The idea that the trolls are just hungry students makes a lot of sense

Love love love the Old World. I wish that I wasn’t so busy today, I’d watch the whole thing in one sitting. One thing that I noticed; when the gyrocopter fled the charge, the troll chargers will still do a charge roll, and they have to move their full charge distance at the gyrocopter. Unless they chose to and can redirect.
And most likely they would have caught the gyro and killed it
Best one yet, love the energy and ethos of trying for a fun game over pure competitiveness. Keep it coming please!

Awesome, at last the Square Based representation we've been waiting for! I have the impression the dwarves resolute rule was missed a few times: -1 to all flee and pursuit moves. Those boys don't move so fast.
When your opponent chooses flee you dont make a pursuit move, you make a charge move. You would have squished a copter there
Dang it!
Also you cannot restraint a charge, you can either redirect it or run down the foe

What a battle! The dice gods certainly were fickle! I’m guessing the dwarf list being a little more optimised to fight trolls was to account for Val’s storied history with warhammer fantasy.
Would be interesting to see some more “scenario” based battles for fantasy. Ambushes, last stands, hold the bridge… etc.

I think it was more to account for Trolls potentially rolling right through the poor dwarfs unopposed. We tweaked a few things and I think we kinda nailed the balance for the purposes of a battlereport anyway.
Also doesn't help that I'm not exactly gods gift to warhammer, despite my enthusiasm haha
@@valheffelfinger6521 ahh thanks for the context. I didn’t realise that was a legit concern with TrollvDwarf. Trolls have a lot of advantages… but seemed pretty balanced with negatives. But thats just on paper. Need to play more!
I’m currently getting a troll hoard together. When i was a kid i’d have my grubby nose pressed up against the glass of the local hobby store… OBSESSED with those old river troll models. So finally i’ll have an army of them.

@jimirowe7006 yeaaaahhhhh. For example had we not had flaming on the cannons I'd have saved over half of all the Cannon ball shots (5+ rerolling). Had there been great weapons on the Trolls they'd have wounded on 2s vs everything... and had I screened the giants with trolls (which I would have in a competitive situation) the giants would gave essentially been untargetable (can't see the spot to land beyond the Trolls, and can't bounce a cannonball through monsters.)
It was actually a pretty amazing collaborative effort off camera. And probably the most genuinely "narrative" driven game I've ever played (in the sense that we played together to make an entertaining game first and foremost). Definitely a great vibe on set!
Val is an awesome Guy ^^ Having him paired with Bard was the setup one needs for great laughts, funtimes and all manners of silly things... also... MOTHER!!! ^^

Fun report! My biggest critique though would be it seemed like the dwarf army was heavily tailored to fight trolls which (just my opinion) is less exciting than a rounded army

@15:45 you can see the bonegrinder as its a large target, everybody can see it over other bases
the cannon aims at a spot in the ground rather than a model, so the dwarven unit does block line of sight here.

I noticed that often in your channels, you tend to take very few characters, usualy 2 or 3.
Is that what the meta looks like, or is it a choice.
Personnally I love my heroes, and I wonder if you are shooting yourself in the foot going for fun heroes instead of more meat.

How can one roll so badly... sweet mother troll!
A great battle report, the guys are really fun and the models look superb, it just bugs me that they made such a glaring rules oversight with the trolls and the hag charging the gyro that fled, that would change the whole flow of the battle
NOT TO MENTION HE DIDN'T TAKE GREAT WEAPONS!!! 😩 that is nerfing yourself so so hard
@19:17 When the Charge target Flees you can only follow through with the Charge or redirect, you cant restrain. If you do continue the Charge it is still a full charge move so Charging units move their Movement plus Charge roll (high die) EVEN IF THEY DON'T CATCH the fleeing unit. Fleeing when your unit is 1" away is almost never a good idea as the 2d6 or even 3d6 you move is rarely more than the Charging unit's Move + charge roll.

fast brains square off, the speed of the tete-a-tete and rules processing is truly awe inspiring, they're operating on a higher plane and caught on camera. Im going to show this to my wife to show that men can communicate like this too
Awesome batrep! One question though, does the "Slayer" special rule don't apply to the "deathblow" rule?
When you redress ranks (or have the Drilled rules), can the Command Group be repositioned in the centre of the fighting rank like in any other manoeuvre or you must redress around it?
