. Thank you for this video as it made the process take less than 10 minutes!
It is so much easier to to this on the earlier models of S-series like my 1999 SW2! I just removed the panel on my wife's 2000 SW2 without removing any bolts, but I know I will have to follow these steps to actually get the trim back on.

Nice job but looks like bit extra work just to get the bezel off. What I see and cut time in half.
Loosen dash pad and pop off the bezel that's it, you don't need to remove side vent or remove steering column the radio bezel lifts up from behind it slide it in from radio side then push down snap in place.

The 00-02 s-series has more steps than the earlier ones for sure.
+richpin06a - Very true. I also have a 1992 SL1 and the thin bezel around the radio & heating ducts was all that needed to come off. Having to take the dash pad up and steering housing is ridiculous.

Newer s series are so extra. My 93 sc2 just had the plastic trim around the radio and ac controls that popped right off and that was it

Hey man...i have a 2000 saturn that the vents on top of dash the ones that hit the windshield...dont blown any air...what do you think it is.
just a comment. i was unable to remove the two screws from the steering wheel shroud. just would not back out. anyway, i was still able to remove the bezel with the steering wheel in the lowest position.

Some of those Saturns had excellent sound systems.! Worth saving. Not sure if the stereo kicked out the power or if the speakers were boosted with an onboard amp built right on the speaker like dodge did in the caravan but they sure kick tunes!
Yeah my 02 sc1 stereo kicks pretty hard for being stock no joke.
NextGenNate 2000 sl2 bass hits pretty hard on many songs it shakes my mirrors

How many *PINS* does that factory wiring harness..?
My radio I am installing has a *16 PIN* wiring harness connector..
It's a lot of work taking off all that trim I'd liked to know exactly what I am going to get into
I have a Saturn S series that's going to pick n pull...it has a really nice aftermarket stereo in it. Would I remove it the same way? Don't want to give it to pick n pull, want to put it in a truck.

Skip the dashboard removal. Unnessisary step. One thing that helps is remove the top cap for the steering wheel. This allows for easy removal of hvac cluster.
By removing those first two 7mm screws from the dash pad, is it possible to remove the whole dash after that?

I was told by Best Buy that I could install a new radio directly in, without using a dash kit, would this really be possible? I saw another video on here that the guy used a kit for, one that Best Buy apparently doesn't stock. Thanks.

@@RichpinTv My 2000 Saturn has an aftermarket radio/cd player, sirius enabled, iphone enabled. Want to remove it. On a 2000 could I get away with just removeing the AC bezel?
thats look base model radio, my dads 2002 sl1 had cd player
Mine too...need to remove it, not sure this helped...will try removing the bezel around the AC...see if I get anywhere with that.

ughhhhhhhhh so i have to take the entire dashboard apart just to replace an ac switch.......
this car is ridiculous, im stuck driving it because my 85 f150 gets 12mpg, gas is now to damn expensive and i drive 2 hours a day.
