- This year marks the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK, and it all started in the basement of a London university.
The Gay Liberation Front was making itself heard in protests across the capital throughout the early 70s when gay people were being arrested and same sex attraction was still considered to be a mental illness.
But by July 1972, Pride was born with 150 people taking part and a revolution was under way.

I believe we have to support minorities and disinfranchised groups because so many people attack and oppose them. I believe everyone who is truly inclusive should make themselves heard, to offset all the hate these groups recieve, and show that Britain is an inclusive country, with many cultures and ideologies welcome and living in harmony.

The funny thing is Christmas gets nearly 7 weeks.... if you were actually christian youd know it begins in advent on November 15th, and christians light the advent candles at a special mass every week. Then the religious christmas celebration lasts for 12 days from christmas day (hence the 12 days of christmas)
You dont even know what Christmas is anymore. Youve probably not set foot in a church in years. So yes, pride gets a month because it stands for something... you get 1 day for *your* christmas because its just turkey and presants day and bears absolutely no meaning to the majority outside of getting new stuff and eating/drinking too much. I have to say as to being asexual and telling people I'm only interested in a friendship there are times .. HELL to be frank a LOT of times I have to tell people, the majority MEN that I'm not interested in hook-ups, a sexual relationship. I SAID PLATONIC mutual friendship! And for my standing as an asexual, (there are all types and does or doesn't involve in sex) but for my preference. I'm not sexually attracted by people based on their appearance.
But sometimes I feel like you have to "paint the town red" to make some people understand and it frustrates me soooo much that what I say in my profiles towards both men and women that I get ignored in ALL the detail and then some.
SO, depends on people so you cannot speak on behalf of the majority of people its not simple and human beings never MAKE life simple.

Gay people are showing that they are proud of their identities because they have been historically shamed and had their human rights stripped of them and still do today. In a world where the LGBT community is oppressed, attacked and live in constant danger, pride is a liberation that allows them to not resent who they are and to feel a sense of safety and community.
