Yeah USians talk about the US as of it's the only place that exists. It gets annoying sometimes to hear "this country" as if I live there which I don't.
I think it's because the US is a very popular/well known/large country. But I do agree that we get too much attention and other countries should get more attention because, though it isn't amazing, we have it fairly good here in the US where in some countries it is much worse.
Only reason I knew about any of these events is because of this great podcast called Making Gay History. It has interviews with a lot of early LGBT activists and its really informative!
I am a cis woman. I have never heard of this history ever in my life. I'm 40 years old. It's a dam shame how bias our education system is. This history is very important. I want to be aware.
Love him, as an actor and human being. Why didn’t I know his character’s name until this week on Pose? Also... introducing it with a question seems like a really awkward choice: “Pray Tell, are you positive?”
Dayton Waiariki-wilson yeah. This is part of the history we SHOULD be taught in school. The history that helps us understand why the US and the world is the way it is today. Not just some blurbs on 1776 and 'oh yeah, WWI'. Didn't even learn about Vietnam and my school loved teaching about war.
if it makes you feel better, I'm deciding on using this clip or something like it for my Gender & Women's study course in college! That's around 30 more people being taught. Not much, but it's something!!
I love this We Need more Queer History to be taught and learn. So important for people gay and straight or however they identify themselves to know of LGBT History
It’s sad that lgbt youth in America are watching more and more anti lgbtq laws being out into place, specifically ones trying to criminalize HRT and other gender affirming care. As someone in this country who is getting gender affirming care it really makes me disappointed, and even a little scared about what our future is going to look like here
What followed Stonewall is much more important than what preceded it. The radical gay liberation movement took hold in the 70s. But it's nonetheless interesting to underline that it all began in imperial Germany with Magnus Hirschfeld.
Fausto Levantesi I’m not saying you’re wrong, but what came first is definitely important. This activism likely paved the way for Stonewall and what came afterwards
Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! it's so important to your communities' history would love a follow up to this, with the events from stonewall to the present
I ask for help and assistance in removing homophobic content. This person, who is listened to as a teacher, promotes hatred in the LGBT community: ua-cam.com/video/tV6CoQihqaY/v-deo.html If you want to help, go and leave a complaint about inappropriate content.

Let's not forget Harry Hay's Homosexual rights march in Hollywood in the 193O's, if not late 2O's. The first in the nation I do believe. ♥
I love his acting and I usually watch anything he's acting in, which is why I'm so upset that I can't watch Pose because it isn't on TV in the country I'm in and I can no longer use Kodi. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
This is a video about rarely known lgbt+ history in the Usa (and it should probably mention that it’s focusing on American history). I know ppl in the comments are upset at how US-centric this is but I think the issue isn’t this video, but that there should be more education about the global struggle of the Lgbtq community
It is my solemn wish that Billy Porter leaves the silver screen and never comes back. I do not like the roles he portrays, and find him to be quite annoying.
I had to watch this twice because the first time I was stressed out they were going to run out of room on the page.
i was stressed out by the misspelling of oppression
And they did💀
I love this, but I wish it wasn't so US-centric. The title made me think it would be a more global look at activism.

Great storytelling, and Billy Porter is fantastic, lovely illustrations as well! Thank you for informing us on the forgotten past
This is more important than many of the things I have been taught in school.

Billy Porter is so awesome. I can watch any documentary he narrates.
Thank you for sharing our history!
I love him!!! Great video
I love how the illustrator didn't waste space, it was satisfying to me
Anyone else bugged by the fact that the artist didn't seem to know that Sappho was a woman?
not to mention that the word "bisexual" wasn't mentioned a single time in the video, except by the artist to imply that being bi is "assimilationist"
This is amazing! Thank you!
This is awesome. Happy pride!
Wow! Thanks for this and the artwork rocks!! I kinda want a poster of it :) 💗🕊

But masc4masc right? Lmfao let’s do better inside the community. We need to know our own history.
what about reprerations for blacks
"Gay" organizations and history not "Queer." That word is disrespectful to elder gays and lesbians.. the people this video is about.
