I feel you may have misunderstood what Camoran did to himself. In the mythic dawn first commentaries Camoran speaks of going into seclusion, something happening to cause him to "speak with a new voice" after he "offered himself to that daybreak". All of this suggests that he used the razor to kill himself but for whatever reason it severed his connection to the mortal realm instead thereby making him immortal like Daedra. Being just like Daedra, he was not bound to just one form upon ressurection. Indeed, Daedra can look totally different upon their reincarnation. It would therefore follow that Camoran would now be able to take the form of any mortal race - including being Dragonborn. In the same commentaries he says, "Mankar Camoran was once you, asleep, unwise, protonymic, but Am No More". The word protonymic is a word created by TES writers and based upon words like matronymic which means to have a name based upon your mother. Protonymic therefore means "before named". What is interesting with this is that in order to summon Daedra, you need to know their true name. Camoran now had a true name as well which is further proof that he was like a Daedra. So, what this all means is that Camoran simply used Mehrunes razor on himself after retreating to solitude when no one would listen to his preaching. He tried to commit suicide but actually severed his connection to Nirn and became like a Daedra with all the benefits and drawback which come from that existence.

Mehrunes dagon is my favorite daedric prince. I also quite like sheogorath and nocturnal as well but none of them compare to destruction and change.
Imagine an alternate history where the Oblivion Crisis was never solved, say, because the Hero of Kvatch was too busy mantling Sheogorath and The Grey Fox. Imagine a world where everything, EVERYTHING, was torn down, and Mankar Camoran's Paradise is the last beacon of hope, serenity, and order... That would make it Mehrunes Dagon's one and only target to destroy... It seems the only way to get out on top while helping Mehrunes Dagon, is to always stay on the bottom...
